The first part of this team tournament was a round robin between the players in the same bracket/team position (e.g. novices first, pros last)
00:00 - Start
01:00 - Korone vs K4sen
10:30 - Korone vs YY
19:30 - Korone vs Botan
Spoilers
Despite their team not making it past the 1st round and placing last, and despite saying goodbye and parting ways after the tournament ended, Team B decided to party up immediately afterwards to enjoy some more SF6 shenanigans together.
The true treasure really was the friends made along the way.

Some analysis in simple terms for people who don’t play fighting games: Korone demonstrates excellent understanding and control of the distance and timing of JP’s long range options, and she demonstrates that she theoretically has the knowledge and technique to fight back at close range. However, Korone’s main weakness as a player is that she’s bad at initiating offense once her opponents get close. In fighting game lingo, we would say she doesn’t take her turn and lets her opponents approach her for free. She jumps back and uses JP’s heavy kick in the air a lot, which isn’t very tactically sound. If her opponents approach her recklessly, then the heavy kick will land and will give her a combo opportunity, but otherwise she drives herself into the corner and makes her reactions more predictable. This compounds her main secondary weakness, that her corner defense isn’t very good. Korone tends to fall back on options she’s practiced heavily in the corner. While these options are effective, her over-reliance on them allows her opponents to come up with reliable counters. These weaknesses are most clearly on display in her matches against K4sen. In scrims, K4sen was far more reliant on approaching Korone with jumps, which Korone was able to counter semi-reliably. However, in tournament, K4sen took advantage of Dee Jay’s high speed to approach Korone from the ground and pile on offensive pressure. This approach is technically more predictable but very difficult to react intelligently to even at high levels, and Korone wasn’t prepared for it. Her performance improved as she became more willing to initiate offense and punish K4sen for trying to take free turns, but K4sen adapted by throwing out Dee Jay’s projectiles. While these didn’t do much damage, they disrupted Korone enough to discourage her from trying to take full advantage of her long-range options, making it more difficult for her to find opportunities for effective damage. Korone played well, but K4sen came tactically prepared for her. Korone did very well in the match against YY, particularly in using her long-ranged options to disrupt YY’s approach attempts. However, she again allowed herself to be cornered too easily and faced solid counters to her corner tactics. YY also outperformed K4sen in mixing up his approach options, making it more difficult for Korone to defend properly. Korone gets grabbed at the start of most rounds because Blanka’s leaping grab has an ambiguous animation that looks like he’s jumping in for a strike, and she doesn’t realize the mistake until it’s too late. Blanka has many ambiguous options like this, and YY uses them effectively to open Korone up for big damage. Botan’s character, Marisa, excels at piling on high offensive pressure in the corner. While there are ways to counter her, Korone’s unwillingness to take her turn meant that Botan was free to just keep on attacking her. However, Botan has more difficulty driving Korone into the corner than K4sen and YY, and Korone prevails by staying out of the corner and using her long-range options to punish Botan for trying to force her way in. I admire Korone so much for accomplishing all this while playing with Classic controls on an arcade controller! Hearing those clicks and clacks really brings across how much effort she put into this.

Can we also give credit where due to the folks she went against? Korone went from forgetting to block, to taking in Nanai's training, becoming a beast and bodying. That in turn gave all her opponents a wake up rival, and made them put in the work. While my respect is still with Korone's sticking it out with classic controls on a zone heavy character, my heart still loves a personal growth story that gets everyone involved to want to grow the same. Incredible journey. I really hope this is just the first chapter of many.

A beast?... I mean yeah, going from zero to this is certainly something to respect, but since KAZUNOKO was her coach... I expected more. Not against blanka because that character is fucking cancer if you do not know its frame data, but from the rest... Yeeeeeeee. She is still not even close to learning basic fundamentals, Neutral, anti airs, etc. I'm not even a vtuber guy, but I will follow her a bit to see if she tries to improve past this.

So proud of her. My favorite part of the stream besies cheering the poor doggo up. Was her truly Witnessing the magic of fighting games with the set of fights between Daigo and Fudo. Swept daigo for 3 games with his unstoppable Dehlsam then The beast goes in and completely reverses it after being left with like 5 percent health. What a comeback and korone watched it all. It was like watching a match in evo.

Even seeing Botan's improvement was really impressive but it was so good rooting for best doggo. Such fluid gameplay keeps you on the edge. You can see Korone work herself nervous, she chats to her team and calms down but then the pressure of the deciding round mounts up on her. She can talk about taking fingers all day but she's still mega cute at the end of it all!

That first match had me on the edge and that first match vs Blanka in the first game was phenomenal, impeccable play. Looking her playing like that somehow makes you feel so...proud? Like a combination of happiness and proud, it's amazing and awesome. Also that match against Botan was so epic lol Watching both of my fav girls battling it's very epic. Good job doggo, I'm sad I couldn't follow all her SF arc but I will when I have time! (Also will follow Botan SF arc). 23:53 SO CUTEEEEE!!! 🥹

She held on so well despite definitely struggling a lot with nerves. Like even not knowing much about the game I could see that she was doing the wrong inputs more and wasn't getting as many of those sick ranged combos. Yet despite that she held her own every time. Hopefully she does something like this again because you can really see her potential. Like when she got the advice about jumping forwards sooner and just destroyed Botan in the next game where she was doing a better job of her positioning(also I think most of her opponents learned to counter her by pushing her into the corner).

Dang, she did really well, despite the score. I think she definitely could've won those first 2 games off in-game skill, but it's *hard* to show your full potential in your first big event like this, and learning to play in that kind of setting is a skill of its own. Props to all her opponents too (and Botan, who I had missed was part of this; just been seeing bits and pieces about Korone)

I really like the atmosphere within her team. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. She had a great time practicing and learning new techniques. Unfortunately, she seems so excited that she doesn't play like she did during practice. Her opponent was much better than when they were practicing together. She's doing very well for her first time. But this will also be a good experience for her and make new friends.

To all the Korone fans, she is just thinking of us when holding up-back because up-back = UB = Yubi Yubi. Jokes aside, I think Korone just needs experience to calm her nerves and she'll be an amazing fighting doggo. This was an amazing event to watch. I'm a huge fan of fighting games, and it was great seeing Korone, Botan, and everyone else improve. I hope we get to see more in the near future. Thank you Crazy Raccoon for putting on this event. Korone really is great in team tournaments like these. She responds well to her coaching before and during the tournaments, and even if she loses she got her opponents to make a run for their fight money. And the win against Botan is the cherry on top even when Marisa is a bad matchup against JP.

I have to say but I think Korone's agro is much better than getting stuck on the corner, playing corner is fine but you can't be stuck there for long. Also getting nervous is really your number 1 enemy when it comes to tournaments because you're going to get choked and unable to do combo and stuffs and even if you tell yourself to calm its too hard to do it. Im glad Korone manages to pull it off and ngl Im impressed she become a really good street fighter player in just amount of short time. That's our Doggo ^^ Im proud for everyone here, its really fun and great to see everyone studied each others moves.

She got better with all the training and practice scrims. This was also her first actual tournament, even if its not a high level one its still her first. She did fairly well. Seems that the concensus against her is that she is weak against close range. She also backs herself into a corner when in a panic. So they just let her corner herself before punching in. It is a team match however and her team really helps raise her confidence at times.

Honestly she did pretty well, making sure to go to the very last point with every match even if she did lose it. I don't play SF but I'm guessing that a zoner like JP would be pretty nuanced and weird for a beginner to pick up so it's impressive that Korone was using him as well as she did. She'll definitely see a lot of improvement if she decides to keep playing

I literally cannot fathom playing at this level. Well done, Ko'one. For all the hours of SC2 I played (and DOA3, but that got nowhere, because that game has so much depth), I still don't even come close. Not with Maxi, not with Nightmare, and not with Mitsurugi. I had a few combos with each character I could pull off consistently for each character (and Maxi's ability to just always be in a combo helped a lot. That and his surprising reach), but nothing like this. Now, to find the Botan clips...

It helps that she got a good team coaching her. Fighting games are quite difficult to get the hang of if you don't do some research on the game mechanics first, unlike say, FPS where basically all you need are good reflexes

@@ZoMbi5lAy3r She's got a good team, and is a good learner, too. I had... the CPU opponents, practice mode, and move lists. I made it far enough to be mildly competent inconsistently (but because I was playing Maxi, I mostly got mocked), and to know which characters I had to worry about.

Tourney jitters are no joke. I remember the first time I attended a tournament, everything that I knew and practiced just immediately went out the freakin window and my hands shook uncontrollably. Most of the time it's because of the new experience and the habit of imagining your opponent as someone far better than you or doubting your own abilities, rather than just seeing them as another player who's probably just as nervous as you are. This can be compounded by the first match easily, because whether you win or lose can further compound or alleviate those concerns. You can how each following match, she starts forgetting core setups and techniques that she performed during practice; it's a nasty cycle. With all that being said and despite all this, Korone did a fantastic job.
