Hey, I hope you're doing well. I want to ask something a bit off topic. I was studying the "-는 것 같다" structure, the explanation said that when you attach it with a verb in the present tense, you add "-는 것 같다" and with a verb in the past tense, you add "-(으)ㄴ 것 같다". If I'm using past progressive, will it be "verb고 있은 것 같다" or "verb고 있었는 것 같다"? I'm very confused.

있다 verb's past tense modifier form is "있었던" and not 있은. 있은 is a grammatically wrong structure. So when it's combined with -ㄴ/는/은 것 같다 structure, it has to be "있었던" 것 같다. Same with 없다. It should be 없었던 것 같다 instead of 없은 것 같다 (this would be grammatically wrong too.) You can consider it an "exception" that you should just memorize and get used to, because there's no logical grammatical reason for this. (있다 and 없다 have lots of exception rules especially when they become a modifier)
