Please explain the differences between FR8X and Fisa regarding bellows, bellows effects, bellows handling and anything else you find helpful. Por favor, explique as diferenças entre FR8X e Fisa com relação ao fole, efeitos do fole, manuseio do fole e o que mais considerar útil.

If you are the accordion player for a Chicago Push Polka Band, stick with your acoustic accordion. The Korg and Roland accordions will wear out your left arm if Bellows Shake is your only job in the band.
@kentaccordionist4 күн бұрын
@@dalematthies I’m sure I read somewhere the FISA has a special setting to make it easier to do a bellows shake, which by the way I never managed to master even on an acoustic accordion.

Thanks for the explanation Dale - I think one of the major differences is that the Roland is a much nicer looking unit then the Korg especially the Dallape model but this comes down to a personal choice as everyone’s view is different

I am guessing that the guy in Europe who makes the arty replacement grills for the Roland will also begin to create some for the Korg.

One of the features that I would like on the Korg or the 8x are the small straps that hold the bellows closed after playing, like I have on my acoustic accordion. This helps me when I put my accordion away in the case after playing.
@dalematthies3 күн бұрын
Yes, a few people have done that. My opinion is that a tech should do it with the case open so no screws are inadvertantly placed in a dangerous location.

The reason that I purchased the Korg Fisa was because of their incredible realistic strings ... far and above Roland's strings.

Yes, the Korg strings are great, very usable.

Excellent demonstration, thanks. The two are amazing; do they have options for playing quarter tones?
@dalematthies4 күн бұрын
Please download the Korg owner manual from the home page of my web site. I think the Korg may be able to do quarter tones. www.dalemathisaccordion.com

Hi Dale - I was wondering what is the power of onboard output. I believe the 8x has 25 watt out, what is the Korg? Also, how does the amount of memory compare?
@dalematthies4 күн бұрын
I believe the power output is double of the Roland 8x, but check the Korg owner manual. You can find it on the home page of my web site. www.dalemathisaccordion.com

I’m sticking with Roland. The Korg doesn’t have enough redeeming features to make it worth the extra money.

My 8x will continue to be the instrument I use for gigs.

@ I’m not saying that the Korg isn’t good, it’s got some nice features, I just think my 4X does things in a more logical way. The scenes on the Korg make absolutely no sense, having user programs assigned to the couplers is a whole lot easier. Although I do wish the 4X had 1 bank of 14 couplers instead of 2 banks of 7, but it’s early days for me programing the 4X and I’m sure with careful planning I can get round having to use the a/b switch mid song to select sounds on the opposite bank. But the scenes on the Korg would drive me to distraction, as for some tunes I change sounds multiple times, and 6 scenes would not be enough. As for the wrist coupler I have had acoustic accordions with wrist couplers and I found it far too easy to change the sound by accident when playing. Anyway GREAT INFORMATIVE VIDEO. WELL DONE MY FRIEND.

@@kentaccordionist I agree that the 4x is easier to use.

All interesting stuff. I wonder how many musicians like myself, despite the myriad possibilities of such instruments, end up using just one or two sounds 🤣 I currently own a FR-3xb, and use it as an accordion, I barely use orchestral sounds. I would buy a smaller Korg if it came out, not because it would be "better" than the Roland, but because I want to encourage makers in keeping the development of digital accordions.
@dalematthies4 күн бұрын
The "Compact" Korg model is similar in size to your Roland 3xb. It may be available later in 2025. It has similar features to the full-size FISA model, but no palm bar.
@fouellet17014 күн бұрын
@@dalematthies Looking forward to see it! I am trying to limit the weight so a smaller box is a good option.
@dalematthies4 күн бұрын
@@fouellet1701 You may have an issue with the Korg C. It is heavier than the Roland 3x by about 3 pounds.

Good video Dale. I think the Focus still is it’s an Accordion Not a Theater Organ. The Accordion sounds with the optional band using the left hand is the desired sound in my opinion. The Organs are nice but the synth sounds and other instruments are a little much for me. Thanks for sharing.
@dalematthies4 күн бұрын
This instrument can be different things to different users. Some will use it as a MIDI controller for a rack of modules to program symphonic music, some will use it as a strolling accordion in a restaurant, some will use it to play the great Hammond organ sounds from the days when they used to haul around a 400 pound B-3 in their 60s rock band.
@markmccoy13044 күн бұрын
Agreed. Both the Roland and The Korg are great investments. After listening to your videos I think the Roland is the better choice. 😅

Yes, the accordion companies are now allowing direct purchase and bypassing the dealers. So, the dealers need incentives for folks to purchase from them and not the manufacturer.
