Are you forgetting about the Mulan movie where Mulan goes off to war to replace her father so her father won't go I think that is how the animated movie went been years since I have seen it but it was a Disney Movie that they I think just made a live movie adaptation of like 2 years ago maybe different culture but Mulan did choose to go to War instead of her father and had to hide that she was a girl in the animated movie.

No,they will and change the story. Many of the Disney stories are dark and tragic stories which are changed into fairytale stories.
