Even some Malaysian or Kelantanese itself can't eat budu with rice the way you guys eat it . We basically eat it with raw vegetables or fried egg and other dish. Just a few drop on top of the rice and mix it with your finger. And we don't slrupp the budu. Never! Haha . And i'm surprised when see you guys loves petai. I have a lot of friends who hate petai so much.

The simple way tu eat budu. A sunny side up egg. Chop some chili & onion,lime juice mix it with budu. A dash of sweet soy sauce on top sunny side up egg & white rice. Thats the best. Budu is a condiment,u cant have it just like that. Much u cant have ketchup alone.

Bila budu dibuat kuah. Goes well with warm rice only when both properly mixed tho. Pretty amazing when they pulled off well with petai cooked in sambal ikan bilis yum3. Bet them serve raw petai /pete they throwout for 3 generations

Budu is like sauce...u dont just eat sauce raw like that. U eat it wrongly. You can use the petai... dip it in the budu. You'll get a good combination.
