I have played this piano. Im novice at best, and still spent two hours playing everything from piano pieces to organs, synths, drum tracks, guitar solos, and everything in between and did not want to stop. This is by far the best sounding piano i have ever came across. It was even stopping guests at the music store. Hours and hours of inspiration at your fingertips.

I found all these features that are required for a Synth in none other than KRONOS for the price $2999. No other boards in this price tag can offer what a KRONOS can. So you now know why I love KRONOS and hate MOTIF. MOTIF is an out-dated concept, a synth of 1980's with no much technical advancements like touch screen etc. It has just tones, ribbon controller and a TINY screen. I'm futuristic and I will promote the boards of TOMORROW and the KING is KORG KRONOS. I love you, Kronos.. SO MUCH..!!

So overall, What makes Synthesizer a Synthesizer is its tones, capacity, expandability, ease of use, portability, compatibility, speed, connectivity, accuracy, on board controls, polyphony, no:of synth engines, music automation, multi-tasking, design, architecture, latest in technology, futuristic, tones that signifies it's identity(synth, analogue synth tones, pads etc apart from vintage tones), complex arpeggios(like KARMA), key quality, hardware quality, efficient OS, user-friendly etc.

@DIGITALSCREAMS I don't see why not, although to learn, it'd be REALLY overkill spec wise. And for the retail price of them, you could buy a real relatively decent upright piano to learn on. Another alternative if you really want a synth though, is to get a Korg Triton Extreme, or M3. They've come down in price a lot and offer many similar sounds to the Kronos.

@DIGITALSCREAMS Korg Kronos is more than a Musical Instrument, it is actually a Music Machine.., Music Monster unlike Motif, it comes with very automated systems and futuristic architecture and design, where as Motif still comes with 1980 concept, and give importance to only tones. In that way Motif is an Instrument like a guitar that simply produce sound, but from a Synthesizer and workstation what we expect is automated systems rather then just tones.

I bought a Kronos 2 3 weeks ago. It's an amazing instrument. However, I quickly found there isn't ram to load optional libraries. So unfortunate that this is have not improved since 1995 with much old Kurzweil not having enough ram to load a meaningful working set. I like Yamaha Montage because there's room to load up to 8 libraries and you dont have to unload the presets.

interesting how the Kronos UI doesn't have region settings (or does it?), as this guy from Nihon/Japan is looking at and using a standard English UI. Is English the international language for the synth world just like it is for the aviation world?

@jerryKJose Kronos takes the lead in music automation and futuristic music architecture that defines the future of music and synthesizers unlike the 1980 concept in other synths like Motif.. When we go through history, we could find most of the synthesizer innovations and inventions were made by Korg. I believe Kronos will change MUSIC WORLD UPSIDE DOWN..Kronos is not only the best keyboard, but also the most VALUE FOR MONEY keyboard.

Most of the artists think that a Synthesizer is to simulate another instrument like a guitar, or to use with a DAW. Futuristic synthesizer are far beyond this concept. It comes with LIVE sound shaping controls, effects, Instruments other than the conventional guitar, harp etc. A synthesizer has its own signature unlike other instruments. Admit that. It is not just to play the tones of other instruments. It is something that has to be experimented upon.

The only thing that worries me about investing in this, is the fact Korg seems to drop their other boards too soon and too often. Oasys and M3 are pretty much out the door and unheard of now, and they really weren't on the market for that long. Don't get me wrong, I love Korg, but it's worrying to me. Great sounding board though.

@cyrusworldmusic DAWs can be used on stage also.. But for LIVE synthesizer performances, using DAW for tones is not a good practice. Because it doesn't manifest the quality and performance of the board you are gigging with..

Daw is use on stage since Live Ableton (very cool) +surface control (real time) Organ: for drawbar and Sound from Native B4 (inside Muse receptor) Piano from plugin (Ivory) for modern drum you can use Arturia Spark or Maschine NI So and so...you are the best sound on stage Best sound than roland or Yamaha or Korg, and equivalente real time performance/price

An ideal Synthesizer will let you enhance your creativity rather than playing mere tones. I vote for KRONOS because of these reasons. Even though it has a rich PIANO which is 9-10 times far better than that of in a MOTIF XF. Even Kronos allows the PIANO tone to be tweaked like lifting the piano lid, hammer sounds, mechanical noise etc, where a MOTIF piano fails in these parameters. Then how does MOTIF piano become better than KRONOS..? If you need just tones then go for VSTs rather than wasting

mientras tengo buenos pianos acústicos y buenos simuladores de organo hammond, para mi aguanta el resto samples del internet o samples hechos por uno mismo, lo que me importa a mi es que tenga muchas opciones para tocar en vivo, y los korg siempre tienen. el sonido con el sonido que quisiera realmente tendria organos y pianos de los nord, cuerdas y orquestas de kurzweil y roland, synths y pads de korg y roland, y la maniobrabilidad de cualquier korg...

@IAmTheAbsoluteBest Certainly. Korg introduced the technology 'Transpose' of scales first in synthesizer. Now all other brands use this technology. Secondly, Korg introduced 'Touch Screen' for the first time in Synthesizer in their Triton Studio. So in brief, all the innovations were made by Korg and today Korg is being made innovations in Synthesizer industry. The best example is Kronos after M3. Yamaha brought nothing in Synthesizer industry, no innovations, OUT OF THE BOX products.

@IAmTheAbsoluteBest I agree to you completely.. Motif SUCKS..!! They don't know yet what a synthesizer should be., They just make tones and work on it to simulate to the real instrument. But they(Yamaha) forgot the fact that a synthesizer is not just meant for playback tones of other instrument rather it should be a MUSIC MACHINE, that reduces human effort. When we go through history you can see most of the innovations in synthesizer were made by Korg.

I'd suggest trying Roland RD-700Nx (cheaper, better piano but less variety), Yamaha Motif XS 88, Clavia Nord Stage 2 (brilliant piano/rhodes/wurlitzer/organ models, very good keyboard and usable synth sounds as well) etc... and definitely not buy anything based on a youtube review, try many alternatives out and see, which does the magic for you. Or was this a troll? Hard to tell, sorry.

Don't give less importance to a touch screen. It is as much as important when it comes to LIVE performance. A Synthesizer is not just for tones, but all these enhancements are very relevant since a synthesizer is a digital instrument rather than a guitar/drums. It has to be updated with latest in technology, ease of use, highly sophisticated features. Failing to do these things and clinging on to just tones and 1980's concepts is meaningless and for a serious artist it is waste of investment.

Piano acoustic sound is good but not better than plugin sound like Eastwest piano, etc... i'm disapointed from the manufactory of all keyboard /workstation the strings is very very bad! Guys, please lesson plugin like Arturia for Analog Modelisation vintage sounds and lesson string from Eastwest Hollywood or Lass scoring etc. put on Muse Receptor for the show thats all... (DSP+ COMPUTER+ plugin = same price for better result , it's true.
