I got both of them, and love being able to take them with me outside in the summer..! Some things are a bit limited (like one modifier, local effect, and envelope per track, as well as not having a full ADSR envelope), but other things are really good for such a small and affordable "all in one" product (like the selection of waveforms on the synth version, and being able to layer up to 16 oscillators - which allows for creating some very authentic drum sounds, as well as other types of samples). On top of this, i think they are just really cool looking devices, with a great workflow..! I would never trade mine for any other instrument (that im aware of) in the same price range. EDIT: Actually, the price of both these are not too far from "Komplete Ultimate". Of course, this is software, so you need a computer ro run it, and computers dont provide that same "hands on" experience as hardware... Some also believe analog creates nicer sounds - but that can easily be emulated with some modifiers on a digital synth. Considering that "Reaktor 6" allows you to design your own synths, samplers, effects, sequencers, etc - with basically no limitations except your skills, and what your computer can handle - to me, this seems like *the best* music production options on this planet..! And with all the other stuff you get in the "Komplete" packs, its a simple choice - for me... Very happy to have both Komplete 11 Ultimate and both the electribes :P

So does a pattern set include samples? Or is there a way of saving banks of samples, at the very least 16 pads worth of samples?
@ZafroSoundz3 жыл бұрын
It just sets your pattern to that pad. This is the music station(grey) not the sampler version (black) of the electribe 2. It doesn't have samples.

@@ZafroSoundz okay thank You for the reply. I am interested in the sampler but it's hard to find info to answer your questions when the terminology is so different then what you are used too. You're welcome. I've not tested it but I guess you could chain all 250 available patterns and of course, if you set up a loop it will loop round indefinitely until you break the chain by using the select knob or pattern set function to select another pattern.

If you want to motion record a filter knob slowly turning while going through multiple patterns can that motion be saved after? It's obvious that motions can be recorded throughout one pattern but can it be saved throughout multiple patterns like the electribe em1?
@ZafroSoundz5 жыл бұрын
Only by recording the motion in one pattern, then write, then write to the next pattern and continue your sweep. I don't think you can record through multiple patterns. As soon as a pattern changes and it hasn't been written then it reverts back to its last written state. This is one of the limitations, especially frustrating as notes are cut off when a pattern changes. I've tried everything I can think of to get round this but to no avail.
@mattspazmatic5 жыл бұрын
@@ZafroSoundz So a person has to memorize the value that the sweep was at during the last pattern, then set the next pattern to that parameter and roughly guess which speed they were moving at. Yikes. Thanks for the speedy reply!
@ZafroSoundz5 жыл бұрын
@@mattspazmatic Yes pretty much. If you watch my video on efx trails that goes some way to explaining writing patterns so they move into each other smoothly. I guess if you do your first sweep and then don't touch the knob you're twisting after the auto stop motion record happens, write the pattern , then write to the pattern you want to continue your sweep and make sure you haven't got knob catch on, then the knob will be in the correct position to continue your motion record. Saying all that though you can see the value of the knob you're twisting on the screen so as you say just remember the parameter, it does take a bit of work, grooveboxes have always and always will need work arounds for certain functions.
@mattspazmatic5 жыл бұрын
@@ZafroSoundz Awesome. Thanks for the tip and I'll check out the video! I'll sub too. And I think a big part of the fun is learning the work arounds for grooveboxes. They're kind of like puzzles. Puzzles that don't bore the shit outta me 🤣

have you had a go with event record ? I'm guessing you could use it to lay a track out and record all your pad mutes and stuff ?? The manual sucks or I'm really stupid lol
@ZafroSoundz2 жыл бұрын
Motion record doesn't record mutes only parameter movements. It's not a "track recorder" it's a recorder of parameter movements on existing tracks, it's been around since the korg ms2000.

@@ZafroSoundz oh ok it says knobs and pads in the manual I was thinking it's for exporting a track . problem I'm having is in chain mode you can't mute pad on each loop so it remembers soon as the loops change it obviously goes back to original state no way around this ?

I heard from a lot of people that there is a noticeable silence gap when changing from current to next pattern. But in your videos I really don't hear any silence when changing patterns. Is that fixed with some OS update or there are just some faulty devices with that gap? I'm planning to buy Electribe and i really need staight answer about this gap.
@ZafroSoundz7 жыл бұрын
The latest OS fixed the silence jump of the original machine but unfortunately unless you're careful pattern transitions can still be clunky. It will cut off notes. Look at my other video efx trails explained this touches on the subject. If you're careful you can get smooth transitions, it just takes a bit of patience and experimentation.

zafrosoundz thanks for the answer! I'm getting my Electribe in a week and I can't wait to play with it :D I have another question :D On the KORG website I saw that there are extra 200 patterns for Electribe available for download. So my question is, will those patters replace factory patterns or it will be added as extra patters (leaving factory patters in memory)?

Great ! So that means I could write full song structures and play bass and sing on top without having to change patterns manually ? It's actually the only piece of gear I could find which I could use to sample stuff, compose, and perform full songs live. One question though : how does the Electribe handles odd time signatures ?
@ZafroSoundz6 жыл бұрын
Hi there, yes you can make full songs but there are limitations (see other videos) and it's not the only thing out there to be fair but you'll be spending extra bucks for something better. If you're using the sampler version (this is the music station) I suppose you can add any samples you like regarding signatures (ie. loops in a certain signature) but this machine isn't a complex composer. You can't change time signatures, the best you will get is a poly rhythm by choosing the last step for each part.
@thedude42546 жыл бұрын
zafrosoundz what is your advice for live song performance from zero to full song? Something with bass drums and looping inside? Thanks!
@ZafroSoundz6 жыл бұрын
Depends on your style, but with me I try to have an intro, a main pattern, then variations of that pattern then an ending. Get a a few patterns together that you're happy with, jam with them, mute things in and out to see how it sounds, tweak your volumes and effects till you're really happy with the sound and parts, then, think about building a song. Experiment, jam, have fun. If you're not feeling something, bin it and move on, don't waste time with something you don't really like yourself, ideas should be spontaneous not forced.
@thedude42546 жыл бұрын
zafrosoundz graet advice,thank you. My questionis also that what i can use for that,all in one box? Is it electribe? Or something else? I have a guitar, ditto x4 looper, beatbuddy,and mic. There should be a sort of Edit mode in which you should be able to make a sort of song, but no only chaining, but also being able to edit it and mute instruments, or adding things, like for example in chaining mode you cannot mute things automatically, you have to do it manually of done in compass 2 or 3, or 4, you cannot automatize muting parts in the middle of a pattern, you can mute instruments and let them off in a pattern, but that means you have to spend another pattern and modify it to add it in the chaining. Also, there is something I dont like about chaining in this device. Sometimes in the chaining the transition between patterns is notorious, there is a small gap that cuts the cool thing about the music, but some other times patterns chained just seem to flow perfectly. I just dont know why my electribe just behaves according to its own mood, just like us, sometimes we get up and are cool and fluent, and other times we wake up in bad mood. That is just exactly what happens. For example if I wanted to record and I noticed the gap between patterns, I just turn it off, unplug and plug the power again, and turn the device on, so it gets solved.

I get what you're saying but in this price range you can't expect everything. You're looking at elektron equipment if you want that kind of control. Make sure you're on the latest firmware 2.02

@ZafroSoundz3 жыл бұрын
Fair opinion, but in it's defence the price is cheap, the form factor/portability is great and it's very quick to put down ideas. If you want something more complete then pay the money it's as simple as that. I use it as a sketch pad but also if I have something going it may just fill a part quickly and easily recorded into ableton then processed. It's not amazing standalone although you can get a lot out of it but it's main appeal for me is it''s versatility.
