😆Thanks for the company while I work David & Anna…this live was entertaining as always! A bit depressing but it’s probably the solar eclipse, it makes people loopy!🤣 It made me sad to hear your mum feels pressure to have a coat that won’t go out of style…I can’t relate to this feeling at all. In Australia, (at least, in my city) no one cares about high end labels; in fact, it’s seen as somewhat pretentious. We have all the stores though, LV, Dior etc etc but it’s mainly tourists who shop there. It’s just not part of life here🤔 thank goodness! I don’t think I could handle that! 😆

It might be obvious by now that western and eastern mentalities are not comparable , especially when it comes to image or the way other people's opinion matters or influences the individual's perception of self worth. Eastern mentality requires that you flaunt your material wealth along with your appearance, thus claiming a higher social status based on how much money you have and how close to their beauty standards you are. On the other hand, most ordinary western people couldn't care less about others' opinions, conformity or adherence to a given standard. What's more westerners are generally quick to embrace change and novelty, so they follow new trends (be it fashion, attitude or new ways of thinking/philosophies) naturally and as a matter of fact. Eastern societies need lots of time to make structural cultural changes, they are still defined by their old ways and beliefs. Especially if they played the isolationist and homogenous card for so long, like Korea. The wealthy people in the west will almost always try to prove their class by hiding their money behind timeless labeless luxury and a quiet social presence. So the general western idea would be rather 'we don't have to prove anything to anyone to feel we are worth something'. We should probably accept that we are just different in our making and enjoy what we have in common, humanity, I guess.

If you think about it these things are two sides of the same coin. Or at least just different degrees. You present our attitudes as polar opposites but they really aren't. There is TONNES of conformity and conspicuous consumption in the west. It's just more varied but still very much a big part of our society. The Stanley cup craze is a good example. BBLs and getting the right physique was very much a big thing. It's definitely a way of showing off, following a trend and conforming. As for western rich people being low key, that's definitely just showing off taken to a higher level. To us normies they project an appearance of casual dress, but those who know know. That elevates them even higher because their consumption is SO exclusive that you have to be rich to recognise it. In my opinion these are expressions of the same overall social messages but they're just filtered through different signals and symbols. But they're still trying to convey the same general idea: "I'm important and interesting and I have social value." Think about people who go to great lengths to stand out from the crowd. They're still trying to gain attention even if it's negative. "Individuality" is a trend here in itself so you can gain social points by making a point of not following the crowd. But at the end of the day you're still invested in the system. Despite what people "say", they often make a point of conformity or individuality. It's rare to find someone who is truly neutral and disinterested when it comes to these things. Most people who say they are, are just saying that to seem independent and cool. Like I said, it's a trend in itself.

Welcome to visit Finland, David! It really is true that we don’t care much about material things. I notice this all the time when watching your content. We have a very different mindset about money for example. But otherwise Finns are quite similar to Koreans. We too are silent in public, appreciate humbleness and like people who work hard. Haha! 😂😂 I visited Korea a year ago and the vibe felt really comfortable for me. Almost like back home. 😊

I don’t think that Cha Enwoo or Karina are not attractive but I prefer a healthy kind off beauty. I think it’s a national type of preference. Karina wouldn’t be considered that attractive in Europe. But it’s no reason to trash other people’s looks.

Those "happiest" countries polls are amusing, the poll uses 1,000 people as the sample size which isn't even close to 1% of a population of any country, not to mention how people would vary with their answers depending on the living conditions of the people answering the questions, for example I live in the U.S and I guarantee if I polled people living in East or Southern Los Angeles vs people in Orange County the results would be drastically different, and they are only separated by 20-30 miles.
@IshtarNike
@IshtarNike Ай бұрын
Are you a statistician? Most polling works that way and if it's done right it can still be a representative sample. Do you actually know the methodology and the statistical theory behind polling or are you just assuming that a poll can't be accurate with a sample size like that?

We will never understand what it's like for a famous woman to be in a society that has deep roots in misogyny. We don't get how far some of these men would go to show they don't want her dating. They actual have the term anti-fan where people dedicate their time to hating a celebrity. On top of that, dating has killed many careers. A lot of companies just drop people with ruined public images. If that were to happen, she would have no way to protect herself. Not to mention, jobs she had lined up would back out to avoid the negative press. Dating has hard consequences in that society as a celebrity sometimes. She owned dating at first. If this is actually true, I wouldn't be mad at her for not being able to deal with the pressure, if that was the case.

Yeah but it could aslo be that they're dating in secret and let's not forget her company and his could've had something to do with it because this scandal was getting quite out of control and could've impacted both of their careers very badly which neither of them I'm sure would want

I suppose when they talked about "skinny fat" they actually meant cholesterol. Which indeed is very dangerous and can create diseases if it is too much. And this doesn't depend on how much you weight. You can still be skinny and have high levels of cholesterol. Just took this from a medical website: "Cholesterol is a waxy substance found in your blood. Your body needs cholesterol to build healthy cells, but high levels of cholesterol can increase your risk of heart disease. With high cholesterol, you can develop fatty deposits in your blood vessels"

David, if you want to have the enviable wellbeing Scandinavian countries have, don’t vote conservative… wellbeing societies are built with progressive social democratic ideas, with state intervention, with high taxes and restricted capitalism… conservative governments NEVER protect small businesses like yours. They just help the big fish in the pond. Don’t be fooled by them. I’m much older than you and I have seen conservative governments in different countries come and go. One thing is clear: pensions, healthcare and social services are always better with progressive social democratic governments. I agree with Anna about how hard men have it in society. Patriarchy is to blame. Patriarchal women are to blame for putting unfair pressures on men. Feminism, even the most radical, even 4B, only want to protect men and women against patriarchy. I linked Anna a KZbin video on the crisis of masculinity in her channel, but I think YT deleted it. Pity. It actually confirmed a lot of the concerns she was expressing . It is called The gen z gender divide by dw news.

Was thinking how your mood resembled Danny's right after doing a live with him just like the commenters did - the swings were ridiculous... I suggest not giving a fuck about other people's opinions when it comes to appreciating real pretty flowers (instead of artificial ones like idols :P). Just take a walk around the neighbourhood, take in the scenery and snap some photos. That will sooth your soul! Peak comedy when the video neared its end, like a squabbling married couple in their prime. 😊

My mom will fit in very well in South Korea. It is considered quite rude to comment on people's weight, body shame or fat shame in most Western mindsets. My mom does not flinch to tell someone at a wedding, you've gone fat since I saw you last. I had to pick up the woman's jaw from the floor and make an excuse. So I used the black South African traditional reasoning. If you've got body, you're well looked after or even considered wealthy. So I simply said, yes, her husband takes good care of her!!! It's interesting how cultures differ. If you gave money and flaunt it, in Western countries, you're branded as a show off or insensitive towards the throngs of poverty stricken misfortunate.... You might even get robbed at a stop street fir your bravado. Poverty is real in SA. Go hang out in Sandton Johannesburg if you want to flash your branded goods.... But you might get mugged along the way. 😆

Hiring migrant labour is a shitty and stupid way to solve the problem. What they need to do is increase the power of labour and also address the sexism which keeps korean women from working once they have kids, as well as addressing the housing market and the atomisation of the individual family. It will require a big shift in the economy but will be better long term. Right now most developed countries have policies based on how he world was at the end of WW2 or at most in the 1980s. The world has moved on a lot. As such, we'll need large scale reforms. These ideas like foreign labour are just temporary solutions that don't solve the underlying issue.

For me i do see being thin and heathy looking and having a natural beauty is way more attractive. being super unhealthy skinny like Rose and this karina girl is way to thin. and if you are to pale at the same time you end up looking sick. to me Anna has the perfect body and maybe even a little but thinner is okay too. because then you still have curves and if you have more color it´s better.

Lol stopped watching when they started to speak for Chaeyoung and making it seem like she knows nothing, dare I remind you that she wore that style of shirt more than once and it wasn't even for a concert or an award show or anything to do with promotion, she wore this when she went out to eat??? Like why are you patronising me??? And since when have nazis and what they did to so many people and this not even only to jews being a "culture" thing ?? I struggle to believe that koreans did not learn about them in school. Like I live in a small country in Africa and I surely did study this in school so what the heck? This is so upsetting I could understand if you guys don't wanna talk about it cause you don't know the whole picture but how dare you twist the reality? I couldn't care less who she is dating I am not supporting someone that has repetitively wore nazi propaganda (btw this is not that easy to find you don't just stumble into this shirts when your doing online shopping in normal shops you literally have to search for this so you comparing this to someone gifting a shirt to a celebrity and then wearing it is really really messed up to me, we really need to stop babying idols that do mess up things and then hating on others for literally just dating) you will not see me in this channel no more. P.S I did know about the Nazis since I was seventeen once again this not something you just stumble at and "buy by mistake" this type of staff are literally ILLEGAL In some countries!!!
