This video is so awesome. Really shows just how far you can take the Electribe even after having it for such a short amount of time. Every time I sit down to practice on mine I learn something new.

@ArrayzableMusic9 жыл бұрын
Nupfi - Катзеnmusic Probably not. Marcus Kautz mentioned the very different workflow on the new Electribe vs the old ESX-1 that I have. And I'm just getting to know that one and is still very much in love with the easy and intuitive way it works. Beside that I also have some other gear in mind, though I'm actually pretty satisfied with my current gear. But your video has certainly showed me that the new Electribe can be used for a lot of different stuff - that's very coo! :)

wow, I'm now interested in getting one. I remember I used to play with the MX version like 10 years ago at Guitar Center. I'm glad Korg went back and decided to update the Electribe. It was a fun little box. It's cool that it's updated for better DAW support. I mean, it's limited, but it's a start. A least it makes your patterns into .wav files. So if you're not using ableton and using it's Ableton export feature, then you can use it with any DAW.

@basedvato9 жыл бұрын
Great demonstration. Question though, when you switch songs there's a slight delay - what if you what to change melody of a lead in a track... My old electribe I would just copy a pattern to the next slot and switch between them jamming to different scenes... Does this allow scenes within patterns?
@Aesprii9 жыл бұрын
@basedvato Hello there! No scenes within patterns unfortunately... But I really don't notice much of a delay to be honest. It has been fixed/made better via firmware update already and I am sure that you can minimize the delay with careful programming... :)

Its entirely different than the emx. This is an electribe, like the ES, ER and EA series electribes that cake out before the EMS and ESX. Hey can you use that entire bank of triggers for a single synth part? Or is the only way you can do note or chord progressions by using a single trigger and changing the pitch or note with a knob? In other words, can you layer synth patterns over a drum pattern by using the entire trigger bank like the EMX?
@Aesprii9 жыл бұрын
JackstandJohnny Hi JackstandJohnny! Unfortunately I don't own the EMX so I don't hink I can help you... The way you input notes (and chords) goes as following: first you select one of the 16 different trigger pads. Then you select the Oscillator for that pad. So you get 16 different Oscs (Instruments) for your track. Once you have a pad selected and your sound chosen you can now press the Keyboard button. This will turn the 16 pads into a keyboard which you can play to input your notes. :) Hope this helps!
@JackstandJohnny9 жыл бұрын
Yes it does! Thanks very much!

Nice work as always. Good to see you trying out all these grooveboxes. How does it compare to the OP-1?
@Aesprii9 жыл бұрын
Ah, thank you! :)) Regarding the OP-1 I've posted a comparison before.... I had both the OP-1 as well as the Electribe 2. I was returning the OP-1 after a few days. For 800€ it simply isn't worth it for me. :( The sampling capabilities are not that awesome on the OP-1 and you can only work on one "project" at a time (max length 5 min). On the Electribe I have 250 patterns aka projects to mess around with. The sounds of the OP-1 sound really digital and harsh sometimes. Also there are blips and blops when recording to tape; something that has to do with zero point crossing... Teenage Engineering never managed to fix this. Another big minus for me: recording seemed really destructive. You only get four tracks to record to, so this means a lot of overdubbing has to be done to make something complex. Without an undo function this soon became more "work" than joy. I really love the Electribe 2 because you basically get 16 tracks to work with per pattern. It sounds a whole lot better too than the OP-1. To my ears at least. One thing to consider: the OP-1 has a built in battery. So you can't switch it out yourself so easily wihout voiding your garanty. The display (OLED) looks gorgeous but I've heard issues of color fading after some time... so.... my vote and 2 cents defenitely goes to the new electribe!

what is the different between the black and the grey? (2 and 2s)?
@Aesprii9 жыл бұрын
Hi geminidj1! The grey one is the synth version and the black one is the sampler. Until the end of march / early april you can only get the synth version. Sampler is not released yet. :) Difference between the two: the synth version has a huge synthesis library and some pcm sounds but you are not able to import your own sounds. You have to sculpt the sounds that the electribe provides. The sampler version has fewer synthesis options but you can import your own samples. You have to be careful though: there are some limitations on sound length etc.... :) Hope I could help!

+Jason Stoehr If you've got the technical chops and are feeling adventurous you can give the firmware swap a go. There's no guarante things won't go wrong, but I've had no trouble switching back and forth as long as the card has been formatted in the electribe beforehand. Personally I'm saving up for an MPC to put on sampling duty since I've found the sampling and editing workflow in the E2S to be too clumsy for my taste. It reminds me of the old S2000 I used to have, which is not a good thing.

Nice work! How do you find the synth sounds on this unit? Expansive or restrictive?
@Aesprii9 жыл бұрын
Hello! :) Thanks a lot! Synth sounds are awesome! Everything sounds good "out of the box" but there is plenty tweakability (lol is this even a word?) there. :) So my vote goes to "expansive".

Nupfi - Катзеnmusic excellent! I thought as much =) the second to last track on this vid sounds awesome. I'm thinking a proper set would last up to an hour on one of these things!

Cool. You got the new Electribe. Is it better than the previous version or just different?
@Aesprii9 жыл бұрын
Heyho! As someone who never owned the previous models I am afraid I am unable to answer this question! :D But from things I've heard it seems it is different. :)
@janxenjanxen9 жыл бұрын
Nupfi - Катзеnmusic the previous version is that bleu one... has more bombastic sounds it seems.
@janxenjanxen9 жыл бұрын
***** really? I get the idea that the sounds of the new Electribe sounds a bit more artificial than the previous older Electribe... that's why i didn't buy the new one yet, although i'm a big Electribe fan.

JANXEN with an X The Strings are AWESOME on the New Electribe...It also sounds more Analog as clear..the Clarity of the sound is so pure. I had both and will say the new one outbeats the old one in sound design

its a great device, really got under my skin, but you have to be subtle with it coz it kind of sounds like a Christmas tree without shining it with some fx :v
@Aesprii9 жыл бұрын
Haha nice comparison! ;D

with the tr8 (as in my case) or any sort of real analog drum companion makes it sound real...
@dubment9 жыл бұрын
im only left with a volca bass and im really happy how operates via midi from the tribe in to the tr8 and out in to a quadra thru expander but i wanna get back the beats atleast and a proper synth to save some voices on the tribe coz i changed my microbrute and vkeys for the last one in stock just last saturday :v :D

is "Final Fight" a preset? I wonder if it has anything to do with the game.
@Aesprii8 жыл бұрын
+Mike Watkins Hey Mike! These are all my patterns, no preset on this video. :) I am a huge video game fan, so you spot the inspiration... ;)

@Patritz9 жыл бұрын
did you compose this music or are you just pressing loops?
@Aesprii9 жыл бұрын
Patritz Hi Patritz! Every sound and note you hear has been composed by myself, only using the device you see. :) With the Electribes you can record your notes on the different trigger pads and then be able to play them in a live situation. It's lots of fun and goes far beyond pressing loops because you have to make the music before you can perform. :) No samples here!

you got such small hands so you have no problem mine are to big for the knobs they should of spaced then out a bit more coz their is 2 inch's on the tribe doing nothing .squashing the knobs toghr=er dont make the tribe any smaller ..
@Aesprii9 жыл бұрын
j j Yeah, small hands do benefit but can be an obstacle too sometimes... playing my bass for example. ;)

Hey Ross! No I am not on soundcloud (yet?). Just had a listen to some of your tunes. Cool stuff you have up here! Are you making a new one soon? Maybe with the new electribe? :) Or are you still on the fence?
@rossmclean889 жыл бұрын
Thanks, yeah these videos are pretty old.. I mainly just focus on tracks now.. I don't actually have the new emx yet, I have a shot of a MicroBrute at the minute and it is very very good, that will be my next purchase:) .. You should get on soundcloud lol, here is a link to mines for my more recent sounds.. Hope to see you on there soon. www.soundcloud.com/ross-mclean
