Will be landing at Kos airport next Tuesday, our 20th trip to our favorite Greek island.

Zante is nice, Laganos has a large beach, went there in 2004. Last year we went to Tsilivi and loved it there, not a great beach as alot of sun beds. But the village is really nice esp at night. Best bar is Magdalena's was our favourite. We're not beer drinkers. The island has a nice local cider. I loved the cocktails best.

Kev, I fly BA club class reward flights, use the lounge for free, it’s getting just as cheap than buying drink and food in those airports, just flew Club class to Ljubljana, 10k Avios and £79😂

The exchange rate affects us greatly. Imagine if we were getting 2 euros to the pound. A tenner for vodka.

During the financial crisis Greece was forced to sell off their island airports to Fraport (the company that operates Frankfurt airport) to raise money. It took them a few years but Fraport have been ramping up the prices at all of their airports - covid accelerated this process. So essentially you are paying German airport prices in Greece. The shops are all operated as a franchise hence the “coordinated” pricing.

Also the prices of duty free cigarettes should be around 25% lower than the local state controlled prices however they now just price them nearly the same, I now buy before getting to the airport so at least the extra revenue goes to the Greek state and not the airport operator

When the liquid ban gets lifted the shops will suffer and I bet they lower the prices. Ridiculous prices in airports.

Really enjoyed the series - especially Kos. Looking forward to the next Greek islands. Might be going to Zante next year. I always check airport maps so I know what they have and where it is. But that’s prob my OCD
