FM sounds are the best for ambient. they have a very distinctly other worldly quality to them. I'm pretty sure all of selected ambient works vol 2 was FM stuff.

fm synthesis but more imporantly microtuning i.e. microtonal scales. this gives the SAWII the whole magical but strange, outworldly character.

Chrząszczyświerszcz Chrabąszczyżowąski No you have to give credit to Korg. What they have delivered for the money and size is nothing short of a miracle. And the inclusion of chorus and unison mode means this can sound like both the MK1 AND MK2 DX7s and thats incredible. I already got some sounds out of mine I couldnt get on the DX7. I programmed an Electro tom patch and rock guitar like sound that just blew me away recently. I will feature them in an upcoming demo called the TIME TRAVELLER soon.

I'm sure it def helps but this thing is probably one of their best builds in the Volca series to date. Honestly, in my opinion, Volca's are meant to be run through FX predals. I run my Nubass through a Swollen Pickle and a TC Harmonics Prophet; sounds beefy and super trippy. You seriously can go on journeys with these little wonders and some tasteful effects.

Like all FM synths, it will sound great with a GOOD reverb, but pretty horrible dry. I think the Eventide is ding a fantastic job here, but this sounds amazing. Think I'll have to just but both1 This is by far the best "demo" I have seen for the Volca FM. Stunning. Autechre AUTECHRE!
