I have recently purchased the Kronos, and I am absolutely impressed with the sounds and functions - I used to have triton studio and have never been like this unit

I understand your plight dude,but be glad that you got a comprehensive DVD tutorial,because such videos didn't exist 10 years ago. I've been using Korg workstations for decades and back then,KZbin didn't exist,so I had nothing and nobody to help me. If you have experience with PC workstations,then getting your head around the Kronos shouldn't be too difficult. Stick with it & you'll eventually realize that Korg has the most fluent workflow among all of the hardware workstations out there.

Andy asks a very good question and I'm right in line with Asotam on the answer - in live performance it's nice to queue up the next patch but not commit to it. So, get it ready to go and then all you have to do is hit Enter. In a lot of synths it's the only way to keep the previous sounds and effects active without an abrupt silence. I'm beginning to switch to a foot controller that 'steps' through patch-after-patch but that requires a very regimented performance routine.

Kronos seems like the best workstation on the market for its price , how ever i think it should have been launched instead on the oasys a few years back ... i still use my korg triton a lot but mostly as a midi controller , my KP3 i would say the functions and features are still all used no matter how old it gets

Same with OASYS. I admire those who are in command of it. For me, it's a jungle I am trying to solve.

Not familiar with Yamahas or Rolands - but this thing is a monster. I have OASYS; recently, I had a discussion with an expert who highly recommended to add Kronos next to my OASYS because it has some significant advantages over the OASYS (many to list here), where OASYS can process the sound due to its superiority in that dept. I'm really thinking hard about getting Kronos, too.

I've been trying to figure this out for over a year now. I know how you feel. I can get around but there is so much to learn I don't get to focus on learning to play. Still it's fun and ..oddly satisfying because it is like a good book that you don't have to worry about getting to the end.

How do you layer sounds together? Also, how do you save these layers in a sound bank and bring them up fast at a gig?
@micanut4811 жыл бұрын
You're not alone. Have been wrestling with it ever since I got it. Maybe we can share some tips in the future? I thought I am doing some steps wrong but it was my hard drive taking a dump. At the present, OASYS's in shop so when it comes back to me, it will be like brand new. Can't wait! Have you recorded any music yet?
@AndyMontgomeryPiano12 жыл бұрын
I'm not an owner of this keyboard but there is one thing I find annoying and that is to use the enter button to verify you have selected a sound - It would be interesting to hear from owners if that slows up the preset changing process in a live situation!

Hello sir.. in my Kronos 2 .... key C4 is having some issue... I have to apply more force than other key key to play the key C4... What would be the problem??? It's only happening only with SGX2 engine with other engine is fine..
@0194D12 жыл бұрын
Yeah you shouldn't have got it. This is aimed at people who are moderate to expert keyboard users, who have a good amount to a lot of experience with keyboards, sound engineering and music terminology and technology. A music keyboard workstation I would recommend for you would be the Open Labs Neko XXL, if you wanted to start out on a big keyboard workstation that is less complicated than the Kronos.

@suitandtieguy13 жыл бұрын
when this guy explains that the majority of the factory presets were HD-1 but the entire rest of the instrument could be used for EX sounds i thought i was watching Look Around You and had to double check. after 6 years of development you'd think this wouldn't be an issue.
@asotam12 жыл бұрын
The opposite is true. Lets say you are playing a song and you know that the next patch you need is Bank-B 125, you can press Bank "B" and then "125", but dont hit Enter. Then, when the time comes to switch to the new patch, all you have to press is "ENTER". One key press, thats it. You just have to always think ahead for the next patch.

The next kronos really needs a new layout, I tried it in a store and it really feels like a computer in a keyboard and some knobs and sliders glued on. They need to change the knobs and buttons to make it more clear. Give them different colors if they don't belong together. Also the touch screen menu really feels like end-90's.

What took you so long to put a nice Piano and some Rhodes in a keyboard if only they had put it in earlier than now, but even so well done korg. Always leading the way except the fact they never had any good piano and rhodes tone in them but now they do Motif is going to sleep for a while. One dislike on the hardware side is that the sliders are cheap and ugly like a old "AM RADIO" I think alot of us would prefer something like the Motif or Roland.

All i can say the more you learn the more you find out how powerful these guys are. In time you wont be sorry i think :) go some place and try out an M3 if you get to feeling yer lost on this one though.

The synth engines are awesome, but seriously those acoustic instrument sound nothing like the real deal. I know that HD1 is a great PCM engine but lazy KORG you have to go back to the studio and make some new samples instead of using ones from recording sessions 10-15 years ago! I know I own the OASYS and most of the presets shown here are in the OASYS as well, which was released 9 years ago.
@JamieRowlandthejamieusrowlando10 жыл бұрын
Yep that is true. I let one of my friends borrow it for a week. He owns a Triton Studio and said a lot of the sounds from the Kronos have been recycled from the old Korg Workstations. It feels slighty dated, but I still love it.
@chicoandtheman75999 жыл бұрын
Jamie Rowland And Roland & Yamaha don't do the same thing? The sounds on the Fantom, Integra 7, & FA are the exact same sounds that are on the 15 year old XV5080 and SRX/JV boards. Roland hasn't released a new sound/sample in a decade. Yamaha isn't much better. I love my Kronos, but Honestly, NONE of the acoustic instruments on ANY of the high end workstations sound like the real deal. (w/the exception of pianos & drums) If you want realistic sounding acoustic instruments, you need to use software. Personally I'm into analog modeling/virtual analog synths.
@basspig4 жыл бұрын
Agreed. The guitars lack articulation. Some of the woodwind instruments are in a similar situation. Kronos has strengths seem to be percussion drums tonewheel organs and pianos.
@alphasxsignal12 жыл бұрын

Somethings wrong with this! with all the major players.. This does not sound good! Whats the point! They are looking to make a buck! I think the work station concept is dead. If it weren't for latency I would not bother with one! I like to input drum sounds from a keyboard, and I love the big window and the touch thing! The sound sucks.. Why are their no better vids for these products.. I would love to hear someone create crazy stuff.
