Excellent. Just not enough of these type of videos. I've been doing this for 30 years and I'm always looking for alternate ways to connect all the different types of devices. Integrating old MIDI devices, CV, USB, etc can be maddening. 😫. Not that this video is an earth shattering revelation, but the "How To" on connecting devices is mostly not explained; it's assumed to be known. Which is why when my friends and I used to go to shows, we would get up near the gear to see A) What are they using and B) How are they connecting all this in sync ? If enough is visually revealed, we can figure it out and rely on past experiences to include the kitchen appliances if needed. MIDI to MIDI or CV to CV is one thing, but the advent of USB integration and devices like the Volcas, albeit straight forward, makes me wonder how all this is going to communicate and stay in time.

Do you really have to connect all devices to a split and then towards your speakers? Or does only the last in line go towards your external audio setup?

I read somewhere i could be bad to use Headphone splitters the opposite way - but if it is just wired normally i dont see how that possibly could cause any damage

Are all these cables just stereo jacks? Or mono?

Video for beginners on how to setup multiple Korg Volca devices

Hi, ive been having problems with the volca series and I wonder if you could help me. For instance the volca beats has a latency that makes imposible to play with a guitar and aloop station, so i quit that idea. the second problem i have is that recently I received the volca bass and the volca fm as a present, but when I turn the cuttoff knob of the volca bass, it affects the sync of all the chain. Ive been using stero miniplugs to sync them all, but eventually, the sync falls apart and gets messy. Thanks in advance. :)

hi, why if connected like this i have a sync problem? only with mixer i can fix it..
@gobbygubbinz5 жыл бұрын
Your going to need a mixer.....as my mate told me 10 times in one afternoon as we played with the volca sample and beats this weekend....
@Noisybatt5 жыл бұрын
If you intend to eq, mix and record your jam session, I would also recommend a proper mixer as well.

So each box out is connected to the speaker? Since they were all connected why wouldn’t just one output work?
@Noisybatt5 жыл бұрын
On a typical Volca, one wire is for sync and the other is for audio. The Volcas were connected to each other for the sake of sync (timing). There is no audio in the sync connection.

How do you hook the outputs to the Volca mixer?

hello, what mixer is it?
@multinik43666 жыл бұрын
please don't use audio splitters. quoting from 'volcafaq(dot)com': "They generally don't incorporate any resistors so you are literally connecting the outputs of every Volca together. Each output tries to drive the very low impedance of the other, forcing both outputs into current-limit and possible damage."

What's the other option instead of the audio splitter?
@multinik43666 жыл бұрын
Just grab a cheap mixer. I got a Behringer Xenyx 802 for 30€ on ebay - gives you EQ, Effect Sends and other features as well.
@taronygren55506 жыл бұрын
Hey, read that too but don't really get what kind of damage it can cause?
@OutworldStudios5 жыл бұрын
The proper way to do it is hook it up to a mixer that is going to a PA.

what would be the best way to connect the electribe 2 (blue), korg kp2 and volca bass?
@Noisybatt4 жыл бұрын
Electribe into Volca Bass via MIDI. Volca Bass into Electribe via audio input. Electribe into KP2 via audio input. KP2 to mixer or powered speakers. I don't like using MIDI with the KP3. I haven't tried this so it's hypothetical.

WTF you didnt manage to sync them
@Noisybatt4 жыл бұрын
When I increased the tempo, all the devices sped up to demonstrate they were in sync.
@ntz4104 жыл бұрын
sync does not mean same start :) to start them all the same you could plug in another aux to the sync in of the master, they all stop playing now. if you press play on all and disconnect the sync in on the master sync device they will all start playing at the same moment and are synced in bpm aswell.

@@ntz410exactly what I wondering, thanks for the simple explanation.
