Today's video takes you to the fringes of Western Poland, to the charming city of Koszalin. Koszalin is a very peaceful and beautiful city, one worth a visit for sure! It has much surviving historical architecture, taking you from the medieval period to the modern day and it does it beautifully!

AT LAST someone did justice to Koszalin! For some reasons that I'm unaware of, this welcoming Polish city - a former provincial capital - is not only underrated by many foreigners visiting Poland or living here, it's completely ignored on a regular basis. I've been there several times just passing by and stopping for a while, and my reflection always was, that I'd love to stay there for much longer. It's not only the nice, cozy city, it's also its beautiful, hilly forested area with lakes, and the Baltic beaches only some 15 km away. About the "sleepy" aspect, well, living in the hustle/bustle of Warsaw, from my viewpoint I'd rather call Koszalin tranquil and relaxing, but not boring.

When I was researching and seeing what there was to do I gave myself 2 nights here and I was certainly never bored, relaxing and tranquil are perfect words to describe this city 😊 glad you enjoyed the video, part 2 coming soon!

Really glad you enjoyed 😊 I’m glad I got to visit this city, everywhere in Poland can be a lovely little time capsule of the past and this city proved to be no exception to that rule 😁

@@britinpoland2392 😀, yes you have reminded my hometown very well. I will be back there for good probably in 4 years exactly for the reasons mentioned by you: sleepy town, close to sea and plenty of forest. One thing you might not know about Pomerania that ethnically it is mixed with people from Ukraine, Baltic States and also from Kresy (Lviv). I know that I might sound self-centred, but people from my region are not from Poland but from Pomerania (Pomorze) :). I remember my childhood friends being German, Ukrainian or Lithuanian or Jewish.

@@lucapacino8831 actually I didn’t know that about the different demographics there, interesting! And this really was a lovely place to visit, I think one often overlooked!

My pleasure 😊 respect to the tourist info who gave me the sightseeing map, it helped me to see more…I think the browar is open until 11…and pretty sure I remember people having some beers with kebabs after 10 but for sure the city could use a few more bars 😅

@@kafel_ski that’s interesting to know, I imagine a lot of Poland has also changed greatly over the years, it’s a shame I didn’t visit in my youth to have a comparison

@Brit InPoland It sure did. For the better it seems. Streets themselves are the same...some changed names and whats there mostly changed. When I lived there it never occurred to me to visit any museums...not sure if they even existed. It was nice to see where I met my wife for our first date back in the summer of '82. In the park , right by the public library....lots of memories. Thanks again.

It's true, it's not the biggest place...and I called it sleeping beauty because it was so quiet, there was not much going on in this city, though it has some wonderful architecture and I enjoyed my stay there, I especially liked the Browar for Kowal
