The Battle of the Imjin River took place in April 1951, during the Korean War.
Chinese forces attacked the United Nations on the lower Imjin River to recapure Seoul, in South Korea.
It was the bloodiest engagement endured by the British Army since the Second World War.

Many brave young men from multiple countries gave everything, for the freedom of South Korea, and all deserve to be honoured, and remembered.

Of all the regular infantry units of the British army, the Gloucester regiment really stands out as one of the best, it's a shame they disbanded it. 400 against 10,000 and they beat off all those Chinese attacks.

It also should be remembered that the Middlesex Regt were one of the first British battalions to be deployed in Korea!

17 nations alliance with advanced weapons can't event resist the Chinese attack, it sounds weird, during Opium War, Birtish defeat Qing China with ease, the same resultat In Boxer revolt, but in Korean War, both US and uk get humiliated, to save the face, they can only exaggerate the number of Chinese soldiers,

This battle is brilliantly described in a book by Andrew Salmon 'To The Last Round'. It is an easy read but not without considerable detail and personal tales of many of those who fought.

The 10th Battalion Combat Team of the Philippines' Expeditionary Forces to Korea was temporarily attached to the 29th Brigade and tasked to attempt linking-up with the surrounded troops of the Gloucestershire Regiment, just barely a day after they themselves held the line and avoided encirclement during the Battle of Yultong. They unfortunately failed to reach the British, but reached within 2000 yards of the position at Hill 235.

Interesting piece, particularly your conclusions. Your dispatch mentions other nations in this fight. Perhaps, citing the BUNC (Belgian United Nations Corps - known in Belgium ,as the Korea Battallion of the Belgian Volunteers Corps) would be fitting, for they were next to the Glosters' positions, near the Imjin River, where they both bore the brunt of the Chinese attacks. The BUNC got a US Presidential Citation for their action and gallant spirit. In fact, some the film footage you used early in your video, shows Belgian troops crossing water ways.

My great grandad served in the Korean War as a British paratrooper. He’s passed away this week. I plan to join the armed forces myself and carry it on.

Lesson from history. The Chinese Command and leaders do not care how many robots they lose. The western allies though, care more for their servicemen's lifes. This can be a sticking point when trying to win battles, with such an apathetic , and aggressive advisory.

@0:22 "UN forces began to move north to create a buffer" what sort of absurd revisionism is this? by November 1950 General MacArthur had almost reached the Chinese border. calling it a "buffer" is deeply misleading.

the Chinese chose to enter the war because the possibility of an invasion, which was very real with MacArthur in charge. The PLA was very tired after defeating the KMT and were settling down to quieter life when this started. Despite not being able to match the Western forces in almost every dept except courage, they risked it.
