Got my Monologue yesterday as my first analog synth. Great instrument, risk of losing too many hours I should be sleeping :-). These video's really inspired me to buy a small synth, so many thanks!

You truly are a synth magician. Is there such a thing? It could be a fun show. “There is no trick, ladies and gentleman, I’ll pull another oscillator out of this hat”

Haha, I'm sure it'll be a hit show... With a very niche audience!

I got it a couple days ago and ran the batteries out within 2 days with just how much im playing it and loving it. Can't wait to download your patches and seeing what I can make from them! Will there be a video on using this with the volca FM/Beats and how you might interweave the two? I'm new to the world of synthesis so this is all exciting and fresh territory for me!
@OscillatorSink7 жыл бұрын
I'm thrilled you're enjoying the Monologue! I won't be able to do a video on the Beats as I don't have mine anymore - but that's just because I swapped it for a Volca Keys - so I'll do a video with those two together (once I can prise the Keys back from the drummer in my band who has also just set off on his synth journey!). I can highly recommend picking up the PSU for the Monologue, it'll pay you back over the course of a month or so on not having to buy batteries - it eats cheap batteries at quite a rate (although with some good quality batteries you can get a good amount of time out of it). I hope you continue to enjoy your journey!

Fantastic video! Just subscribed! I was looking for a video on how to get organ sounds out of the monologue literally like a week before you posted this, haha. I found this by chance just now and I'm super excited to start playing with these ideas. Is there any chance you would be able to do a video on how to get bell sounds (like church bell, tubular bell etc...) out of the monologue? I've found videos on how to do this with other synths that have a bit more functionality, but I've never been able to translate that into getting results I'm happy with on the monologue. If that's something you'd be interested in doing that would be awesome!
@OscillatorSink7 жыл бұрын
+Samuel Dell that's a great idea for a video, I'll add it to my list. There are few bell-like patches in the last couple of patch packs I've put in out if you want something to play about with in the meantime. Thanks for watching!

Hello. I'm having trouble installing new patches. The sound library gives me a message that the monologue is not connected. Any advice?
@rbtrbj6 жыл бұрын
Now I get a message that there's a problem with midi. Midi has always confused me! I connected my monologue with the usb cable which seemed to install the necessary drivers but I thought they might need to be updated. The drivers I see from Korg are for Windows 10 or 7/8.1. I'm running Windows 8. Will the 7/8.1driver work?
@OscillatorSink6 жыл бұрын
So if you're on Windows, this is usually because of a bug in the Sound Librarian where it won't notice the Korg driver if it's registered at a high slot in the registry. - So start by unplugging the Monologue and closing down the Sound Librarian. - If you've installed the Korg USB MIDI Driver (and if you haven't you should - that might be why it's not working), you'll have something called "Korg MIDI Driver Uninstall Utility" on your Start Menu. - If you run that, then click through until you can see the "Option Button". - Go into the "Option" and untick the setting that says "Delete Korg Midi Device Only". - Then tick all of the items that you don't currently have plugged in (don't worry, you're not deleting the drivers just unregistering the device, it'll connect automatically next time). - Click Next and let it do it's stuff - Then re-attach your Monologue Hopefully now everything should be working! Let me know how you get on.

Don't forget to try restarting once you've tried all that! There's a reason why the "turn it off and on again" cliche exists!
@rbtrbj6 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for helping. I was able to get it working with a laptop running Windows 10 and just left it at that. I discovered midi channels can be changed in the Monologue and that might get it to work in FL Studio. For now I'm recording jam session into Audacity. It's such a fun synth to experiment with!

Considering getting monologue. Do you like it?
@OscillatorSink7 жыл бұрын
+Yo! I certainly do! I think it's a surprisingly deep instrument for something that appears pretty simple. I'd suggest also checking out the Arturia Micro/Mini Brute and Novation Bass Station 2 in this price range. They both have multi-mode filters which opens up some interesting tonal possibilities, but the sequencer on the Monologue can't be touched (check out my "Hacking The Sequencer" video to see some examples of the cool stuff you can do there).
@YoYoYo7 жыл бұрын
I don't dig the sound of the Brute and Bass Station. Monologue sounds harsh and that is what I like. I'm tired of soft sounding synths. I will probably getting one. Thank you for taking the time to answer me. Keep up with the nice videos. Cheers.

@cresshead6 жыл бұрын
call me stupid by all means but why would i want to make an organ patch for an analogue mono synth? it's mono...it's a synth!
@OscillatorSink6 жыл бұрын
Why not? It's an interesting challenge? It shows some sound design principles and features of the synth that are reusable? It's a cheap synth that a lot of beginners have and they might not have any other Keyboards? There are some potential answers! But it's all subjective, if it's not useful to you it's not useful, no offence taken on my part.
