I love the sounds and the richness of the Korg PA5X as the Yamaha is cut a little short for quality. I also think that the Speakers have a huge difference if you really listen. I bought from Technologic a set of Speakers with adjustable base and treble and volume for $100.00 same as the speakers for Yamaha. Why pay more right. LOL I also think it boils down to preference in what you like to hear. More Mello tones are easier on the ears.
@chrissanchez14382 жыл бұрын
First off thank you for the video comparison. I honestly feel that both of these are magnificent instruments. Being honest, I believe sound preference is so subjective, and even that with many people has been shown to be very fallible in blind sound tests. Perhaps looking at the features of each keyboard, and seeing what better suites the needs of each individual as a player would help define a better choice. In all honestly from a sound perspective, if I couldn't make decent music with either of these, the problem is me as a player. One thing that is a huge deal to me is the difference in price and honestly for me this would likely be the deciding factor. $1000 less for the the Pa5x is huge and I am honestly surprised Yamaha hasn't lowered its price to counter. This type of price difference really makes the decision for me.

I think all the voices and sounds are nearly the same quality. It depends on what you prefer. If you prefer pure workstation with lots of editing and more effects, I think PA 5x wins for this, especially with the first 88-key arranger that supports aftertouch and ribbon controller. If you just enjoy the sound-only, just pick Genos (or CVP 809 if you want the 88-key version).
@billhenley2332 Жыл бұрын
The Yamaha has impressive samples without doubt however, when it comes to the depth at which you are able to modify styles, sounds and effects, the Korg (PA4x in my case) is a professional instrument with limitless possibilities. I will not be purchasing a PA5x as I decided to purchase a Kurzweil K2700 for use as a PA4x Master Keyboard and MIDI Controller. In order to have complete control of every PA4x parameter to be controlled remotely, I'm utilizing a Novation Launohpad X with it's custom mode for PC Changes to the PA4x. This will allow me the use of the incredible sound library of the K2700 as well as the vast array of VST2/3 Plugins I use via Ableton Live 11 Suite. The only instrument family which is somewhat lacking in my opinion on both the Yamaha and Korg are the Guitars, Acoustic and Electric. For this reason I employ vir2's Electri6ity, Acousti6 as well as MusicLabs Real Guitars and drive them in real-time via the Korg PA4x Guitar Mode in the styles section. When the need arises and no suitable rhythm guitar is achievable I defer to MIDI Instruments like NI Electric Sunburst, Vintage Electric or Strum Acoustics with their real time chord decoding. For passages needing realistic guitars w/o the need of Korg's Guitar Mode, Vir2's Electri6ity offers realism beyond belief. I've recently moved platforms to the new MacBook M1 Max w/32 gbyte of memory and 11.2 Ventura OS. This new Apple SoC (System on a Chip) is so powerful and latency free that even 100 armed midi instrument channels add no noticeable latency , clipping or any unwanted artifact. Before investing in a new GENOS or PA5x I strongly recommend looking at some of these options as it gives you flexibility beyond belief.

88 keys is fine if you play the piano, if you play hammond or accordion or violin or whatever you die with a weighted keyboard ...
@simonbrown3169 Жыл бұрын
I am lucky enough to be able to have both of these instruments. One big difference is the keyboards used. Korg have used a semi weighted keyboard that might not suit every one. Yamaha's keyboard is considerably lighter and for the more senior player this can make a big difference regarding fatigue of the fingers. One big difference I found is in the Organ Simulator, where both instruments offer actual drawbars, percussion and leslie rotor simulations. My Pa4x wasn't very good at all regarding this area, and the Pa5x has seriously stepped it up to a better quality Hammond organ simulation. But in my opinion, the Genos blows away the korg big time here. Pa5x now offers a far wider selection of high quality Piano simulations, like Austrian Grand, Japanease Grand, Italian Grand, German Grand and many more. Yamahas Genos so offer many, but the main one remains their CFX Concert Grand. And as of 2023, I know Yamaha have created a better sample of this CFX Concert Grand which is included in their latest CSP Piano Range, Plus Yamaha have their Bösendorfer sampled Paino which isn't included in the Genos. I would also point out the obvious, in that the Genos is several years old now, being compared to the brand new Korg Pa5x released end of 2022. Consider what Yamaha is going to release in response to the Pa5x, maybe later this 2023. I look forward to a comparison of a new Genos, to the Pa5x in the near future.

Hello dear musical colleagues. The truth is that there is a lack of respect in terms of this comparison. 1- they never say what structure each keyboard has since yamahas gives that plastic structure and keys so basic that for its price it makes me embarrassed. 2 - record over the phone ..... what a lack of professionalism .... and at least I would have to compare with the 72-note korg since it is not the same sensation to play due to its semi-heavy keys and visuals because that also draws attention to large keyboards. 3 - this person advertises yamaha is obvious from the signs behind, there is nothing balanced in the demonstration ... I had the great opportunity to play korg and yamaha each one has their own. A discerning keyboard player would buy both keyboards since together it is an excellent keyboard. In my particular I have both brands and I like them a lot. I hope one day I get to see a real comparison. Nice comparison demo. I am generally partial to YAMAHA (I have a CSP-170), but even recognizing this bias, I would say that the Genos edges out the Korg. To me, perhaps skewed by my bias, Genos sounds more open, clear, upfront, and a bit more realistic, while the Korg seems to be playing in an echo chamber -- a bit muffled. But hard to get a real sense from a KZbin video. Amortized over 5 to 10 years, the price difference is probably negligible. More important than this 😉price gap is how well the instrument integrates with the player -- touch, response, resonance, etc -- which values can only be assessed by personally auditioning the instruments; however; your demo gives a pretty good hint at which direction I would lean. Another consideration: if the target piano is, say, the CVP-809, Genos as an intermediate or portable solution, makes sense -- create at home and take creation on the road ... or create on a Genos until ready to accept the CVP. By the way, I still enjoy replaying your performances on Britain's Got Talent from several years ago! Are you now married to the girl to which you sold an organ?😄😉

I think Korg does better. To each his own.

I don’t care what anyone says but Yamaha sounds Always been and always be the best sounds of any Keyboard and Especially compared with Korg Pa5x don’t get me wrong PA5X is Amazing Keyboard but it still can’t be compared with Yamaha Genos that’s my personal opinion and if you pay attention closely to the sounds Yamaha still blows Korg out of water the sounds on Yamaha Genos is so realistic and natural compare with PA5X

I listened your vidéo, and clearly, I think that this time, Yamaha is iuperioR to Korg.
