It looks like all the drum Volcas (beats/kick, sample, drum) and an NTS-1 (I’m guessing that VPN is similar and hopefully can have custom user patches, and the FX) crammed into one box and supercharged with an Elektron like sequencer…and I’m totally not hating it. I enjoy the design of the front panel layout, and those wood grain side panels look hot. It’ll go nicely with the Monologue I have and the Minilogue XD I plan to get

My first Korg was a DW-8000 back in 19 freakin’ 85 😎 I’ve been a Korg fan ever since. I’m super stoked on the new Drumlogue! Wow!

Ok so I have a Korg Electribe EM-1 with 64 step sequencer. And for longer sequences I have my D20, W30 and Q-80 to hook up to my Drumlogue which I bought on a whim. No regrets.

Good review 👍. For me the important thing is mojo - will it spark my creativity? You and Bobeats both seem to be having fun with it and sonically it works for me. Hopefully the standard Canadian price hike won't be too much.

Analog and showcasing the mixing / sonic controls that it has for the purpose of the video. Also it’s actually a pretty fun workflow to have sequencer / sounds separate as I mentioned in the video.

I think its a dope machine. Main feature i like, is that you can create a beat and browse thru kits, until something resonates with u. SImilar to the tr8s... However, I think the digitakt is still more versatile as a "groovebox".

It’s ok. I really wanted audio over USB. And if I know Korg they aren’t going to update it very much. I still feel burned by them just not updating the electribe 2. Something like the Tr 8s or even 6s is more appealing to me.

@@LiamKillen the no velocity, sensitive pads, low sample memory no SD card have to use the PC for sample Transfer hard to C shift buttons in a live setting. Little extra menu diving no knob for function. I’m not hating on. It sounds pretty good. I just don’t think this is my jam.

Almost Home - Yes it's standard. Sometimes it works well and they get people like Liam who know their shit but other times its a flop like the Wavestate launch where they got a bunch of people who didn't know shit who just played the factory presets [yawn] and cemented the idea that the Wavestate was just an ambient pads machine. [Edit: There is Loopop and although I respect him and his amazing videos I find them too deep for launch day. I like to find out whether a synth is interesting before going for a deep dive analysis.]

@@LiamKillen I think it has great possibilities! I just don't like the basic "analog" sound, the kick. Looks like you have to add the second sampler layer to make it sound a bit more beefy. Kick is just the most important part of a drum machine for me ;) Multiengine / VPN/ Nano sound interesting though

How do you find the drumlogue when compared to the drumbrute impact? I understand this is twice as expensive and includes sample playback as well as multi engine integration, so forgetting that for a moment. But just in terms of being an instrument, being a sequencer and in terms of analog sound, I'm curious to know what you think.

From what I hear, the Kick on the Korg sounds rather boring (small, unidimensional), while the Kick of my Impact sounds Ace (boom) !! Unfortunately, otherwise the Korg would look like my first choice Drum Machine

I just got one, delivered today and it has some limits you did not talk about. Analog section is simplified, not hard at all. Some more control is accessible via menu diving…thx God! Because I wouldn’t buy it. Will test is today. If there is some nice snappiness, attack and if it cuts through the mix well.

@@LiamKillen Well, my scepticism disappeared after a few sessions with it! Still, 35gb memory makes me hate Korg but it is better then nothing! Actually worse thing is that it plays only 4sec. long samples but there is a way around it. Besides that…I’m very satisfied! 🥰

Lacks character and feels like it’s just catching up to the competition, not pushing things forward. I have yet to see a video on this where there is genuine excitement present, just people doing their jobs making the content.

Thanks for the review! I was very hyped to finally see and hear the drumlogue and i have to say, it is very underwhelming. I can`t imagine having a lot of fun to jam on this thing because of the knobs/button layout. The sound is also not very appealing. Sorry korg, this one is not for me for sure.

Nice Arduino based drum machine that has useless analog parts. It was better and cheaper with just samples instead of those 4 analog parts. If Tr8s will have individual groove templates and swings like this one will be a Game Over
