Hi! Coke Studio launches its season every year with different number of episodes. Basically the set of the show is a studio where they write, compose, and rehearse a song and then record it in one go ( which is insane! Ain't it?) Every musician knows his work so well that is why they don't take retakes and stuff. The singers who are invited by coke studio to sing songs are so professional and trained that they manage to nail it on a single recording and as soon as the song is recorded it is released in the episode. So, basically Coke Studio Pakistan is the oldest and the most heard musical show in the country and all across the globe too. Also, a Turkish word "Afrerm" has been adopted in Persian and Urdu as "Afreen". The word Afreen has many meanings. It is an exclamation of praise. Its used to express delight and elegance. It's used in a sense of encouragement of goodness in Turkish. It's used to praise the beauty of an individual and to consider him/her a true gem. So basically, the poetry of this Ghazal ( a poem that is written in the praise of someone) is the explanation of the unparallel amount of beauty that a women possesses. It is written to praise her eyes, her hair, the way she talks and then the poet says that the girl he loved was the most unique and beautiful girl in the world. There is no one like and no one could ever be like her.

Here is the English translation of the song: Haven't seen someone as beautiful as her Her body is like a sculpture of Ajanta Her body, like a magic on my eyes Her body, like a song, her body like a fragrance Her body is like aromatic moonlight Her body is like a dancing tune Her body is like a blooming garden Her body is like the first ray of the sun Her body is so finely crafted, oh love! Smooth like sandalwood Pure like marble It is impossible to admire the beloved's beauty in words! Praise to the creator! Praise to the creator! If you look at it, you too say it Praise to the creator! Praise to the creator! It is impossible to admire the beloved's beauty in words! It is impossible to admire the beloved's beauty in words! I don't know how have you entangled my gaze with yours My mind gets drawn towards you The dawn on my face, the dusk of my tresses Everything that is mine dear, is now yours Your gaze touched me, this magic is the result I feel beautiful Praise to the creator! Praise to the creator! Praise to the creator! Praise to the creator! Her face is fresh like a flower Is it her face or the moon? Her face is a poetry, the song of life Her face is like a bud, like a lotus Her face is an imagination and its picture as well Her face is both a dream and the reality Her face is like the saga of Alif-Laila (Romeo-Juliet) Which is certain in a moment, and just an imagination in another Her face is like no other Bright and radiant! It is impossible to admire the beloved's beauty in words! Praise to the creator! Praise to the creator! If you look at it, you too say it Praise to the creator! Praise to the creator! The female singer was momina and it was her first time singing. The male singer was rahat fateh Ali Khan. He is worldwide famous. In coke studio multiple singers collaborate on old songs and remake it with additional lyrics or additional music and give it a new form and yes it was live. Sometimes they make new songs too. They practice is and then do it all in one take. Almost all seasons are hit. Some Ppl playing keyboard and piano are themselves big singers in Pakistan but in coke studio sometimes they are producers or giving their songs with permission for remake and collaborate in different positions. Like there is another song of singer shuja haider called tera woh pyar but in coke studio he gave the chance to two new singers to sing and he just played an instrument in the song and did other things. You should watch coke studio season 8,9,10 and will love all of it

Just got to the end of the vid, so the scatting thing he did is known as ‘Lehkaari’. That’s the correct term. It’s basically playing around with the Asian equivalent of ‘Do Re Mi’...which is ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’. One needs to be an absolute master to even think of attempting it. Rahat is perhaps the only one alive atm to do it at a world class level. Which brings me to his uncle, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, the GOAT imho. You guys need to see his stuff, he was UNREAL. Lastly, yes this was live singing🤘🏼

This is from Coke Studios Season 9 and it is on Season 12 now. First 1-6 seasons were produced by original creator and producer of the show the musical mastermind Rohail Hayat so they are on his youtube page while he rejoined fin season 12. Yes they record everything live in this show and it is not auto tuned at all which is the best thing about this show. Also it has subtitles in every song so you could turn it on as Coke Studios is actually famous for deep lyrics of their songs and long duration songs with each instrument given time not only vocalists, most of vocalists are already famous like Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is very famous singer and he sings in this unique style if singing of this region, he is the nephew and student of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (this song was sung by him originally and here they added additional lyrics for girl part and yes he was not singing in the end just doing Raag its v difficult thing to do only professionals and v good singers can do), one of the greatest vocalist of all time to whom Jeff Buckley called he is my Elvis, they sing unique singing style known as Qawali which has deep lyrics, similar to Sufi Music or its branch in classical music. Due to Coke Studios success in Pakistan where it was started (some say it started in Brazil which is not true at it was just concert arranged by Coke Studios not Studio singing) now it has been adopted by many countries in Asia like India, Middle East (Arabic) and Africa. Please react to Rock Star by Ali Zafar from Coke Studios.

There are seven notes in traditional Indian/Pakistani music. There are “Sa”, “Re”, “Ga”, “Ma”, “Pa”, “Dha”, and “Ni”. Collectively these notes are known as the "Sargam" or Seven Noes of Sur". All the rhythms revolve around these surs. The singers practice it and during songs, show their expertise on these.

For anyone who’s wondering, that bit at the end with Ustaad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan just spazzing out weren’t just weird noises, they were classical notes kind of like western music’s “Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti To” etc. And ours start off with “Sa Re Ga Ma” etc. He is regarded as the best of this genre in modern times, coming in a close second to his uncle the Legendary Ustaad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

Coke Studios, Live singing, music, mixing, cameras everything was in one Go! They come up to revived old hits with twist or new punchlines as well, or giving credit to the legends, Afreen song was from Nusrat Uncle/Master/Adoptive Father/and Father in Law of Rahat. He died in 2000s and till now considered as king of Kawali (Very Famous type of classical music) Having over 500 album addition with trillion were sold all around the world. Coke studio offer subtitled songs from few seasons and you should have checked the subtitles for this song as well. If I may ask for a reaction: Its Kawali not 100% original form yet it maybe very appealing because original Kawali are slow and long average 25 to 30 or small around 15 minute. But this version is very very short compare to that. So song is Haidarium by nascafe basement.

I loved your reaction 💜💜💜💜👍 You both are so beautiful and cute Love from Pakistan 💜💜 Svara or Swara (the ending part of the song u asked about are seven surs collectively call svara) is a sanskrit word that connotes a note in the successive steps of the octave. More comprehensively, it is the ancient subcontinent (nowadays india and Pakistan and bangladesh) concept about the complete dimension of musical pitch The seven notes of the musical scale in subcontinent classical music are Sa, Ri/Re , Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, and Ni. These are called seven surs These are mainly used in pakistani and indian music mostly 💜💜 Hope it answered your question these were the melodies in last u were asking about

There is the whole translation of afreen song It's not even possible to praise the beauty of my beloved Praise to the Creator, Praise to the Maker, Even if you see (my beloved), you would say the same. Praise to the Creator, Praise to the Maker..I have never seen anyone so beautiful her body is like some statue of Ajanta Caves her body is like a spell on eyes her body is like some beautiful song, like some fragrance, her body is like a tilting rhythm, her body is like fragrant moonlight, her body is like a blossoming garden her body is like the first rays of the Sun her body is like a carved statue, heart-arresting, Like (the fragrant) sandalwood.. Like the white marble.. Her face is fresh as flower Is it her face or the moon? her face is like a Ghazal, face is like the life of a Ghazal Her face is like a bud, face is like a lotus flower, Her face is like a face given to imaginations, That face is like a dream, and its interpretation too.Her face is like some tale from Alif Laila (Alif Laila has a lot of fairies etc. in its tails, so he's calling her a fairy.) For one moment it's real and in a moment it's an imagination, Her face is like no other, With a face like moon, With a forehead like moon. When I saw her eyes I was transfixed They are two cups of wine, both of them ablaze Are these eyes, or two doors to a winehouse Shall I call them eyes or dreams When the eyes looked down, they became shyness itself, When they looked up, they became a prayer. When they looked down after looking up, it was her style. When they looked up after a downward glance, it became a punishment. Eyes, in which the sky and earth are captured, (eyes) like the flower of nargis, grey, like the eye-kohl..The story of the (long) tresses of beloved is long too. These tresses have their shadows on my heart Tresses, like dark clouds entangled in themselves, Tresses, like some black specter When tresses get entangled, the world gets troubled, When tresses become straight, this song becomes easy,When tresses spread, the black night starts looming over, When tresses sway, the night starts singing, The tresses are like some chain, but still so beautiful So Silky, So much like the sky...

The song has got subtitles and they are real real good. It's a live studio version of some popular and some originals, fusions etc. Coke studio is produced in seasons. Currently there are 12 seasons if I'm not wrong. The style of singing has it's roots in hindustani classical which is based on ragaas. It is the style of south asia, majorly India/ Pakistan. The guy singing is a living legend trained by his late uncle Ustad Nusrat who is considered the pioneer or ambassador of Hindustani classical and sufi music in the west.

And the fast runs that the male singer, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was singing, were like musical runs sung in Hindustani Classical Music (Classical Music genre originating from North/East/West India & Pakistan). So, you would find singers from India and/or Pakistan trained in this genre for their basics. 😁 The singers names are Rahat Fateh Ali Khan (Guy) & Momina Mustehsan (Girl) I think you might like can another coke studio song from season 10 called “Ujaalon Mein” :)

Voice Modulation in Western parlance is called Riffs and in some places it has vibrato. He is singing actual lyrics not lip syncing. South Asian artists don't use auto tune......their training is for 5-6 hrs a day with a guru ( teacher) and they practice a lot

That is basically classical music touch Also both coke studio and nescafe basement they create spirtual, sufi, and other kind of songs They recreate Pakistani old songs as well They use to show Pakistani culture by wearing traditional Pakistani clothes There are over 170+ local languages in Pakistan, and both coke and nescafe basement they try to create songs in all these languages They use traditional instruments of Pakistan as well They use to combine out Pakistani cultural music with western music as well All performances are live and you can even watch the BEHIND THE SCENE of every song, you will know how they do practice and then the live performance Remember every video has English subtitles so you can open them to understand Various type of singing ways are used like CLASSICAL, FOLK, SUFI, POP, ROCK etc etc Most of the songs are the Old Pakistani songs which are recreated

So all Coke Studio recordings are done in one take with multiple cameras. No post-production is done after recordings except mixing the levels correctly - and even most of that is done beforehand in a rehearsal session when all the mics, cameras, lights, and monitors are set into their final positions so they can simply be used as is on the day of recording. That's what sets Coke Studio and Nescafe Basement apart from other music shows - real instruments, real voices, no autotune, and REAL SINGING.

It's a professional studio sponsored by Coke in Pakistan, and those are live recordings. That bit where Rahat goes off is not actual lyrics but rather notes
