the orange side dish is Gari, its made from Cassava AkA Yucca. Its grated and dried in the oven or open pot. They use the oil from the stew to kix the gari to give it the orange color

So guys, you know the black sauce you had with the fried yam in the part one, goes with the waakye. The orange thing is gari made from cassava (another root plant like yam and potatoes). It’s usually white but the oil from the goat sauce is mixed with it to give the orange colour.

We use our hands or a tablespoon to eat waakye that’s why you guys were struggling 😂😂. And the orange powder is ‘gari’ it’s made from cassava. And yes you are supposed to mix it with the waakye and noodles. I’m glad you enjoyed it😁

The sauce tastes like the Jollof because the tomatoe sauce would be the base for Jollof. The rice is cooked in the tomatoe sauce which makes it Jollof hence why it tastes similar :)

They don't add palm oil. They try to soften and retain flavour by adding oil from the cooked stew. Never heard of palm oil been added 🤔

Waakye is traditionally eaten with goat meat stew, you should try it next time. It’s even better! If you do a part 3, try a dish called banku with okra soup. It’s the best! It’s a specialty in Ghana.
