Wow this sounds really cool.....amazing. Proper stuff! This could easliy be a professional track...well done. I don't get something - am I right in assuming the Volca samples only let you do 10 patterns in total? It seems so small. Am I reading something wrong here......if so why would Korg limit this so much.......

This sounds awesome ! I have some questions (I hope they're not too stupid !) : - does this thing has a "song mode" ? I would like to use it as my main drum machine for a solo project where I'd play bass, so I'd like to program patterns and arrange them in a song strucutre (intro-verse-chorus, etc) - is there a limit of how many samples you can use at once ? - since there's pitch modulation, can you also program basslines on this ?
@vovos00
@vovos00 Жыл бұрын
There is no song mode but you can change which loop you’ll gonna play. Yes there is a limit. I remember it was about 99 or 128 samples You can place bassline by setting different pitch of the same sample on different sample slots

I bought a Volca Keys because I had always wanted to play with an analogue synth (and I already had a MIDI controller keyboard to use with it). But then I saw the Volca Sample and thought of the many possibilities it offered for percussion, rhythms, sample sequences and so much more. So now I have both. The Volca FM also looks very interesting but the others have no appeal for me.

also i wish the it had some sort of cue feature so you could listen and program stuff without the crowd hearing then drop it in!
@CaseWoo
@CaseWoo 7 жыл бұрын
in an ideal live situation, the cue feature would be on a DJ mixer that you'd plug your machines into. that way, you can listen to the volca via headphones while another machine is playing back to the crowd via the other channel.

Hey! Sounds cool, I've got a similar setup, is your volca connected directly to the h5 from its audio/headphone output to a line in on the h5?
@CaseWoo

I was using the input 1 and 2. i could also have used the line-in directly at the top right side.

Great video! I noticed your Sample sounds crisper and less noisy than mine...did you apply external noise reduction/compression to get this sound, or does yours sound this good straight out of the output? Hoping mine isn't defective...

What are the Midi capabilities of the device? I would like to use this with my Beatstep Pro, but I'm worried they won't communicate properly. Best case scenario I could sequence the Sample's sounds using the Beatstep, but if the midi would take the Beatstep's clock that would work too.
@freekito
@freekito 8 жыл бұрын
You can sync using beatstep´s clock out. Volca sample use midi chanels 1-16 for each sample. So, you can use midi, but will not be able to send midi to another device. The other members of volca set work diferent, 1 chanel per device.
@pheelia
@pheelia 8 жыл бұрын
+Chandler Gray forgot to add: the volca takes the midi clock from a beatstep pro for example, thats no problem. only sequencing different parts/samples is difficult

hi , i am in 2 minds. Shall i buy this or the Korg Volca Beats ? For underground music. Thanks
@CaseWoo
@CaseWoo 7 жыл бұрын
They are both completely different machines. One is a sampler and the other is a drum machine. I don't have the Beats but I may get it one day. Underground music also doesn't mean a thing and has no relation with equipment to me too. You can use a broken violin to make "underground" music. In other words, both Sampler and Beats and every music equipment on earth, are more than capable to make "underground" music, whatever that may be. These Volcas are so affordable, most people don't buy them because they need them. I bought all of mine out of curiosity and for experimentation. Buy them used and give them a try and see if they work for your style of music. Have fun! And thanks for checking out my video.

Yes, only with iOS devices you can transfer new samples to it. They should've called it "iSample" for that matter. Also the reason i don't get this one :/ Good news is, The "Korg Electribe 2 Sampler" will come out soon...

***** No it doesn't transfer wireless. In theory anything that can output audio with a jack can send samples to the Volca sample. There are now apps for Android and Windows and iOS. No wireless, just a regular cable.

could someone confirm something for me? when you're switching from one sound to another, and you want to adjust a certain parameter, does it automatically jump to the value it was last left off or does it create a sort of pickup mode so it doesnt sound weird live?

@jamiehoffmann9109 3 жыл бұрын
Can't speak for the Sample, but on the FM it does "jump" to the exact value on the knob. So yeah, unfortunately you gotta know where it should be and turn that knob quickly. Just realised you posted this 5 years ago :))

When you're recording onto that zoom - can you still hear what you're playing or is it silent? Could you use a splitter to have one out to speakers and one to the recording device or would that dun goof the quality/make it too quiet

While the Korg is recording into the Zoom H5 via the inputs at the bottom, that cable on the left of the recorder is going to my speakers, so I'm hearing the whole thing.
