"It was written because all these little kids sing these nursery rhymes and they don't know what they originally meant. Everyone is so happy when singing 'Ring Around the Rosie' but it is about the Black Plague. All of them have these evil stories behind them." - Jonathan Davis

You took the words outta my mouth. Lol. Korn will always be a favorite. I even saw them on this tour 😊

During the black plague, it was common to keep flowers in your pocket (posies) to ward off the stench of the corpses on every corner street.

My husband and I always get the part MARY HAD A LITTLE LAMMMBBB stuck in our heads lol both me and him have gone to school there since middle school, we were just skate homies back then but it was like 2001 2002 and korn was super popular and on the radio at the time here in Sacramento and back then this song would come on and we would go ham at nick nack party whack part and whenever that frickn MARY had a little LAMMBB part would blare we used to echo it and yell it like deranged ragefilled nursery rhyme addicts lmao. Imma go ruin his day right now and text it to him so it'll yet again live rent free in his head. Lol. Thanks for the this lovely gift that keeps on giving Duane :) 💟💟💟💟💟

London bridges is about the sacrifices they made so the bridge would fall down, the bodies are now being found under the bridge

It has been a long time, but I remember Ring Around The Rosey nursery ryhme was about Native Americans catching smallpox when the settlers arrived and they had to burn the bodies...hence the ashes.

London bridges is a story about human sacrifice and that they believe it will fall with out humans being buried in the base , which is said that there are children in the structure.

Ive read that nursery rhymes and fairy tales used to be made to warn people essentially. But we've sanitized them to forget what they all about.
@Snaakie833 ай бұрын
Yep, in the real world Cinderella ended up being about incest, rape and murder. Fairy tales weren't for kids, but for young adults. They were meant to prepare for real life. Red Riding Hood is full of symbolism... The woods/trees are synonym for life, the pad she has to stay on is literally to stay on your plan. The wolf is the evil (men) that'll guide you off the path and grandma is her old day. There's loads more but I forgot most, what Disney did was erasing very old stories of their meaning.

If u think of a current artist that uses nursery rhymes in their music and uses them in dark context it brings you to Ren.... I wonder if he was influenced by Korn in anyway???

Some stuff may have been intended but most of those things people just didn't realize or intentionally mean it in a bad way.

Korn was on meth when they wrote this album which explains a lot of the dark themed craziness

The idea that these nursery rhymes are related to horrible things and events is generally false. Ring Around the Rosie has many versions, and the idea that it was associated with the Black Plague didn't occur until 1961. In the 1800s, there was a theory that it had pagan roots. "London Bridge is falling down" seems to have originally been "London Bridge is broken down" and the song may have not had even those words originally. While there are a lot of theories, nobody is really sure what it is referring to. An older version of the song had the verse: "Build it up with stone so strong..." People seem to search for dark or hidden meanings that aren't always there. A great example is all of the interpretations of Alice in Wonderland. But the reality is there was never any meaning. The story was intentionally nonsensical, using a popular form of writing called "Literary Nonsense" which became very popular in the nineteenth century. Yet people try to put meaning into those stories when there isn't any. Should mention Mary Had a Little Lamb may have been a true story of a lamb following a girl to school.

Official video is edited bagpipes are played for a good 20-30sec longer and missing a big section at the end sings ring around the rosey again and the verse before the knick knack patty whack ending while korn videos are awesome they ruin the songs I suggest just the audio versions and watch the video on your own time or do a double feature and watch videos after hearing the correct versions

And London Bridge was a very old bridge (with houses/shops and loads of people living on it) that fell down in the Thames somewhere centuries ago.

This song has always sucked and been the weakest link. This song is what attracts the true weirdos to Korn. Been this way since '95.
