You know, one of my first exposures to Hololive (outside of the EN branch) was the famous Marine/Coco clip. That was a few years ago and Marine hasn't changed at all lol

my favorite holomem reaction HAS to be Nerissa's, she just said "oh yeah of course" and moved on LMAOO like yeah that's her Kamioshi, she wouldn't expect anything less from the horny captain she loves

I looked away for a few seconds during the stream, and Korone suddenly screamed. But I knew exactly what made her scream. 😅

One of the top skill in the game. With about 500hp you are basically immortal before 30' even when standing still.

1:15 Translating "yaba" as "oh god" is great 😂 Amazing how just one word can have so many translations depending on the context…

TBF Japanese is a _notoriously_ contextual language...
@myfaceismyshield5963
@myfaceismyshield5963 7 сағат бұрын
@@broadbandislife or rather English and Japanese often use entirely different kinds of idioms to mean the same thing. Like... why does saying "oh god" mean you're shocked, disgusted or distressed or having sex? It's literally all about context. To understand that idiom in English, you even need to know what the majority religion of most English speakers is and then additionally you need to know that saying God out loud used to be a taboo but now it's referred to ironically. Japanese isn't more contextual, it just has a different context.

@@myfaceismyshield5963 ...you do realize the Japanese have a major thing for making puns out of the unusually many different contextual meanings (and in the case of writing, readings) of various words right? In this specific case _yabe/yabai_ AFAIK literally just means "dangerous" but also has (developed?) a parallel colloquial meaning roughly equivalent to the English "risqué" (as opposed to _seiso_ "pure"); which meaning (if not both when being punny) the JPs use it in depends purely on the context. Also invocations of the divine as general exclamation and for emphasis are just about universal so kind of a bad example there, it's not like anyone besides ivory-tower theologicians and particularly stuck-up fundamentalists actually ever gave a hoot about the shared nominal Abrahamic prohibition against "taking the Lord's name in vain".

I guess they left it as "climax" for the JP version because they couldn't translate the double meaning otherwise? I'm not aware of any single Japanese word which can mean both "climax" in a lewd context (which Calli helpfully translated as "peak moment") and also "climax" in a non-lewd context (as in the climax of an action movie, an orchestral piece, or a sportsball championship game)

@@AeirEclipseHayastin well I've seen it translated into 'wait a minute' which essentially means the same thing, it's just that "hold up" is more contemporary

I remember a video game company back in the 90's being named "Climax Entertainment". They did NOT make risque games. So I don't know. It might depend on the person. There are certainly some Japanese with enough command of English to understand the possible implications.

Mhmm and many dont know or well dont wanna know korone is quite hawt as soon in that mmd/sourcefilmaker animation where its showing a lot of skin. I mean I get it even korone herself said most see her as more their obaachan's cute dog but whether its killing demons or just screaming at soap there's like a hidden appeal to it. Her badassness her ability to come back even after cutting the cords to her device and play old games or heck her just constantly wanting to punch the koronesuki in the face is hawt.
