They’ve really embraced the western values but even America isn’t that bad. And that’s saying something.they worship “luxury” brands because of the social culture of comparing yourself with thr next person. they love a fickle image bought by superficial “wealth” so much so that they’ll go onto insane credit card debt just to be able to show off an expensive bag or clothes. and they look down on others for not having the same. It’s disgusting

EVERYTHING about S Korea is fake: fake eyelids, fake noses, fake Channel, fake Hermes, fake Gucci.... It's the plastic surgery capital of the world. If you want to know what Koreans look like without all that plastic surgery, just take a look at the North Koreans. All the members of BTS would look like Kim Jong Un if it weren't for plastic surgery, growth hormones, and camera trickery.

This reminds of one time when a really sweet guy asked me out, he was in America visiting family. He seemed shy but had a friend help with English, and right when we were trying to set a time he asked me to pay for everything. It was supposed to be to a museum, and admission was about $40 or $50 each, and I apologized but said I could buy us something small to eat. He was excited and asked about a restaurant that serves market value steaks and seafood, so I was just like, “no I meant like a burger or a hotdog” 😅😂 He was seriously dripping too. Off-White tshirt, with a Celine button up undone overtop, I think golden goose sneakers and a bunch of jewelry. I was standing there broke with yoga pants on. 🤣😫 Oh well, he was cute though. lol

Oh, my! What a terrible case, the mom and daughter abusing the husband's money! Some people truely don't marry for love! ☕. People who don't want custody of their children, it makes sence about the "taking care of the kids", BUT jikes, not acknowledging their existence! Johhhhh, those kids are going to have problems, for sure! No wonder the birth rate is a crisis. Young people are making sure they are staying clear from "bondage". The right person should bring the best out of you! It's best to keep a healthy balance, go see both parents on a healthy scale. To much tradition becomes exhausting! It depends on the couple to keep both parents AT BAY and keep a healthy distance. The best argument is the Bible, a man shall leave his father snd mother and cleave unto his wife! My favourite go to! There is no chance in heaven and on earth my mom will come and clean my house and cook for me.... 😂. That's why you teach your kids in childhood to DO CHORES! It will take a bit of time, but you WILL adapt! It's adapt or die trying! Men doing absolutely NO CHORES! Unless he is 💯 the breadwinner and you have the privilege of baking the cookies. a Tired hardworking man deserves to be cared for.

I Agee completely. And I speak from experience. My children are 25, 22, and 21. I'm Turing 50 next year and only planning a very tiny intimate tea party. It's a huge amount of wasting money. You can have a huge meal from home if you are blessed with space. It's affordable in SA. But it's a lot of hard work doing everything yourself. Just as status, IF you are wealthy by all means, splash, but if not, don't. Your kids still need to get through University. It's always the wisest option to be as frugal as possible. Even if you are wealthy still be frugal and pay off your debt! Fortunately, for us in SA no one will say a single WORD! Just a nice plate of food and get together would be a blessing already. And you have a catch up mingle!!! Oh, the basic home economics going back to the 90's. Intrinsic/Extrinsic values. No comment. Thank you Megan, I love your honesty.

Really good video, the convo is so interesting. Made me think how Yang Sechan once said he wanted to call someone younger than him "big hyung" just cuz the person has more money. Thought it was interesting cuz they're so strict about respecting elders but he was ready to "step down" just cuz of $, kinda like how people got outta the way for the expensive car

In conclusion, Korean parents are high narcisism. They treat kids like extended organ( not humen). And value money status look etc., over neing humen. So now the whole country is materialistic disrespect each other becausr no body have value in the self unless they have material😢 Life in Korea feel like depress episode.

Girl, I love story time. We are an international couple with little kids in Korea too! Can totally relate 😅 I'm a working mom and only bread winner, husband is a wonderful stay at home dad (아빠 mommy) for our kids 1,3,5. MIL calls me lazy all the time and I'm not taking care of my husband enough, house isn't clean enough, feeding my family vegetariann (a whole other story lol)..eventhough this was how we chose together to raise our 3 healthy happy kids. Long long story short... we moved 30 minutes away.

Materialism is in human DNA. It is same everywhere. Korea has higher standards and more money, that's why it seems like it is 'MOST masterialistic", but in reality all human beings from any country \ are materialistic, some are richer, some are poorer. Women in any country will buy a LV bag IF SHE HAS MONEY.

😂No, they won't. In a lot of European countries, and even in the US, the very rich wouldn't dream of walking around with labels stuck all over them. It's considered tacky.

I hope the Christians of Korea don't go along with this general societal norm. In the book of the Bible James, it says, "2 Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in filthy old clothes also comes in. 3 If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, “Here’s a good seat for you,” but say to the poor man, “You stand there” or “Sit on the floor by my feet,” 4 have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? 5 Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him? 6 But you have dishonored the poor. Is it not the rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court? 7 Are they not the ones who are blaspheming the noble name of him to whom you belong? 8 If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,”[a] you are doing right. 9 But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers.

This is so sad. Now, I understand when I met my first cousin from my father’s side for the first time in 2007. His family came to visit us in USA so we took them to disneyland in LA and pay for their hotel and all their expenses, and all his wife did was complained. She wanted to go to Rodale Drive so I took her there. She asked me to buy her a $6000 purse. I thought she was joking, but she wasn’t. I told her I don’t even buy $100 purse for my self. They came to visit us again this summer in 2024 , but this time, I know better. I was extremely busy too, so I just gave their son cash. They don’t even thank me and asked their son how much I gave him. I was shocked. This wasn’t how South Korea was when I grew up there in the 1970’s. All we worried about was having enough food, health, and family. All these material-junk stuff came from America’s influence. 😢
