There was no robbery. The fight was a draw. Kovalev dominated rounds 1-4. The 5th could've went either way then Ward clearly out boxed him 6 out of 7 rounds (Kovalev won round 9). Because of the knock down, the fact that kovalev was the champion and how close the rounds were... it should've been a draw.

what i saw is kovl only won round two with the knockdown. every other round he was very active but missing his shots. and ward started to pop shot and body him. even though ward only through little punches he was making kovl miss and that let ward pop him. but the knock down is the only thing i gave kovl and ward did very little. but them pop shots and body shots did add up for ward while kovl was missing. but at best i had it a draw. because bith did very little. the knockdown kovl got was in round two that mean he had 10 more rounds to go. he was very active but miss alot after the knockdown

People just seem to not understand Boxing and the 10 point must system. 2 rounds won by Ward equals a knockdown. Ward held Kovalev after being knocked down and continued to hold in the 3rd round. After that it was Kovalev holding not wanting to fight on the inside. What we missed was and epic comeback if not for Harold Lederman's strange scorecard which was openly disputed on the air by Max Kellerman who I greatly respect. Body puches & clean punches were the keys to victory. After the 4th rounds there were a couple of close rounds but I was starting to find it difficult to give Kovalev a round. Anyone who judges this fight after let's say round 4 and thinks Kovalev dominated is just out of their mind or doesn't like Ward's stye period. There was a round where Kovalev slipped when he got up his nose was bleeding, eyes were wide, and visibly fatigued yet I'm listening to the HBO commentators like my God are you watching the same fight. It was a great fight by two champions. Initially I was thinking it was a draw after watching a second time and scoring the fight all 3 judges got it right. Kovalev wanted range and Ward wanted the inside in the 2nd half of the fight ward imposed his will upon Kovalev. Where John David Jackson allowed Kovalev to coast after the knock down Virgil Hunter was amazingly bringing Ward back into the fight round by round. Somehow non-boxing people missed it........Ward wanted this fight more and deserves the win. Watch the grabbing ward in a head lock constantly to avoid inside fighting. Coming forward not landing and losing consecutive rounds is not good recipe for victory. You remove the knockdown and the odd telecast by HBO and it would be clear who won. I take nothing away from Kovalev he fought like a champion but even Kathy Duva thought something was wrong with Kovalev because he stop throwing his right hand in the 2nd half of the fight. Turn the volume down on the TV give the first 4 round to Kovalev and count the knock down which puts him up 5pts to 0. After the 12th round you may have it even or Ward winning by a single point that's just how dominant he was in the 2nd half of the fight again an epic come back!!!!

Philip Jacques there were two three rounds in between which were up for grabs for anybody. And towards the end kov seemed slightly faded and ward began to up the gear. I had it Kovalev by one point, but again, could've gone anyway. Round 7 onwards it was mainly ward, along with maybe a round here n there which could go to anybody .

Speak on it..I had a draw or Kovelav by 1pt at first glance but after rewatching it was very techincal...Those rounds after the knockdown made the difference...Ward had a case for rounds 3 4 & 5...I gave 2 out of 3 to Kovalev with Ward only winning round5 ...Could not figure out Why kovalev did not go to the body and was actually clenching and holding more than Ward...I would say Ward's speed was the cause of that....in the end Ward's body shots, hooks & heart got the victory!

No. He recovered and adjusted and immediately sold his defense short by attacking Kovalev's body, which affected the Russian's speed and power towards the CHAMPIONSHIP rounds. Ward could've ran the whole fight if he wanted and pot shotted Kovalev but they believed in their game plan and it worked. It might not have gone as smooth as they planned so it looked ugly to the naked eye. I had it a split decision towards Ward. It would've been different if the knock down affected Andre towards the point of being shut down from that point on and after but Ward was countering and kept fighting and even had points where Kovalev looked like he was ready to go. Would pay to see a rematch. Good fight from both warriors.

They scored the knockdown for that round. It's 12 rounds meaning technically they had 12 battles to see who would win the war? Everyone focusing on this fucking knock down.. learn some boxing and watch body shots, counter punches, and evasive movements too. Kovalev at some point looked like he was grabbing invisible dicks in the air.

I knew if Ward won we would get this reaction. Had Kovalev not knocked him down, wouldn't make any difference. They were always going to say he held. They were always going to say stuff about aggression. The knockdown gives justification as to who won in most people's mind, because Ward usually isn't getting dropped. Had Ward dropped Kovalev, they would've said Mackie Shillstone gave him peds. Ward was never going to get props from those who always want to see certain guys lose. I admit, I thought they would give Kovalev the fight due to the knockdown. I'm happy Ward won, but would've preferred a draw which is more a less how it went. Nobody did well enough to me to choose a clear victor, but kovalev had the biggest moment. No way did he blow Ward away. No way did Ward win 4 rds. Kovalev looked the more gassed and amateur after rd 5. The only advantage he had was power. Other than that he looked quite terrible to be honest. The size difference was very apparent, and yet Ward overcame a shot from the Krusher to have him stumbling in the ring in the later rds. That is what happened. Kovalev had moments, but very inconsistent. Ward had the consistenc,y but not biggest moments.

Guess what? People are talking about boxing again. This is exactly what boxing needed, a competitive fight between 2 to stars in their prime. Wins and losses aren't what matters anymore, it's about the competitiveness. In my opinion, the 2 top boxers in the sport. Congratulations to both Andre and Sergey. Can't wait to see the rematch. This is another scandalous decision!! US boxer benefit from US judges in the US. No doubt about it. It's not the 1st time it happens in the US. Kobalev MUST GIVE HIM A REMATCH and kick Award's ass again. And this rematch should be done in another country. This was clearly a very close fight, we can all agree that if Kovalev was to catch him most likely was going to hurt Ward and he did early in the fight. Andre being able to adapt, he knew when to fight and when not to fight, he knew when to use lots or few punches, clinging appropriately in the later rounds where he knows he is more effective and suitable for this fight.

Forget the judges. The stats show Kovalev as the aggressor throwing more punches but percentage wise he did NOT land more than ward. CHECK THE STATS GUYS. WARD PERCENTAGE WAS HIGHER IN LANDING THE CLEANER SHOTS.

Andre Ward knows he didn't win cleanly but he won I agree with the judges.I think we're so used to mayweather that we forgot how to score a boxing match and this is boxing Kovalev didn't dominate this fight like some of you are saying but hell of a fight
