I first watched this anime when I was like 16/17. I'm almost 29 now and this song still pops up in my head from time to time. And I sing it to my cat when I give her a bath. Calms her down so much she almost falls sleep during her baths :')

I happen to hear this at a convenient store as it caught my attention. The only line which I memorized was 'aishiteru, aishiteru' & kept on humming its tune as soon as I head back home. I badly searched for the song on youtube and there I found this & have become one of my fave songs for years . I literally replay this song for like everyday until I annoy my lil sister but later on, whenever I play this, she also sings together with the song. This never keeps old to listen to

I felt so overwhelmed (with feels) listening to every second of this song! I love this song so much! I love this series from the bottom of my heart! God bless Miss Midorikawa for writing this manga and the staff at Brain's Base, who made such a beautiful adaptation of this masterpiece of a series! A diamond in the rough, truly describes this series perfectly! My heartfelt wish is that more and more people watch this series and develop an undying appreciation for this exemplary example of fantastic, beautiful ,simple; yet timeless piece of storytelling.

It's more popular in Japan than elsewhere it seems, from what I've seen. Which is sad, because no one knows what I'm talking about when they ask me about my favorite anime lol There're so many reasons I love this series. One is how the youkai are treated. They're both terrifying, and stunningly incredible. There's animism, and a contrast and comparison between youkai and humans.

@@evewhoo so true. the first time I ever read the manga and then watch the anime was when I was in junior high. it was like 2008? to this day I LOVE LOVE LOVE this series to death to a point where everytime I try to recommend anime someone would immediately said "it's not Natsume Yuujincho, is it?". because I always try to spread the love for this series. I mean, how could you not love Nyanko-sensei and Natsume???

While it has been my favorite series and manga at all since I saw it, we may simply not have the main standards in the West. I tried to get some friends to watch it, but everyone doesn't like it. One told me they found it "boring" , which hurt my pride a little. On the other side, I found the show thanks to a video where a KZbin asked Japanese people which manga they would recommend to western people. If I recall correctly, Natsume was second (and I discovered Barakamon throughthat too)

This is the only Japenese song I know by heart (apart from the ones from anime I watched growing up). I still have the lyrics memorized from when I learned and sang this song 6 years ago in my music class. I was 14 years old back then. This was a total random choice of song my partner and I had to learn for our practical. To this very day I sing this and boy it brings so many memories back. My sister, who was 10 years old, also learned this with me. Up till now, we jam with it although we're not Japanese and don't know enough Nihonggo to understand the entire song.
