I had a DW8000 way back in the day. It was one of my favorites of all the classic synths ive owed and ive pretty much had them all. I even was able to create a first class electric piano sound on it.

super!!! I played a DW-8000 a year ago, it was in the "synth room" of a studio i was working. After the first chord I pulled up a stool and played through the presets for awhile, couldn't believe just how big the sound was on most of the patches. Didn't have PWM, but I was thoroughly impressed. Thank you for the video Paolo!

Are these patches you got from a tape or a site? I just got a DW in a trade - it rules. Came with the original user manual and tape with factory patches. Also came with a tape that has 6 sets of patches from a company called DEEP MAGIC from nyc 1986. Tried them out. Wild stuff. ✌️

@derekbaker32795 жыл бұрын
No. Rush's "2112" was released in the mid-1970s, and the Korg DW-8000 was built in the mid-1980s.

You inspired me to take my DW8000 out of the case and play it "this year"...It had the Angel City md on there for extra banks.Now I have to remember how to access them-or find the documentation.By any chance do you have "The YES"bank of patches that were supposed ly designed by/for Rick Wakeman around the time of Tormato?(I could be wrong...) I'd love see hear demo bt you.Thanks
@EgoShredder6 жыл бұрын
The YES Tormato album came out in 1978, and the Korg DW-8000 in 1986 I think. So do you mean the 1986 patches were based on sounds from 1978? Wow never knew that.
@MrSonis36 жыл бұрын
I think the patches might have been for Big Generator, but I wouldn't know for sure as I have never listened to anything they did past Drama. They're at the bottom of this web page: pallium.com/bryan/dwpatches.php

It lacks the arpeggiator, if I am not wrong, but It worths anyway!!
@dayglo986 жыл бұрын
it has the basic up down across multiple octaves but the best thing about this synth's arpeggiator (and I dont see it mentioned often) is that you can play up to 64 notes in sequence and it will play it back. That can also be spanned to other octaves too.

SlammingSamples Really? How?
@DjZelous6 жыл бұрын
I doubt it's any danger unless you are really pulling massive amounts of power, plus if anything does go wrong your homes breaker box would click in and trip the breaker. There isn't any danger really
@slammingsamples88556 жыл бұрын
Jan Hauck it was a trick used in the 80’s on synths. Double power board = awesome synth tone. It’s all about the plastic and how it interacts with the power. Look it up.
@bradleyhove41776 жыл бұрын
It's safe as long as there's not a ton of high amperage stuff into them. Most conventional power strips are just three metal beams for the plugs, all wired together in parallel. Source: seen many of them fail and taken cheap power strips apart.
@maxamills19296 жыл бұрын
It seems like a synth that doesn’t know what it wants to be. A pad synth? An experimental fx synth? A punchy lead synth? It certainly seems average at best, and it may have some potential, but the patches surely are strange.
@schepler26 жыл бұрын
808 so you think every synth should have just one sound that it does well? Every synth must be a single-purpose machine? That's like saying the Minimoog is mediocre because it does both basses and leads well!
@maxamills19296 жыл бұрын
Trigger Warning No, I’m not not saying that. Synths aren’t single purpose so to speak, however the the DW800 seems the try too many different things at once, inevitably being mediocre in each category (pad, lead, bass, fx, etc.). I think the DW8000 has great pad sounds, and some punchy brass patches, but it falters in all other capacities.
@HatredPrime6 жыл бұрын
This synth has fast cpu, envelopes and lfos it also has aftertouch, you can adres envelopes and filter to pressure sensitivity - so unlike other 80s synths with digital control you can make punchy basslines. There is onboard digital delay with dedicated lfo. This thing is known for its pads. Maybe you want to buy it and didn't want to prices go up after this demo?
@dayglo986 жыл бұрын
808 that's just nonsense. Did you try one yourself? Looked at any 'patches' vid on KZbin? This is a great synth.
