I found the SP-01 trigger quite nice right out of the box - in both DA and SA. In any case I've always preferred to adapt to my guns rather than modify them at great expense. The money saved on mods is then more efficiently used on ammo and practice. But... to each his own. There's a reason the mod kits are so plentiful. Evidently there's more of you than of me. Thanks for the video.

I throughly enjoy your reviews. Straight to the point, no bs. I own the 75B SA. Simply unbeatable. What a sweet trigger in single action. No work needed whatsoever. I'm bidding right now (Gun Broker) on the SP-01 manual safety. Auction ends tomorrow. Wish me luck.

82 Luft- I also have the SA model, and it is honestly my favorite pistol, I know this gun is accurate, but I think it also helps the pointability and the weight because I shoot this gun much more accurately than my others. I am very happy I was able to buy this pistol when I did, I guess CZ has discontinued the SA model...

I recently rodded my SP-01 Competition out to the gills, I polished every single mating surface from the slide rails and feed ramp down to pin holes and spring guides, _everything_ got polished, then I shimmed the sear cage to eliminate any rearward movement (it's apparently pretty normal for stock 75's to have a slight gap between the frame and sear cage, but when you're installing CGW parts it becomes a noticeable problem) once the trigger hits the wall, without the shims it was very springy but now it's very crisp and tight. It isn't noticeable until you install a Cajun Gun Works or other quality trigger kit, which I also put in, I went with the CGW standard package instead of the pro package since I've converted my gun to SAO. I polished those components too, and did a little bit of final fitting with a diamond hone and polishing stick on the race hammer hooks and the adjustable sear. I used the 11.5# hammer spring which has brought the trigger pull weight down to around 1.8 pounds, and on top of all that I removed the firing pin block and cut the leg off the lifter arm so it can't interfere with the trigger bar. Doing so has brought the reset distance from about .220" thousandths down to .060" thousandths, the trigger barely has to move before it resets and it stops the moment it fires, thanks to the adjustable straight SAO trigger I put in. I also installed a DPM Systems recoil buffer guide rod and CZ brand frame buffer, and also have a six ounce tungsten weight with a silicone buffer spring attached to the pic rail. Between the already hefty weight of the gun, the extremely light and crisp trigger pull and reset, the DPM recoil buffer, and the tungsten weight+buffer unit, this thing shoots better than any stock Shadow 2 or TSO out there, though since it is modified it can't compete in some competitions. Which is OK because I don't go to competitions lol. At this point I kind of wish I had just waited and bought a TSO or Shadow 2, I've sunk $2000 into this gun now and could have gotten most of the things I did to mine stock, but ohh well, I'm deeply in love with my SP-01 now and don't regret a thing🤣. A threaded barrel, compensator and aluminum extended magwells are next on the list, time to bust out some _more_ cash lol...

For me, the best production all metal pistol in the market period and for only $620...unbeatable.The recoil doesn't exist, it is a natural pointer and you can easily shoot it with one hand. I can't think of a better gun to have in a dangerous situation, when panic takes over and all the training goes out the window. It's on my night stand without the safety on double action mode. The trigger it's only ok but as a home defense pistol it is just outstanding.

Just an FYI...if your going to lower the hammer with your fingers let go of the trigger just as soon as the sear is released. That way if it does slip the firing pin block is engaged and there is no bang.

Good review. If you not have to start your first double action shot from the hammer completly down to the firing pin ( for example, according to spicific competition rules ), it better to start from half cocked position ( the trigger pull is shorter ). It's the more safety way to carry the pistol - the hammer is stopted from hitting the firing pin till the trigger is pulled . That's the thammer stop safety 🙂

I've had my CZ 75 SP01 for 12 years now and put around 70,000 plus rounds through it. I can count the misfeeds on one hand. Since purchase, I've only replaced the recoil spring, slide stop and ejector most recently one time. Cajun Gunworks has a great fiber optic set with a black rear and front sight fiber optic. For IDPA competition, the beveled mag well makes mag exchanges smooth as silk. Great ergonomics, contoured to fit your hand like a glove. Rails on the inside provides tight lockup and accuracy. The pic rail provides a little extra weight up front that reduces muzzle flip which allows for an accurate follow up acquisition shot right on target. Hands down the best pistol ever manufactured! Sorry Glock and 1911 boys! I own and shoot both those pistols too btw!

Try some isolation drills with your left hand. Don't grip the gun just hold it with the web of your hand leaving your hand loose and then pull the trigger incredibly slowly so the shot surprises you. It takes a while to get used to doing this but I think you'll like the results. Should have got the Shadow 2! haha. It's great seeing this. I need to take a couple of months and go DA/SA guns only.

I've had mine for 12 years now and put over 70k plus rounds through it. CZ has a list of parts that should be replaced after 20k rounds, (recoil spring every 5k). But in all that time, I've only had to replace the slide stop 3 times, the recoil spring twice and most recently, the ejector and trigger spring. As mentioned, this gun is a champ for competition. The front rail adds additional weight so your follow up acquisition shot is right on target, allowing me to rapid fire 18 rounds in a 3 inch group from 7 yards quite consistently. If you're doing IDPA competion shooting where you're dropping and reloading a mag, the mag well is smooth and contoured so the exchange is effortless. I own 16 different handguns and have shot dozens more over the years. Personally I can say unequivocally, the CZ 75 SP01 is the best handgun ever manufactured. Also, CZ USA provides the best customer service and technical support I've ever experienced. Apologies to all the Glock and 1911 fans out there!

Kota, got something interesting for you to maybe try out and give your thoughts on. Moving a button mag release to the right side to be used similarly to a paddle mag release. Honestly, the safety version is my favorite for several reasons. 1 it’s ambidextrous, 2 you can carry it with the hammer back, 3 you can carry it decocked by manually lowering the hammer, 4 you can carry it hammer all the way down, 5 trigger is easier to work on vs the decocker. You get a lot more options with the safety than the deckcker model. I have the safety version. Same gun you have in this video. Also the shadow isn’t on California’s roster so we can’t get it here.

For me, the grip on the SP-01 is more comfortable than the Shadow II. I like the high grip of the Shadow II, but that bump digs into my palm. The standard frame fits me much better. The one I picked up has a pretty good factory trigger, so I'm in no hurry to mess with it. Maybe later it will get a CGW Pro package. The slightly shorter barrel and lighter weight is a tradeoff with the Shadow II for the better grip, IMHO.
