Aaah!! We had the same experience. The first taste, the first burst of flavor, I WAS SHOOKETH. When I first came to the Philippines, the first thing that I have tried is sardines, but in a green can. It was just there. I forgot whose can it was, but, I got curious. I got off the plane with a nanny, went to my mom's place. Didn't get to eat along the way because I fell asleep. Hahaha. Maybe, too, because I was a bit jet-lagged, but, man, I became a fan of sardines in can ever since.

You actually drank the sauce from the can! 😀 There's also a spicy variant and those only in oil called Spanish sardines. We usually saute it on garlic and onion to eliminate the fishy and tin can taste. But it can also be eaten straight from the can. Canned sardines in tomato sauce is a cheap and popular food in the Philippines. You're right, most brands that size costs less than 20 pesos here.

Btw they also ate this meal with their bare hands. 😁 I tried to make it myself but I just don’t know how much powder or what kind of curry they used. Either way I don’t think it’s hard to figure it out because that’s the only ingredients they added.
