I admire that the members want to fulfill their military duty and they are giving all effort to their training and their assigned jobs. I however think it’s not right to have men that have spoken at the UN, specially invited by a major world leader to visit the White House,brought so much tourism to Korea, and broke through to the top of international music to be placed in the most dangerous areas of Korea! This makes me so sad. 😭 Tension with North Korea are higher than it has been in a very long time. The guys I’m sure are being good soldiers and going where they are told to go. Not wanting special treatment, but really is this where they should be?

You forget that they are seven young men who have been brought up to understand that they would keep this commitment one day for the love and protection of their country, their families and their way of life. They are still technically at war with North Korea and every man maybe needed one day to protect the country and their families. Would you want BTS to stand there and not have a clue what to do and rely on other young men to protect them or would you want them to be able to protect themselves, their family and country. Just because they have achieved what they have does not mean if that awful time happened that they would not be expected to take arms and defend their country so it is better for them to know how. You should stop thinking about it from your viewpoint and understand it from theirs as South Koreans.

In reality like thousands of Korean guys they are probably not particularly happy about having to waste many months of their lives doing forced military service. In their case at least they probably have it a lot easier than most of their colleagues and don’t have the bullying and poor conditions others have to endure plus the crap pay.

I wish they would tell stories of their military time. I’m looking forward to BTS’ stories because I’ll have a chance to hear some of them. The members are such entertaining storytellers.

RM: I was in Korea in 2018, visiting my wife's family in Chuncheon. We went to to Yanggu, north of Hwachon, to see the Fourth Tunnel in the DMZ. Later, we went to Chorweon to see the 2nd Tunnel. I was at Osan Air Base from 1974 to 1976, and again from 1980 to 1981. 화이팅! 카치 갑시다!👍
