We asked King Charles III about Korea!

Last week we received an invitation to Buckingham Palace to meet the King of England, and I got the chance to talk to him about Korea and what it means to me.
More than 20 years ago some Korean middle-schoolers went out of their way to welcome me into their friendship group. They made me feel at home and like I belonged, in a place where I had felt like an outsider.
10 years ago I went out with my best mate Ollie to talk to people on the streets of London about Korea. And since then we’ve had the privilege to introduce Korean culture and food to my friends, family and the world.
This was truly a surreal experience, and was an honour that we never would have received without all of you, so from the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

지난 주, 저희는 버킹엄 궁전에 초대를 받아 영국의 국왕을 만나뵐 수 있는 특별한 경험을 하게 됐어요. 그곳에서 또한 한국에 대해 대화할 수 있는 시간을 가졌다는 게 저에게 정말 의미가 컸어요.
지금으로부터 20년보다 더 전, 중학생 시절 한국 친구들이 저에게 따뜻한 우정으로 손을 내밀어 줬어요. 그 친구들 덕분에 외톨이라고 생각했던 곳에서 어딘가에 속해있다는 유대감을 느낄 수 있었죠.
그리고 10년 전 처음 제 절친 올리와 런던의 길거리로 나가 사람들에게 한국에 대해 소개했어요. 그때부터 저희는 저희의 친구, 가족 그리고 세상에 한국 문화를 소개할수 있는 영광스러운 기회를 가질 수 있었어요.
저희에게 정말 잊지 못할 경험이었고, 여러분 없이는 가능하지 못했을 거라 생각해요. 여러분 정말 고마워요.

I say this in the most respectful way..... I truly have mixed feelings about how excited Josh and Ollie are about going to Buckingham Palace to see King Charles, considering how abusive, manipulative, and totalitarian England has been throughout the centuries to EVERY COUNTRY they colonized and destroyed. Genocides and thefts of artifacts, jewelry, land, etc. were an everyday occurrence for centuries. THAT is how this "royal family" got their riches. Hong Kong and countless other countries around the globe were obliterated by England and forced to speak English for centuries. They didn't have a choice when the Brits invaded those countless countries!!! As a descent of a country that was colonized, I can't support the enthusiasm Josh and Ollie (and others) are feeling.

My Son moved to Korea from Inverness Scotland UK 9 years ago to teach English for one year, he never came home, he now lives on Jeju island off the south coast. He loved the place so much, its culture of respect, its people and of course its amazing food. Visited him after 5 months, it was February and freezing cold, but what an amazing trip it was. Visited him in August the following year to attend his wedding, two men in kilts got a lot of attention (men is skirts) 😁. My Son and Daughter moved to Jeju island during the pandemic, visited them in October 2022 to see not only them, but my new baby Grandson who is so cute. Heading back for my third trip in April 2023, cant wait 🏯✈⛩🎎

ditto - the Highschoolers series is by far the best, from 2 years ago (the early yonger kids) to the final trip to Korea for a lucky 7 young men. That school and Head is amazing, along with their parents, developing boys into young men I assume everyone one of us would be proud to call our son. One boy, I think it was Max, has a video where we meet his mom - the lad that had never had a holiday or flew before this 2 week Korean trip (one could easily assume such a 'posh' school only took advantaged kids, they all speak so well). Anyway, 3 months on, hope you did your binge. Bet you'v subb'd to their channel ! (The military ration pack vids are fun too)

Same here. I watch a lot of food related content and YT and only recently did JOLLY appear in my suggested vids and now I've worked backwards to KE. I have binge watched so many videos across both channels. These guys are so easy to watch and very humble.
