Accents are beautiful. It tells someone where they are from. All nationalities have them period
@jdescoto9817 жыл бұрын
Rembrandt Van Gogh That's the disadvantage of learning English in the Philippines. We tend to teach them the English language yet the accent we teach them is the way how Filipinos speak. Let's have Sandara as an example, when she speaks English, she sounds more like a Filipino rathen than a Korean(which has a different accent when it comes to English). Though there are quite a lot of English teachers that are teaching the correct way of saying the words without succumbing to the Filipino Accent

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY DISADVANTAGE OF LEARNING ENGLISH IN THE PHIL.? What's wrong with Filipino accent? Which one is correct English accent? The UK, America, Australia, Canada???????? camonnnnnn WHOSE STANDARD???????? It is correct when Rambrandt said all nationalities have them period but when you say disadvantage that is already a prejudice.

Managing school events, Like if this was my job every year I would've quitted quite a long time ago, but these teachers love their students they remember each and everyone of their previous ones and sometimes even gets news of either one of their students manages to become top of their class in college or one of their students died of an accident or got arrested. They're that dedicated.

And as for the other "poorer" asian countries, I have heard they also made fun of them, honestly I hope they've all apologize for the insulting things they've said. But it's not only korean people who make fun of the poorer countries there are also many other countries that make fun of asian in general. Sorry the for the long comment Idk where I'm going with this. Being poor is a circumstance of life - it doesn't make one a loser. I'd say a loser is a person from a "good" family who has everything their affluent circumstance entails and yet are so mal-educated to think a person bettering themselves are somehow losers. People with these sentiments are most likely wannabes or nouveau riche who has money but can't afford class. And the asshole you encountered is probably one of these people.

@@Favorites218 English is the medium of instructions in school from kindergarten to college. Not only that signs and billboards are in English. It's easy to transition from Spanish to English because Philippines already use Roman Alphabet from Spanish era. If you ask us to read Chinese, Korean, Japanese or even ASEAN brothers in the South we're Lost. It's easier for Filipino to understand Mexicans and other Hispanic countries because dialect at home is mixed with Spanish and Filipino. It's Weird isn't It? Learned it hard when my job assigned me to work in the Hispanic and Japanese neighborhood in the U.S.

Be sure that by learning English is using the correct accent! It may seem cheap...and the accent is totally different. Philippines is not a native english nation. English is just one major languages spoken in the Philippines. Be forwarned!

+jamut bugbogtuio Well, I think you should improve your grammar first. Secondly there is not such thing as "correct accent", neutralized accent however is what Filipinos use when teaching Koreans (it's something you learn in the BPO industry, an idiot like you won't understand) It's very effective and one of the best in the world. So fuck off!

Learning English as a second language by foreigners here in the Philippines is cheap. The pay for the English teachers realistically are very cheap ranging from 50 pesos to 120 peso per hour, generally the common rate are 60 or 70 pesos per hour. That's the truth!!!

Completed disagree. I am a Canadian that has lived in the Philippines for just under four years. There are two myths about Filipinos and English. First, that all Filipinos (or most) know English. This is far from the truth. Even those who study in prestigious schools like La Salle are hesitant to speak in English. And second, the English that they know is very rudimentary. The moment you use some idioms and phrases they are all at sea. They will say "I am having nose bleed" very often when you speak normal Canadian English to them. On the other hand, the English spoken in countries like India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan is much better. Of course there will always be the ethnic accent. I say this with conviction because I have married a Filipina and brought her and her son to Canada and half the time they cannot understand the phrases and sayings.

it is maybe beacause of the confidence level of whom you are speaking with.. yeah i agree that Filipino speaking English language is somehow deteriorating because of the quality of education they receive or how they live their daily lives but still English is our second official language.

they were colonized by the US briefly (about 4 years) I believe. To this day the Philippines and America have very good relations. Also, filipinos are known for travelling abroad and are good at picking up new languages. Its encouraged in filipino culture to learn english with the aim of using it in a different country one day.
@kikilalune68518 жыл бұрын
More like 48 years, almost half a century. American rule lasted from 1898-1946(end of World War II). During that time, English super-imposed Spanish as the lingua franca of the country, then later on added Filipino(based on Tagalog language) as equally second.

I notice that many Filipino can't even differentiate "nang" to "ng", "din" to "rin", etc. English is our second language but Filipino is our national languange. And to all 'coño' out there, if you're gonna start talking in English then finish it in English, as well if you will start in Tagalog. So annoying when people mix English and Filipino unnecessarily.

@edroyfernando6 жыл бұрын
Harvey Quinto yes many Filipinos may hardly differentiate "nang" and "ng". But "din" and "rin" are actually the same thing. Here in Tagalog, we sometimes mix "d" from "r" like "dumadating" sometimes pronounced as "dumarating" and "rumarating". Other examples are: Dati - rati Doon - roon
