As a Korean, I dont think Koreans associate youth with beauty as much as Westerners, especially when it comes to their idea of Western beauty. In fact, Koreans blab out everyone's age with each other so they can show elderly respect when they talk to you, if you are older. This idea is slowly changing with more American influences, but the old tradition seems to still be in effect in this instance. There even once was a time when blue eyes were not considered very attractive. Now I think Koreans like it.

Even for men, XD once i saw a similar video and koreans got confused to men age because the men in pictures had beard and buffy muscles, so they percieved these traits as old traits, but in the west every man that reach 20 has beard and muscles( if he works out). But i think they got confused because in korea an example of a guy in his 20s is a kpop idol that has a more adolescence look, no beard, slender muscles ect.

Korean makeup is subtle and more natural, to make people appear youthful, hence she thinks everyone is old. My understanding: western celebrities tend to exclusively go for a more sexy look. Koreans tend to go for a more cute look. Sexy seems to make you older and more mature than you actually are which is kinda what young celebrities want. It's interesting how it's the complete opposite in Korea, celebrities aim at looking younger. I think that's why western celebrities seem way older to the eye of a Korean person. And of course let's not forget the power of genetics.

In America people guess around my age. I'm almost 28. With that being said, I wear sunscreen and don't tan, so that could be a factor. I don’t think it’s just make-up though, it’s mainly down to genes. I’m East Asian but born and raised in the west so am definitely way more influenced by western culture than eastern. I don’t like “Korean make-up” looks and much prefer western, but people still think I look young af (even with contouring) and I still think people look old af. My parents also don’t follow any kind of beauty regime (none of that sunscreen spf everyday and both wear zero make-up) yet everyone thinks they are 10-20 years younger than they actually are. So it works both ways: we look young in comparison but it’s our “normal”, which means we think everyone looks old. And westerners’ normal standard is themselves so they think we look super young.

There is something curious here. I'm from México, and right now I'm living in Chiapas (a state from my country). And the type of facial feature from The guy with glasses and a pizza t shirt, really looks like people from this place, I mean, from maya culture . The people here still have ancient features. My family is from Chiapas, and my aunt looks like an asían woman, and my sister too. You must observe some photos of the ancient maya people from Chiapas. It's awsome the facial similarites.

vic r s Hi, I'm from Q.Roo and I've read about this, I know a lot of people that have very similar facial structure to East Asian people. Some think Chinese people came here at some point, there's similarities in the pronunciation of the language and other things, they've also found information in China about a city (I don't remember the name) they think is located somewhere around here and they were talking about the Mayas. In the other hand in 1905 a lot of people from Korea were bought here to work. If I'm not wrong in Yucatan there's a museum and I think a little community of the people and family of those who came at the time. So I think it's another good reason to find people so similar to them.

well, Koreans did go to Mexico at one point, they learned Spanish and blended into the culture very well, so that's probably where a lot of people get an east Asian look. Also, the Chinese also went to Mexico when exploring, there is actually a good amount of reasons a lot of Mexicans resemble Asians.

Yeah, my cousins look very East Asian but they are from Oaxaca. And some of my other cousins are from Jalisco and have blue eyes blonde hair. It's cool that Mexico is so diverse!!!!

Actually when native americas first came to the Americas the world was structured differently and they crossed over from Asia to where Canada is through a land bridge. So technically the natives of north and South America are descendants of those ancient asians.Also if you look up indigenous asians that is how asians would have looked in the past very close to how natives of Latin America those who weren't mixed with europeAns blood. There is a speculation that modern Asian skin became lighter because of mixing with Europeans(don't know if its true). Also like natives in the Americas America indigenous Asians were massacred shrinking their numbers in east Asia. Some groups still remain like the Ainu in Japan. And keep in mind that all humans originate from Africa and all physical differences are just genetic mutations due to isolation in different environments, but it does not make use a different "race".

simo Cora Yeah, I know that people look the way they do because of historical events but I think it's awesome that such diverse people can all call themselves Mexican and accept each other. In Mexico (from personal experience) nobody assumes you are not Mexican if you look different unless you speak a different language. Of course this only refers to my experiences so other people could argue the opposite.

it's the make up and facial thing. korean see peiple with lees fierce make up, pale skins,round face as symbol of young. so western people who usually don't have round face and like tan, wear more fierce make up looks old to korean. it's all about looking 10's, pale and innocence look in korea sadly.

I think the reason they guessed high ages for some of the celebrities isn't necessarily because they looked 'old' but because the makeup style all over Asia has a more youthful and cute look while American makeup tends to look more mature and sexy so they associated that more mature look with being older . lol sorry if this doesn't make much sense

i've seen white people that have lived most of their lives in korea or japan and they look young but white people, mostly american white people, i've noticed they do not take care of their skin and constantly get tan. my mom is white, she's 52 and people think she's 35. being pale being whatever ethnicy you are isn't bad, take care of your skin people and don't get tan so often, apply sunscreen. it isn't race that makes you old or young, is how you take care of your skin.

eli im guessing by 'tan' you mean sun damage...some people have more melanin than others and its not a bad thing. Melanin is more prevalent in our genetics bc of natural selection, its meant to protect us from the sun. Sun damage, however, is bad for any skin tone

oh yes, ofc, it doesn't matter how much melanin you have you should apply sun screen. what i meant is that when people of any ethnicy are pale they get tan constantly which causes their skin to look screwed up later on. i'm sorry i didn't explain correctly.

I'm 27, but I've been told I look closer to 21. Maybe it's because I stay out of the sun. I've never been interested in "going tanning" like a lot of American people. I embrace my paleness. lol I've also started taking better care of my skin recently (moisturizing, sheet masks, etc.), hopefully it helps!

White people age normally, like with every race it's about taking care of yourself, it is not genetic reasons if whites are currently aging badly, it's due to lifestyle and modern media pushed culture. All the older women in my family look 20+ years younger. It's about eating and living healthy lives, but also we don't binge drink, no drugs, no crazy phases, and it all adds up. Not to mention boomers started this tanning trend with Europeans (like many other negative things they started) which damages and ages the skin terribly. Our grandparents/great grandparents aged gracefully and well when you look at old photos (luckily Europeans took pictures of peoples/groups they came into contact with so we know how non whites aged before modern times).
