Thank you for your video. Using wavesequences as argegiator is a good idea, in particular with HD-1 engine. For the other engines, EXi, we can use Common Step Sequencer.

Hey king. That should not be to hard. In funky town they just use an octave jump like you said. With what i described here build a wave sequence where first note is C2 second is C3. a twelve step transpose on each second note. That's all there is to it. I'm almost sure it can be done also with 'standard' Karma. I'll look into that and may make a second video if i find the time.

Excellent, thanks so much. Apparently, Korg has a deal with the Karma developer and does not want us to know this, so we all buy his useless and way too expensive software.

I'm glad it helps but i would not call Karm software useless. It has it's merits but it is way too complex for me. I whish it had a simple step sequencer. That way we could input harmonies too.

When I received my Kronos I was real excited only to find some disappointment later because it seemed impossible to make your own user Arpeggio's without using external Karma software. FEAR NOT! It can be done and is not difficult once you know how. I have a lot of respect for the builder of Karma but honestly I find his software intimidating and it's too complex for me. I could not believe that KORG would have built such a machine and not allow the user to make his own arpeggio's on the machine itself so I searched and searched and searched some more. As far as I know this is ( was :-) )not documented. It just takes the right settings. Once you have one combi that works you can easily save the existing combi under another name. Make a new step sequence, assign it to a program and your good to go. Should you have more questions, let me know. If you want to know how to make a step sequence I can recommend QUI ROBINEZ. Look him up on youtube. He has some great toturials. Furthermore, once you have a user Arpeggio setup, experiment some with the parameters as they will allow you make variations on the step sequence you have made. Specifically the rhythm Pattern allows for some cool variations. Have fun and let me know if you like this! Happy new-year everyone.

Thank you, but real arpeggio react to different cords, and this one is just a fixed wavesequence transposable only in pitch, not harmony.. So I'll still have to buy this Kronos Karma Software.. To try to create a custom GE which enables me using Karma switches as a pattern input..
@Fordirk1

Yes Aziz, you are right. The old synths were often monophonic and used effects to make a sequnce more interesting. I do not claim this method replaces anything. It's just one more way to use this incredible machine. Thanks for reaction and observations.

Hello, Thank you for you vidéo, one thing i didn't understood it' s how the rythm of our synthbass is arrived ? Do you create it before on the sequence And you used it after on All your explanation or it was an existing loop. I would like to create my loop with the sequencer And after to used it in combination. Until today i didn't find the was for that, in you have any idéal, i will appreciate. Thank you very much

Great! I have a new rock covers band with my wife playing keys on a kronos. She has trouble emulating guitar riff with fast picking repeated notes. Like the galop on iron Maiden songs. We could use this to trigger the galop pattern with just one press of the key, right? Also, how do we sync the arp to the live band? Tap tempo? Or can the karma understand the tempo if she just plays repeating 4th notes in the bands tempo to trigger the sequence? Thanks
@Fordirk1
@Fordirk1 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Antonio. Thank you for you reaction. The Tempo control allows you to change the speed. If you want to synch it with the band I guess you will have to make sure they can hear a click track comming from the Kronos if that is your master tempo or have something else deliver a click track and feed midi time code into the kronos. In this last case you should set the clock to external on the Kronos. Synths can use an internal clock or receive sevral type of timecode via midi to enbable them to synch to external devices like drumcomputers etc.
@AntonioRockGP
@AntonioRockGP 3 жыл бұрын
@@Fordirk1 thanks a lot for your reply! This band will not play to a click. I have several other bands/shows were we use clicks, backing tracks, full productions were even the lights sync to the click track. However, in this band, we really want that old school free rock live sound. That was the whole idea of forming the band... I guess she can just tap the tap tempo button along with the band? Am I wrong?

@@AntonioRockGP If you and yours are still playing with that band some three years later, I can tell you as a keyboardist who sometimes writes/plays with bands based on a "metal rhythm section plus keyboardist" framework, because the timing of the gallops is so critical in the metal genres I will typically just play a simplified rhythm to accent the main pulse or "gist" of the rhythm, if you will. E.g., do you know how one might count 1/16th notes as "one ee and uh"..? Well while the guitars are galloping/treading in their various combinations of dotted 1/8 notes paired with 1/16ths (i.e., the most common "galloping" rhythms found in heavy metal guitar genres) , I will generally skip some of the 1/16ths that fall on the "ees" or "uhs" so that i'm primarily just providing some light sonic backing for the underlying pulse of what's happening, if that makes sense. Or to put it in a much simpler wording: you could just ask her to "dumb it down" and play only some of the notes, but keeping a careful ear about it so she's playing just those notes that signify the main pulse of that section's rhythm. The key is to just blend in and refrain from playing *all* the notes so as to not muddy things up.

Thanks, @fordirk1. Sounds like a great idea as I really miss the ability to create custom arpeggios. But I can't get it to work, sadly. My wave sequence plays just once even if latch is on. And if it *is* on, I can't trigger the wave sequence again. I've followed the video instructions to the letter but I feel like I'm missing a step somewhere. Is it possible for you to make the combi available?
