I want to know the name of the game, the genre of the game, any information from the studio about the game (even if it is mostly a press release) and when the game is due to come out. The reason why gaming journalism is going downhill is because they stopped being objective. Their biases began to seep into their articles, and it just became insufferable. I'm not saying that all KZbinrs don't have their own biases but you can at least find a couple of them that will give you an honest and objective review of a game.

It's not even just a bias, as journalism has always had biases even just based on what photo they'd use to sway how a story was interpreted. The issue over the last decade is that they are outright activists.

Objectivity isn't even the issue. Their issues are the issue, where the game is, at most, a convenient launching point for whatever political point they want to make, rather than the focus of the article. Don't get me wrong; I can enjoy a well done analysis, even if the reasoning is kind of cracked, and I'm down for discussing the socio-political ramifications of a world that includes Pikmin, a willing slave race with no care for self-preservation. (Or so I am led to believe; I've never played a _Pikmin_ title.) The problems come in when they're evaluating games based on their preferred political narratives rather than as, y'know, games. When they're evaluating creators not by the games they produce, but by the flags in their bios. And criticism by... well, as criticism of their article, rather than attacks on their person.

I used to read Kotaku back when Brian Crecente was EIC, and it was actually informative. But, when the online games journals became worse than worthless, and went with Leigh Alexander's "Gamers are over; Gamers don't have to be your audience", we decided to take our views elsewhere. (We tried reasoning with them, but they didn't want a discussion; they wanted to silence us.) The elsewhere was YTers, where we could see the gameplay for ourselves and decide if the experience was worth parting with our ducats to obtain. So these forlorn jounos are mad at YTers because they were replaced by YTers. They didn't learn a thing from the events of ten years ago, just kept circling the wagons and doubling down on the politics. (Polygon quite explicitly stated that they would rate games on political correctness. Once again, worse than worthless.) Now that we've discovered these creatures have infiltrated game development as well as games journalism, we've come to the realization that nothing less than driving them out of the industry will do. We starved the journals; now we can starve the whole industry. And it will be YTers who report on it. (ESG is going out of fashion, so that money is drying up.)
