He's one of the few people working as a games journalist that I believe would be hugely successful starting his own channel. Though, I don't mind that he works for Kotaku. They have quite a number of really talented people (Gita Jackson and Heather Alexandra) and the only hard-hitting games journalist in the business (Jason Schreier). I would be challenged to come up with a better list of journalists anywhere else. And no, I'm not a schill. I'm just genuinely impressed with Kotaku when looking at the competition.

Less pokemon, tons of bugs and loading issues, data corruption, lack of features that were in previous games, boring story, boring characters, reused animations, evidence that Game Freak lied, no aftergame, less content than Ultra Sun and Moon, and cost way too much. Need I say more?
@midknight13395 жыл бұрын
@@notch6801 First off, it's "fewer Pokemon," not "less Pokemon." Second, the Pokedex cuts don't affect anything until postgame, as access to the national dex only unlocks in postgame (this is true for all of the mainline Pokemon games up to this point). Cutting Pokemon was an inevitability, as with 1000+ Pokemon, 250+ abilities, and almost 800 moves, it is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to balance the game. Some gamebreaking combo or other would certainly arise and destroy the competitive scene. As for bugs and loading issues, this hasn't been a complaint raised by any of the professional reviewers I've read/watched - including the Kotaku review and preview, the IGN review, the Gameinformer review, and the Gamespot review. I'm certain that if a game was actually filled with technical issues, the 5 professional reviewers I just listed, each of whom spent around 40 hours on the game, would have noticed them. Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, on the other hand, had significantly more bugs than a normal Pokemon game (due to development being handed off to less experienced devs), and yet there was no controversy over them. As for data corruption, www.polygon.com/pokemon/2019/11/15/20966487/pokemon-sword-shield-save-file-corruption-nintendo-switch-exfat-sd-card Note the “It’s more of an operating system failure than a game failure," as well as the note that formatting your SD card as FAT32 (which is already what most SD cards are formatted as) solves the issue. As for lack of pre-established features, that is factually incorrect. Sword and Shield added a ton of quality-of-life improvements, and only removed the ability to turn off the EXP Share (which, if people on the internet were actually civil for once, would've been a quick fix via a patch. Instead, we have riots). The story has never really been something people play Pokemon for, with the sole exception of Black/White. Heartgold/Soulsilver are universally held to be amazing Pokemon games, but the story is bog-standard. Reused animations is the one point on which I will agree with you. However, while some of the move animations in a battle are pretty mediocre (double-kick, for example), there animations for the more epic moves look pretty awesome this generation. "Evidence that Gamefreak lied" is, once again, not correct. Gamefreak cited 3D models as one of the reasons for not including the whole dex, but some interviews showed them being most concerned about balancing (as I mentioned earlier). The vast majority of Pokemon models were not ported over from Sun/Moon, contrary to popular belief. Only some were. They never said they'd rebuild all the models. "No postgame" is the most blatant lie in your original post. There, quite literally, is a postgame. I don't know how else I can refute your point here. "Less content than US/UM" is also incorrect, with US/UM sitting at an average of 34 hours on howlongtobeat.com, while reviewers of Sword and Shield spent around 40 hours (it should be noted that reviewers are often on a tight schedule and have to rush their playthroughs). Costing more than previous games is a reality of a handheld series making it over to console. When Link to the Past was released on Switch for $60, people were fine with it. When Smash 4 was released simultaneously on 3DS and WiiU, it was $20 more on WiiU, despite having almost the same content. And yet people were fine with it. It's simply unreasonable to expect a console game to be any less than $60 at launch, especially on a Nintendo console. As such, I have disproven every single one of your points. You really do need to say more.
