Well under a metre long, but full of KORG-fuelled soul, the Microstation is a deep well of sonic possibilities. Arguably more than it's bigger brothers.

Great kit. I got used to the small keys fast. So many quality sounds and features. More than I could ever use or customize. I play mostly guitar and bass and program drums. I bought this for some additional sound without having to load up a VSTi.

A great compact workstation from a time when Korg was at the top of their game - with a focus on both quality sounds and useful well thought out functionality.

I love this thing, I think it's super cool that it does so much, yet looks like a toy. It's like a laptop synthesizer - the keys may be mini, but you get 61 of them, which is enough to play properly with two hands.

Great piece of kit. Love mine. A friend had one and then bought a second one, used them for live concerts. Don't forget, via MIDI it can be used with a controller with upto 88 full size keys 😁 Those sounds too 👍😀. A keeper to be sure.

This one is perfect for use as a tiny bread and butter sound machine you can take everywhere. Got this for about two hundred bucks requiring some easy repair. One of the most powerful small-sized synthesizer workstations, I guess. I personally like the key action and realtime controllers. M3 sounds also make a great overall impression. Great combis, one of my favs is 'Uprising' which sounds practically the same as the original MUSE track :) I'm not fond of editing sounds with my PC and the microSTATION display is too small and uninformative for menu diving, so I use only presets with some knob tweaking. Also there are quite a few user patches available for free on the net which make this synth sound unexpectedly weird in some good way. Thanks for another nice review, Glynn \m/

Since we're talking about selling . . . some sellers have created confusion by claiming inaccurate (_always_ higher) storage card capacity for the microSTATION. Here are the details directly from KORG: Capacity recognized: FAT16: 2 Gigabytes (GB) MS‐DOS format FAT16 or FAT32 are supported. SDHC memory cards are supported.

Sort of. It's all done online, there's no actual shop. I buy, review, sell, then repeat the process :)

It’s the tiny keys that keeps it from being full stop legit. Otherwise it’s pretty rad.

Made many a tune on this thing. Its one of my all time favorites and even though I've upgraded and havent used it in ages, I'll never part with it. The only thing I didnt like was the occasional crash.

Where can one find more of the synth art that is part of this video? Hopefully a better alternative than "print screen" for this one. Thank you and thanks in advance!

Didn't know these were available in blue -- or is it just a trick of the light? Mine is basic black . . . and no, it's not for sale. 😉

Nice review Glynn. Yet another interesting find for you and for us. A standard midi controller with the larger keys would be a good addition with this. Does it have an arpeggiator and does it have a bpm counter too? I could go on the hunt for one of these, as I was just about to pull the trigger on a trinity rack. Thanks Glynn

Glad you enjoyed it, and yes I agree - it's just crying out to be controlled externally. The keys seem like they are just a 'testing ground' for the sounds. It does indeed have a very lavish arpeggiator but I never say a BPM counter. It might have one, but I didn't see it.

Nah it’s more so if the m3 tbh. That’s EDS and not HI. A slick improvement, as we heard from the piano patches. Triton would never have them good of pianos. 😂😂😂.

I'm not sure if it's the same as triton, it came at least 10 years later. Similar kinds of sounds, though.

In my area this thing is RARE as - I have not seen it on second hand market since... well, never. Kinda strange, almost experimental (or just mental) excercise on Korg's marketing department part: small keyboard, yet still 61 of them keys, so (almost) twice the microKorg space on the desk, therefore it needs a keyboard rack ...but then it has features of full size synth (i.e: dual polyphonic arp!, 120 polyphony), so why small keys if it takes more space than MS2000? I like the sound engine, but then again I've liked most of Korgs, so I'm defiitely biased 😄

I agree, there are so many questions left unanswered with this keyboard! Oh well, I guess it's all part of the fun :)
