Best demo for Volca Sample! So awesome! Did you use default samples?
@wighatsuperreggie6 ай бұрын
Hey! "start point" just starts the sample at the same place in the sequence but changes what part of the sample it starts from right? Is there a way to actually shift where to start the sample in the sequence, so you can get that sweet Dilla laid back feel on a particular sound, like just the snare in relation to everything else?
@evhvariac29 жыл бұрын
Well done! So that last sequence starting at about 9:00. Is that done completely on the Volca Sampler? If so that is very cool

Don't understand why KORG would make a product where you have to have another product in this case Apple, in order for you to use all the functions. Not everyone have an iPod, iPhone or iPad. Guess I won't be adding this to the other Volca range.. Such a shame!

My friend pointed out the possibility of going to shows with your phone and replacing the performer's samples on them mid-set with the app.
@EMAHGERD9 жыл бұрын
Jakob Rehlinger Thats what I was thinking too, but there should be multi-platform support like windows,osx, x86/64 and arm linux (android) etc! but hey Korg is not the kind of company that keeps shit like this for them, I'm expecting at least some sort of sdk with an example or class, other hope is hobby devs..

I have a dumb question and I don't know where else to ask. Does this have a built in speaker or do I need to output the sound to an amp or something? What about the other Volca things??

I'm having difficulties finding how long each sample can be. Can you only load 4mb across the board at any given time? How much memory does it have overall for 100 samples? Thanks.
@seanhornibrook9 жыл бұрын
From what I have heard, there is no limit to sample length, however the 4mb is set for the whole 100 samples, so if you had one HUGE sample of like 3.75mb, you would only have .25mb left for the other 99... I have the Keys and Bass and love them, just ordered the Beats and Sample. (super excited!!!)

How many different sample sounds can you play together at the same time, like on the same step? I suppose that is the equivalent to polyphony. i.e. How many sounds at once for a single note?
@HotelEdenMusic8 ай бұрын
I often play quite a few sounds at once, probably 4-8, and never really hear it drop notes or "voice steal" sadly unlike a number of more recent grooveboxes. I own the new KO-33 II and a variety of other machines and still go back to the trusty little Volca when I want to get spontaneous and fun.

Would it be possible to sequence user samples, that is, singing or playing something? If not, which tool is more useful for that?
@jonasbarka3 жыл бұрын
Yes, but the memory is limited so it's best to keep it short. The new Sample 2 got double memory and easier transfer from computer.

As much as I like these volca doodads, I will probably never touch them, because I'm not keen on being locked in to some game of Apple horse hockey to have a goddamn editor. Been there, done that (with Windows-only editor lock-ins) .. if a piece of hardware is not standalone or OS-agnostic, I'm usually not interested. Seriously devs.. I'd rather deal with Java-based editors than be locked in to a single platform, chosen by some asshole in a marketing department.

As I hope you know by now - Korg released the SDK some time ago. There are now Android/PC/Web based systems for uploading the samples. Also the other three Volcas obviously don't need any external app at all.

why does anybody care about a 16 step sequencer in 2015? are we living in the 60s? how about a 24, 88 or whatever steps I want in a memory patch? no need for more knobs, just a good interface. How about a product that plays midi files from SD or USB cards and sends them via CV or Midi-out to a hardware synth? wouldn't that be amazing?
@aikighost9 жыл бұрын
+German Salazar Its $100 bit of kit that is INCREDIBLY fun to jam out on. If you want to use it in a studio setup then just control it via midi form your DAW.

+German Salazar But you have what you're asking, not to mention sofware based sequencers and whatever. I find limitations estimulating. I'm sick of plugins and pointless crap. I want to jam, play, experiment and enjoy. I welcome instruments like these. So, to answer your question: people like me care about this in 2016.
@zaiten20128 жыл бұрын
+MaghoxFr I get your point, but just imagine if hardware synths were still coming out monophonic because "limitations". I love a mono moog, but also a 28 voice Radias. Then again, I think I'm wrong about this device XD my bad, I hadn't noticed that it features "PARTS" which is essentially what I needed, 10 parts with 16 steps each.

It's easier and more profitable to make an app for apple than android so it's obviously not useless since apple users make up a large market and this is cheap.
@aldude9999 жыл бұрын
TVstudio More profitable, maybe, but easier? No.
@TVstudio9 жыл бұрын
So you're saying it's easier to make an app for android? How so?
@aldude9999 жыл бұрын
TVstudio Android uses java, it's not a crazy hard language to learn and a lot of people already know the basics. Apple Iphone uses "Objective C" It's virtually the only OS that actually uses it. You have to learn an entirely different language to program in it. Not to mention, you have to learn it, and hope that your app gets approved. With android, you can load any app from any place and anyone can upload apps to the google store, making the investment, if you decided to learn more worth it.
