BTS Jung Kook & Jimin heading to serve on the DMZ?

This vid popped up in my feed by accident. It's a memory I'd rather not remember, but I served in the military from 2016 to 2018. When I first went to bootcamp, the weather was bitterly cold, dropping to minus 18 degrees, and my comrade passed away from pneumonia. Some people ridicule the military, but I know their struggles, and respect their sacrifice.

Jimin and JK being together means so much though -- even if they are at the DMZ knowing that they are together is just such a huge comfort. I think they are a bit more emotional and as an emotional ARMY myself and a vet I appreciate what it will mean for them to have a loving brother there with them (yes, BTS are brothers by choice, no question). Well, just so happy to see this report, thank you for giving us more detailed information. ARMY all over the world are watching for all and any information on how BTS are doing...

@@1GoldenBreeze Watching Korea Now in YT it explained the companion or buddy system in military enlistment procedure in SK. IT will be till the end of their enlistment period and will not end after their basic training. In exchange for this arrangement the soldiers in this "buddy system" are sent to harsher conditions usually near the DMZs. What purpose would the buddy system be if it will be only for a span of 5 weeks when adjustments in a new environment is still not guaranteed? Why go through such rigorous process of application just to buy 5 weeks of being together in basic training? The Korea Now explanation is the same as those mentioned in the press pertaining to BTS ME and the program is also the same program practiced in the US Military Service where they can even enlist w/ 4 buddies, do basic training together, advance training and then be deployed in the same unit together.

Can you imagine if BTS had received exemption? This would have been a topic for the rest of their careers, so I think they made the right move. HOWEVER, I do think their skills and visibility could be better used. Working in some way with children/young adults, advocating for mental and physical health, promoting the military as a career prospect - I think Jin & Hobi are somewhat doing this as they are both now instructors so can motivate and advise younger recruits. There is so much they could do, even if this was just part of their service along with active duty. 💜

However, I strongly disagree on your other topic, that's why there is psychologists, social workers, pastors, youth groups. Suga is currently working as a Social worker in the military. They probably prefer to learn new skills in the military, they don't necessarily want or need to always be involved with youth.

Not many people would enlist 2-3 years before they are required to do so when their solo careers are taking off. Props to Jung Kook for enlisting now when he knows that he could’ve waited. He’s doing it so that BTS can reunite in 2025 which is going to be special and amazing. He’s such a selfless and humble person. Wishing for everyone to come back safely.

mostly they send those in buddy system nearest to the border and they also get higher allowance than the others. that's what I heard from my student who entered through buddy system. JK will have more allowance to buy banana milk.😅

1:17 seeing these moves, I'm sure it will be easier for jimin and jungkook. If these are the most type of activities they will have to do, then I'm kinda happy for both of them, since it will as a kind of training for them ( i mean for dance specifically) so they won't lose their dance skills in a way. They will be in a dangerous place if they're in near the border and in freezing conditions people have died serving in that part of country due to the diffucult situation there. It's not one of the easier or safer places to be stationed.

Nie wiem czy jestes z Rosji bo językiem rosyjskim posługuje się większość dawnego ZSRR. Ja przymusowo musiałam się uczyć od podstawówki po liceum tego Twojego języka. DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) it's a 4km wide zone between SK and NK. It's the meeting point of two parties when they have meetings or agreement that needs to be done. It.s a buffer zone. For Jimin and JK, they cannot stay in the training camp like Jin. Jin applied to be a training assistant and join military by himself. But for the two, they join as buddies, in Korean military those who joined through buddy system are sent to DMZ, it's because they have companion.

Korea needs to build up their full time military. This would do so much for the economy, give the young people more career opportunities and create a stronger, well trained military. We had a quite a few Korean nationals join the US military in the 80s. Yes, the US often gets recruits from outside the US.

Они пошли по Бадди системе, плюс в том, что они будут друг для друга поддержкой до концы службы. Минус этой системы, отправляют в самые опасные участки. Был выбор или раздельно, но с лучшими условиями, или вместе, но вот в такие места. Что они выбрали мы видим.

Я до сих пор считаю, что им не оставили выбора, и агентство определяет "генеральную линию" их ближайшего будущего (лет на 5). BTS первая группа, члены которой продвигаются, будучи зачисленными на службу. Предзаписи, специальный контент, клипы, шоу. Такого раньше не было. Они первопроходцы во всём. И в Хайб, очевидно, первоклассные менеджеры и команда продвижения. Просто хочется меньше проблем для Чонгука. Ну, и Чимин, надеюсь, хороший старший, что бы о нём ни говорили шипперы и хейтеры, Чонгук для него важен. Они друзья - это уже огромный плюс. Как это поможет на границе в сложившейся политической обстановке - не знаю, увидим.

This is a tale as old as time. All Korean men living in Korea must enlist in their military. They don't have a choice. The only thing they may choose is where ( infantry, special forces, civil, etc). These are trying times between S. Korea and N. Korea, so I'm praying for the best and everyone's safety in the military . That prayers go up and blessings come down.

It's so sad that the SK government doesn't appreciate BTS's talent and achievements at all. Millions of people travelled to Korea only because of them, giving billions to businesses and taxes. They represent the country as the only Korean 5 times Grammy nominees. And what they got in return? Being send in most dangerous place in DMZ while 40 thousand sportsmen, unknown musicians and sons of big companies and governments were exempted. Shame on the government😠

Your perspective is a materialist perspective (very modern, very western) but all physical things are merely temporary. But the warrior in Korean society is far more important than a singer. Admiral Yi Sun-sin is a national hero which you will see venerated in many places in Korea. To be a Korean and to serve your nation is a duty and an honor. Its not a burden. I do agree with you about exemptions. There should be no exemptions. But one thing about Korea, it moves fast. They change rules and laws pretty quickly there. The Korean system has plenty of space carved out for people not capable of military service which allows them to do community service instead. So, I see no reason for exemptions but I defer to Koreans on this.

Don't worry, DMZ might be the most dangerous from just what we have heard, but that is one of the quitest place here in Korea. That's the rule. I heard from my student who eneterd in military with buddy as well that those who enter through buddy system are sent there. I think maybe that's because they have someone to rely on there. Before they choose that system they already knew it. And it's by choice if you want to go through buddy system or not. That's what my student told me.

0:57 I’m glad that Jimin buddied up with someone. I know him and the member have mentioned in the past that he has difficulty being alone. Judging his character from past interviews, you can tell he gets anxious and in his head. So having someone there with him will keep his mental health a bit more stable. I honestly thought he was going to ask for exemption due to mental health concerns. Or, like Taemin, go as far as he can in his service and be ultimately asked by the military to transfer to public service. This might still happen, but we will see. Either way, go and come back safely, mentally and physically.

the "cute little one" is trained to kill people with his bare hands. people forget that jimin actually has black belts in taekwondo, kendo, and hapkido. he was even given a scholarship in high school to go to china to study kung fu. even jungkook, who also has a black belt in taekwondo, has said that jimin is the scariest member when he gets angry.

The dmz just have visitors the only thing hard about that assignment is it freaking cold..the tour guides are in for a windfall of people hoping to catch a view of the guys..dont waste your coins they wont be one of the soldiers that ride the bus to the entrance to the checkpoint😂 they will keep them far away from that action😂

The only thing that really scares me is that I actually could feel the tension in Jimin’s voice which is so weird coming from him. We all know Jimin is daredevil and to see this sort of nervousness in him makes me wonder what does he knows that we do not know? I hope North Korea stays quiet and non provocative.

Jin and Jhope serving as drill instructors on a base is the best solution for both safety against attacks by the North Koreans and dealing with sasaengs. Plus, they are mature and can build up the morale of the troops training. I wonder if a similar decision will be made for Jimin and Jungkook. Time will tell.

I am so glad Jimin and Jung Kook can serve together and rely closely on each other! Having this companion enlistment program is a very smart move by the South Korean military. Like millions of other ARMY fans, I am hoping that all seven BTS members will stay safe and healthy as they do their military service.

I read somewhere, I believe it might be in The Hindustani Times, that enlisted men , whom are tattooed, must be conscripted into a completely ,separate, division of training & service. I don't know why that is though. IF ANYBODY CAN ENLIGHTEN ME ON THIS PRACTISE, PLEASE REPLY. I WOULD APPRECIATE UNDERSTANDING THIS BETTER. I really dislike being ignorant & I do not, even venture to guess why this is , if I have zero knowledge on a subject, or a concept.

Jimin and Jungkook were free to apply to many different units as tattooed individuals. But they choose the companion system. And when they do companion soldier, they can choose from 16 units to apply. SIXTEEN units were available to them under the companion system even with Tattoos.

They do well aline on stage, but in uncertain situations , that may be stressful, they really do require eachother's presence, to cope adequately. . I really did read, something about that & I was wondering what the policy was on that . The tattoo thing. Like I have said, BTS is sending their best & deadliest weapons to the frontline. LOOK OUT!
