I lived in Oahu, Hawaii as a kid and their food is so good! My favorites are fried meat jun, Kailua (or kalua, I can't remember lol) pork with cabbage, fried malasadas (my fave were from a food truck!), shaved ice from North shore, pineapple icecream from dole, chocolate covered macadamia nuts, spam musubis and just ugh so much other food. I think I got a bag of those macadamia nuts on the airplane lol. I flew a lot into there once I moved back to the states to visit my dad. But all the food is just a mix of cultures and so delicious. Like the meat jun is Korean inspired. The place we got it from was owned by one of my brothers friends dad from his boy scouts troop. I have never been able to fully create it and it makes me so sad! But my favorite snack tho was mochi crunch with all the different rice crackers but I'm sure thats a Japanese snack that everyone ate there :) I used to go to blockbuster ever weekend with my dad & get a bag to eat with the movie. Did that show my age? 😂

I’m away from home for a while and I’ve been craving kalua pig, real poke bowls, libby manapua, leonard’s malasadas, getting shave ice w ice cream on the bottom and li hing sprinkled on top, and going to shirokiya for bentos haha. Sadly libby closed down last year, shirokiya closed their stores and opened as a beer garden with lots of different food vendors. The ways to north shore and kailua beaches are even more crowded than ever (pre-pandemic) and it makes me wish I had gone out a lot more when I was younger. You can order mochi crunch and other crackseed online! Wholesale Unlimited (I’ve only been to the one in Salt Lake/Mapunapuna area) has them available to order on their website. Definitely helping my cravings haha super long reply to your comment but your food favorites got me 😄

@@LinosPreheatedAirFryer Kalua Pig (Cheaters style) 3-4 lbs pork shoulder or butt (You want something with a bit of fat on it) 5 T Kitchen bouquet (Found in the gravy or condiment aisle) 2 T Liquid smoke, hickory or mesquite (usually found next to kitchen bouquet) Rock or kosher salt 4 T minced garlic (I will deny telling you to add this because traditionally you don’t but…) Water Cut the pork butt into pieces. It doesn’t have to be pretty. Just manageable. About the size of a pork chop. Rub with salt and put in crock pot. Cover with water. Add garlic, Kitchen Bouquet, and liquid smoke. Stir with a wooden spoon. Put lid on. Set to high and let it cook for 5-6 hours until pork falls apart. Or for the instant pot, 60 mins on manual. Remove pork from liquid. Drain and pull apart. Taste to see if it needs salt. Add if it does. Put in baking pan and bake in 350º oven until top is crisp. This will also render any leftover fat. Serve with rice or sautéed cabbage.

I loved this video! I live in Hawaii and we love all these snacks. Yes, a lot of the snacks we have, have Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Filipino influences from the sugar plantation days in Hawaii. As we say here in Hawaii, Hawaii is a melting pot of different cultures. We indeed have a large Asian population here. So much of our cuisine is Asian influenced.

I actually really like li hing mui flavoring things. like we'd stick one of those in a half a lemon when we were sick, and the li hing mui powder on mango was amazing. Also the garlic macadamia nuts are so good, But now i keep on thinking of the other food, like how much i miss manapua, fried saimen, kalua pork... maybe i just need to make some musabi. 😅

I live in Hawaii and these are the top snacks tourists get. Heres a little Hawaii slang: everyone calls each other “Brotha” or “Sista” another is calling older people Auntie or Uncle, another thing people here do is they are very friendly and will talk to complete strangers who are just standing by them. For breakfast always try the Loco Moco (local breakfast). And don’t be alarmed by the amount of canned meat (spam) it comes in every flavor meat should and should not come in.

😂 weirdly that's just a stereotype! Came from having the pineapple plantations in the 1800s. But in Hawaii we really don't eat much pineapple lol other than a Dole Whip on occasion if I go to the plantation which is now a tourist attraction. I can't even think of one recipe that has pineapple in it. It's not a Hawaiian food. Local mangos, lilikoi, guava and my personal favorite lychee are much more common and beloved by all.

Hi Zoey and Yum! What if you guys would film a video trying out Korean snacks that us subscribers should try ourselves at home? That we can go to a Korean food store or make some ourselves so we can have a taste of South Korea! lots of love from the Netherlands x

ALOHA FROM HAWAII🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🌴🌈🏄‍♂️🌊🏝🌋🌅This is just a few snacks from Hawaii. We have more variety and can get a little creative with snacks by mixing different flavors. Since we are a melting pot of different ethnicities, we combine alot of flavors. Hawaii is home to alot of Asians so it'll be flavors that you will be familiar with. Glad that you guys enjoyed the snacks!

Oooooh My daughter in-law’s mom, from Hawaii, gave us those cornflake cookies last Christmas and they were my favorite treat of the year. So sad when you teach the bottom of the package 😁

I'm from Hawaii and have never been able to handle the li hing mui seeds ... the powder version is much easier to take ... you can sprinkle it on pineapple or bingsoo!

I don't want to make a deal out of possibly nothing. But I just checked out one of their older videos from a few months ago, and she's lost so much weight since they started the channel over a year ago. She looks healthy and happy so it's probably nothing and I'm just being silly, but I hope she's okay and it's not due to stress. She's beautiful and I love their channel. Randomness over 😅.

Li hing mui and other "crack seed" are meant to be left in your mouth for a while, similar to how you would chew on gum. The salt/sour flavor is supposed to keep your saliva flowing when you can't stop for water. The "Mexican flavor" is probably tamarind.

The third one are Japanese rice crackers, but very similar to Korean. We have so many different and many many more snacks in Hawaii.

The lihing mui is great if you get the red ones and put it in a lemon half and suck on it. Good for sore throats. She should have sent the powder instead to put on fruits like pineapple, mango apples or oranges.
