Not trying to be a hater here. But instant noodle is meant to be more convenient than the other food mentioned above so should be made at home instead of paying for someone to cook. Even fries are difficult to make to MacDonalds quality. What I see different here is the variety of ways to prepare the noodle which I think is the selling point.

I'd also like to point out how despite that stove being super powerful, this wonderful lady has measured the water just right each time so it never boils over. No doubt the amount of water is just right so that it's tasty and not diluted or too salty as well. She even times it down to the second so it doesn't overcook the noodles. That's precision, that's professionalism, and that's why it's a viable business and not something to look down on!

I think the stove is powerful for two reasons. One, quick service. Two, good looking and well tasting ramen. With lesser stove the pot would be hotter at bottom. So water needs to rise to cook ramen and other ingredients such as eggs. But with this stove its getting heat from the sides as well. You can notice how water sizzles in the pot walls right after adding ramen cake.

@supercooled4 жыл бұрын
French fries is a bit more labour intensive to prepare than a package of noodles. I know these require a bit more steps than your classical brands like "Mama" but I suppose if you allowed it to steep it would be just as edible as any other instant noodles. Those other ingredients can be easily dehydrated if you have time.

French fires is much easier. I worked at burger King long time ago. You just put them into oil, some salt if the customer wants it.
@supercooled4 жыл бұрын
@@eile4219 clearly you fail to acknowledge the logistical requirements of these two dishes. One can easily be obtained from a hot water dispenser or a tap and microwave; the other requires a deep fryer which aren't exactly in most places of work unless it's a fast food restaurant or any type of eatery. Again, as the name implies, instant noodles are by design meant to be easy to prepare. I suppose if you were desperate enough you could microwave your frozen french fries but I rather go hungry.

When you're out running errands and just busy, cold, and hungry, and then you come across this little stand with a kind little lady selling hot, freshly made instant ramen for 2 bucks, with sides, and zero clean up for yourself after? Hell YES, I'd buy a bowl. Happily. That's cheaper than any fast food where I live, and far tastier and satisfying. And far less hassle for me, even with it being instant. Just saving myself from cleaning dishes is worth it. And ramen in Korea (in many eastern countries) is not the same as ramen in western countries. It is serious business, not a trash food, and a highly beloved meal, with many different ingredients and iterations. It may be instant ramen, but there is nothing instant about the additions she's putting into it, and the flavors she's building with those additions.

This lady can do whatever. If it sells, let her sell it, but the two examples you gave are awful examples. If you ever cooked anything, you would know frying stuff is a pain to deal with the oil during clean up and making thin crepes is hard without having the proper tools. Moreover, the prep is much more time consuming with creating the batter for a crepe. Instant noodles is what I go to when I don't want to make any effort with cooking. It's something I can do in 5 min, prep/cooking/cleanup, unlike fried food or crepes that has a much longer prep or clean up, which is why I think people are baffled at why people would order something like this when the bar for making it yourself is as low as cooking gets.

The same people who have a problem with instant noodles never complained about paying triple price for alcohol in a bar or restaurant. Her "hacks" with cheese or dumplings just make it home comfort food. Some people don't get it because they never had it. This kind of place is exactly what a university student needs at times. I wouldn't have it any other way.

People saying they can make it at home 🙄 This is a self treat! If you’re out and suddenly craving for ramen, it’s available for you! If you are a student who is so tired and just wanna sit and eat, this is available for you! (Well, in korea not here in America 🤣 ) I wish we have one here! Especially when it’s winter!! Ugh! I’ll be sooo willing to pay and will treat myself! (Well if corona is not Kill joy 🙄)

Imagine you are craving ramen when you out but far from home, should you go back home just to make ramen? Lol. But here in my country we have people sell cooked instant noodles (not exactly like korean ramen as korean ramen are expensive here where i live), personally I ate those when I'm out of home and stranded somewhere and it's raining, especially cooked instant noodles tends to be cheaper than other menu lol
