Korg Monologue analog synth only. Track available on the 'One Synth' album here: tomorrowthecure.bandcamp.com/...
It consists of four parts/sounds, all of which are manually adjusted/tweaked whilst playing/recording. It's difficult to discern at first, but from 1:10 a more resonant, drone-like sound is introduced behind the melody, and occasionally follows it (see nighttime footage).
Recorded into the Reaper DAW, with an old Lexicon reverb plugin. No post production, EQ, dynamics processing, noise removal, etc. Just pure Monologue and a bit of reverb.
New album available here: tomorrowthecure.bandcamp.com/...
Monologue with Volca Keys Mellow Live Jam: • Korg Monologue & Volca...

This means so much to me. As others have said, simplicity always wins. I have a monologue now, cannot afford all the jazz that go with it. Well...I have two guitar pedals. Vibrato and tape echo. You have given me some good inspiration to get cracking. Oohh...bonus....I have Reaper too!!! Brilliant DAW if you are prepared to study the manual. Which is 2" thick A4 double sided. I had mine printed out. Thank you so much

That opening sound . . . WOW. I am fairly new to synthesis and (extravagantly) have a Prophet Rev2 at my disposal but can’t come up with anything so beautiful and evocative. Any tips for how to construct a sound like that?
@DreamsOfWires
@DreamsOfWires 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I've not used a Rev2 (although I'd like to get one), so I don't know, but every synth has it's own unique sweet spots, becasue their oscillators and filters sound and behave so differently. I'd say it's best to just keep experimenting, with all the different parts of the sound architecture.
@edrosa3485
@edrosa3485 5 жыл бұрын
Being someone new like you, I'd like to share some thoughts... First you went off the deep end with that synth. :D Find a used smaller simpler synth. I have a Korg MS20 Mini, Korg Minilogue, Korg Monologue and a Behringer Model D. The Monologue is my newest and most recent purchase and yet I've learned more about crafting sounds from it's simpler interface. I begin by turning the mix for the 2nd oscillator down to zero then I craft the first oscillator's sound. Once I'm fairly happy with it I slightly mix the 2nd and craft that. With the 2nd oscillator I usually end up crafting that tone along with the envelope and other tone shaping controls. Several times I've ended up with sounds I really like but (as of yet) nothing close to what I had in mind. Reverb has some excellent videos on intro to synthesis.

LinkToLight01 I mess around with guitar and NEVER intended to play anything with keys. Anything. Always disliked the piano. But as I got older, I fell in love with synths and the odd "noises" that could be produced by them. I never, ever played anything with keys. And I bought the Monologue a week ago as my first synth. And it's so easy to use. You'll get the hang of it and ready to make music in less than a month, if not a week. Get one.

it's funny but the monologue is the only korg synth that interests me at the moment. It has a good, slightly rough sound. Your track proves that imho. Think it will also be interesting to feed digital sources through the signal path. The polylogue seems to be a bit overpriced.
@DreamsOfWires
@DreamsOfWires 6 жыл бұрын
It's subjective of course, but I find it can make some pleasingly delicate sounds too, especially because both VCO's have variable waveforms, which can be modulated by the LFO.
