The big question is has Korg improved their hammer action to compete with Kawai and Yamaha. Sound is one aspect, but feel is just as important.
@InspirationSessions10 ай бұрын
More important, I often find - would rather have best-in-class action and second best sound than the other way around

i like the rh3 myself
@keyboardtek10 ай бұрын
I was a Korg servicer for 36 years. The RH3 action was always in for broken plastic keyweights and subchasis parts. Particularly from Gospel players and rock player who are heavy handed.
@arcticfoxstudios201810 ай бұрын
@@InspirationSessions if I'm spending between 3-5 grand for a top notch board, I need both. Luckily the Nord Grand and the Yamaha YC88 have that. The Kawai's are also in the realm. Hoping Korg can match or better the existing competition.

Action-wise, KAWAI is always top notch.

Does it have the same action that the Kronos 88 had about five years ago? If so, be prepared for frequent broken plastic subchassis and keyweights.

How long does it take to boot? The old Grandstage took 38 seconds - WAY too long if anything goes wrong live

That's a ridiculously long time

it takes a few seconds but not 38!

I"m going to Namm tomorrow. I'm really curious how the keys RH3 feel on it--that's what I really want to try. I doubt they would let me touch that thing, but maybe they have another RH3 keybed for us to try. I love that it has a Rhythm section as a bonus.

It’s not like my MP11se. It’s probably competing with the Nord grand or stage but if I recall, it doesn’t have wooden keys. I don’t particularly like Korea feel anyway. I was at NAMM

I’m wondering what will be Roland’s answer. When will they replace the rd 2000?? It has been around from 2017.
@Jason7591310 ай бұрын
RD-2000 has been bested by every brand as far as sound at varying price points, even from Roland themselves. I'm told it is a killer _master keyboard_ for setups with multiple keyboards. That's where its strength supposedly lies.

I'm thinking about selling my guitar pedals and buying one of these. Piano is such a beautiful instrument and I like this one a lot. Three grand is kinda steep but still, what a cool keyboard ❤

Why design after the ugliest gadget on the market? Maybe as a stage spectacle for Rush or something?
@Jason759137 ай бұрын
How is PS5 ugly? It fits in with the modern aesthetic. I don't love it, Roland and Yamaha both make more stylish-looking gear than anything Korg, but Korg could have done much worse.

Rhodes pianos
@Zoco1018 ай бұрын
This instrument looks and sounds impressive. But the term "stage piano" sounds weird, since (digital) stage pianos are not typically played as pianos while on stage. I like Korg, and I'm sure the Grandstage X will have lots of applications, but I know plenty of pianists who are switching away from "stage pianos" now that the (quicker-to-learn, cheaper-to-buy) portable digital pianos are improving. Not all stage pianos are expensive. Roland's RD-88 and RD-08 are interesting cut-down stage pianos competing with portable pianos (and I like them) but Roland has also edged its bets with the FP-60X and FP-90X - portables which cross right over into stage piano domain.

Korg had the most realistic rhodes since the kronos line was introduced. The korg rhodes are thick, gritty and fun. I know the korgs are not built with good pianos like the Yamahas and Rolands butthe rhodes are super.
@VadimShinnik10 ай бұрын
The only Rhodes that I liked from KORG was in VOX Contintental. It is really different from everything they have on the market! This also applies to Wurlitzer. And in general, unfortunately, most people have focused too much attention on how acoustic and electromechanical sounds in Yamaha, Roland, NORD...
@SmallAxeMP10 ай бұрын
@VadimShinnik yeh, you are right. I am sure when they were making those Rhodes backbthen if they could eliminate the noise,etc, they wouldn't. Instruments evolve and should move from certain things.
@Jason7591310 ай бұрын
Kronos and Nautilus pianos have greater fidelity over the competing workstations, wtf? Now if we start talking about stage and digital pianos like YC-88, P-125, RD-88, FP60X, and so forth, then yes, Kronos gets beaten in acoustic piano sound, but so do the Fantoms, MOXF, and Montage. Korg's own SV-2 also beats Kronos at e.piano.
@jeremythornton43310 ай бұрын
Cool, but it's still basically just a baby Kronos. The big question out there is when is Korg coming out with a true successor to the Kronos? The Nautilus just isn't it. I play a lot of drawbar organ and I use the faders a lot. Those need to be kept.

This or Nord Grand 2 ?

If only between this two instruments - Nord Grand 2, especially if you focus on acoustic and electromechanical sounds. But pay attention to Viscount Legend 70's [Wood], you can listen some demos on my channel.

Which one is the best when compare with Nord Grand2?
@kingjames828310 ай бұрын
Initially I was interested but went to the website and nothing. There are zero spec's for this unit which is a big turn-off. I currently have a Kawai 88-key keyboard with long woodcore keysticks with textured synthetic tops, and Grand Piano 3 sensor hammer action which means it plays and feels like a real acoustic grand. If this one has plastic/metal keys, then I'm just not interested. I've got two plastic toy keyboards from Yamaha and Casio from twenty years ago sitting in the closet, I don't want to add another. Maybe Korg can come out with a stand alone sound module of this piano that I can plug into my Kawai.
