The opening melody of this movement is a perfect example of Beethoven's sheer genius! Simple, yet so complete!

what i love about SK he critiques within a framework of encouragment and respect for the the artists individuality whatever level they are at this gal we all know is a monster pianist just listen to her prokofiev tocatta but i just love when he sayes defferential things like im stopping u not because i dont think its good...and he sits with the score and unlike almost every other piano master class i have seen he does not demonstrate by playing himself ie move over kid this is how it goes you do

I love how SK says the main theme “floats”. That sense of floating is to me what separates his own performances of this music from all others. Others make it sound dreamy, but SK makes it float in understated majesty.

She refuses to be distracted by her bra strap as she soldiers on. That's the mark of a pro. I play the Waldstein Sonata, but I never have played those left hand runs as beautifully articulated as her.

Why have none of the commenters noted that the audio is completely out of sync with the pianist's fingers? Bizarre that this video would be uploaded in such condition.

It's easier to play that way. It would be a lot harder if you shift both hands just to hit the low C and G octave, while keeping the harmony legato.

Perhaps the tempo was a little to fast for my liking. Anyway a good performance.
