the dave smith killer synth. i got one in a whim. didnt expect anything at all. But my friend didnt want it and it was sitting under his bed in the original box. so i gave him 500 dollars and took it home, since i loved my radias and this was a newer generation i figured why not. . no stepping or any zipper noise. best virtual analog i ever bought. does oberheim and prophets perfect. and has all the filters you could want. This is an amazing demo of the king korg.

very good demo and really well done to showcase some well built patches and the kingkorgs attributes. As far as VA synth are concerned this one is at the top of my list. It has such an incredible sound that comes from the incredibly accurate filter emulations. It doesn't sound cold like most even compared to the virus this synth really holds its own. I have had one for a bit on loan and really want to buy one. I don't think it's worth a grand that's my only gripe. if the brought it down to say 750 or 800 bucks I would pick one up. Its so hard to find a used one for that price. Had one at guitar center used for 650 ..so I called and someone was literally there buying it at the same time. I just have terrible luck with used gear but really I didn't find anything that let me down when I played this. Sure more modulation would be nice and controls but it's actually quite comfortable once you dive in and as always there is more under the hood. But its a very nice synth engine.

Finally, a really great KingKorg demo. (the best I've yet heard IMO) I'm hoping to buy this synth eventually. I hate synth demos that are 5 minutes of talking, followed by 30 seconds of playing. I also dislike demos where the person spends too much time on 1 patch/sound. 15 to 30 seconds is sufficient to demo 1 patch/sound. I like demos that showcase many sounds & yours does that. ;-)

Robbinsffxi I thought it would bother me more... but the assignable JS (as opposed to dual wheels from most synths) truly made up for the lack of aftertouch (at least for me) More then that, I personally found useful only on Kronos, but that's because it can stack so many different timbers that the extra control is almost mandatory.

Can anyone explain what's the difference between this keyboard and a true analog synth? I don't fully understand the concept of analog modeling vs fully analog and the difference in terms of sound. Thanks for your help.
@transharmonic56387 жыл бұрын
analog modeling is created on a computer and or sampled from and original synth then integrated onto a computer chip and put in a keyboard... Real analog synths had real analog circuitry--Oscillators,,Filters--the sound was somewhat unstable but gave it that classic big warm character, nothing sounds quite like that even today!!
@krakapoww7 жыл бұрын
analog modeling is 1s and 0s, digitally created to make sounds, real analog is actual old school circuits and components creating the sound. sort of a minidisc vs vinyl thing. the minidisc is 1s and 0s, the vinyl has the sound carved into the record

Find an old tube radio for $2 at a junk store. Turn it on at night when the stratosphere is higher. Then turn the knob between stations and listen to the smooth, intricate hums and squeals -- even noise and hiss. It's ecstasy, You'll get the idea. That's analogue.

i have both. the king korg engine is a generation ahead no zipper noise, stepping or anti aliasing. it sounds better than the radias. Radias has a few more features though. The virtual analog filters on the king allow it to do an amazing prophet and OB sound. The king really is king. but i will never sell the rafias or m3 cause i use them to make house music.

@@stephenwiley5617 because the arps don’t let you hear the engine effectively, and makes the synth sound like a thousand other ones.
