I do not have a kronos but I still enjoyed the video and in particular your excellent knack for teaching using simple terms that one ,like myself with no formal music education can still grasp the gist of the lesson . some people are natural teachers! Thanks so much, keep showing us cool stuff!!!

I have composed at least 25 good, solid songs of various genres on my Kronos. After 10 years of owning this so far, it just amazes me, the things this keyboard, that runs on a small processor and little RAM can really do. I have set mine up, as best I can, to use almost all the 16 timbres in any particular combi with all four karma modules used, simultaneously, for any given song. It's hard for me to avoid it losing polyphony because of it. So, it's an art within itself, to make everything work in a song that I want to, and trying to keep the polyphony situation under control. I invested the Karma Kronos program for the PC. With it, once I learn how, can have 8 more Karma scenes added, a total of 10 Karma modules, once that is set up, an extra 8 pads and other features that I don't have right on the keyboard. So in doing this, going through a Behringer X32 mixer, Waves Soundgrid Impact combo, Waves Superrack and other programs, that hopefully I can somehow, send all the timbres individually to their own channel on the mixer and Waves program, so I can play everything in real time.

@@ivnsports518 10 years later, there is still nothing that can touch it. Not Roland, Nord, Yamaha. None of them. If anyone knocks it, then they don't get it, or they are more basic synth oriented. But anything having to do with the synth alone, I can still do it all on the Kronos too. I see comparison after comparison. The best investment I ever made.

@@hoozerob thank you. You are absolutely right. I'm reading and watching recent reviews and the bar is so high that it's really impressive how the Kronos still superbly excels nowadays both in the studio and on the stage. I got mine when the 1st generation came out like 10 years ago but had to sell it in 2015. I needed the money back then but I always enjoyed the 1st gen. of Kronos. Astonishing how its competitors are struggling to bridge the gap and despite the fact the Kronos came out a decade ago. Considering right now buying the 73 keys version, around 2600e here in Europe. Regards.

@@ivnsports518 Definitely not the least expensive, but it's not the most expensive either. The price is still pretty much what they were when they first came out, which is when I bought mine. It's almost identical to the latest updated versions. There's just a little more RAM, storage space, programs added, and they look a tad different with the side plates and overall coloring on the limited versions. The libraries are apparently not arranged in the same order either. Other than those things, it's identical. Some people have even said they slightly prefer the oldest version, for small reasons. I would love for Korg to make a "King Kronos", of some kind. Where it would have mega RAM, huge processor, twice as much timbres/tracks, twice the pads options( without having to by an app like Karma Kronos), at least twice the Karma modules and scenes), and to make it easier to integrate it with DAWs and other software. Sure, it would probably cost twice as much, but I would save to buy it. It would be the King of all keyboards. I personally only have the Kronos. No other keyboard. Don't need another, don't want any other extra. Everything I hear on any keyboard, I can do on the Kronos. I also discovered, that using both a Nano pad2 and Nano key2 hooked directly to the back of the Kronos, by default and without making any settings changes in Global Settings, that I can do even more amazing things with this beast. The Japanese, still are on top of the game over China in aspects like this. Let's see the Chinese make one of these! ;)

@@hoozerob Absolutely spot on. After scrutinizing, analyzing and pondering the flagship workstations in the market for over the last months, the Kronos still on top. No question about it. I've tested extensively both the Roland Fantom and the Montage, arguably Kronos direct competitors. There´s a shop where I live with a huge array of keyboards, synths, workstations, digital pianos etc on display and I've spent a lot of time testing all of them. The Montage overall is pretty good, solid and refined sounds but less powerful than the Kronos...and way more expensive. The 76 key version does not feature weighted keys and still more expensive than the Kronos 73. The new Fantom looks great and sounds so good but again...not sure it's superiority over the Kronos and despite the fact that Roland has made a huge effort in order to accomplish that by using the most modern tech available...and again way more expensive. The 73k version doesn´t feature weighed keys either and to be honest I'm proud of my FA08, a very notable keyboard with one of the best key actions in the market. Finally I purchased the Kronos 73, almost identical to the original Kronos I bought nine years ago. I wasn´t sure that version featured weighted keys but the seller confirmed it (there was a Kronos 88 on display but with semi weighted keys, I have no idea what version was). I didn´t even bother to test it. I paid and I took it. Serious stuff when a keyboard released a decade ago still got the nod against the current competition. I´m not going to get rid of my old but versatile Kross, a useful tool when gigging due its portability and lightness. Thanks for your assesment. Btw I came across over the last months several comments you posted in other K Kronos reviews out there, always interesting. Cheers.

Paul Birch Even now, when you look at the new Fantom and Montage, Kronos has an unbelievable amount of power. Aside from a more modern UI and more memory, it’s hard to see what Korg could do to decisively improve upon it.

Does this have many Arpeggiators on board whats the difference between Karma and Arpeggiators.
@IrishActs5 жыл бұрын
An Arpeggiator is something different, it's a more ridged and predefined pattern of values based on the notes your playing. KARMA is vastly more fluid in every way imaginable. So while you can do basic Arpeggiator type patterns with KARMA, it much much more than an Arpeggiator. Think of it like an Arpeggiator / Hybrid Arranger that also able to generate additional notes and data beyond the preset KARMA GE's you select. It's not so easy to explain as it's a very deep and advanced system that generates more than just note data.

Hello, good tutorial. Can you tell me if drum patterns and karma are fixed for each tone, or can you assign any karma and any drum pattern to any tone? Thanks.
@killerdoxen5 жыл бұрын
No, they are not fixed. You can select any Karma scene, stock or user created, and the drum track can be changed. For the drum track, you can use any kit and any pattern. In combination (combi) mode, you can have up to 4 Karma modules running at once, each operating one of the voices in the combi. Drum track is also available in that mode as well.
