At the point 23:46 why does he play the 10 of diamonds instead of the ace of diamonds? Is it not true that he has to climb with an ace if he has it in his hand?

You only have to beat the previous card played. Since he had the remaining ace's in his hand he knows he can take the trick with the 10. Ace's are only required if the previous card was a 10.

At time 39:23, the dealer (Al Spath) says that the man to his right is showing a meld of 20. But he also has double pinochle for 30 points, which he didn't count...? Later, it appears from discussion amongst the observers, that at least one or two others did notice his double pinochle...

At the point 25:24 why did he county his cards and then add "at last" 2?

Halo greetings from Indonesia,i start understand,how to play this game lately,it took months to understand it actually.And i only play on the app,and i hope my friends would be interested to play this game,using real cards.But what still makes me confuse about the scoring system.I play double deck.There was one game i played.I have king and queen heart",and king of each suit,but why score melding says that my point and partner were Zero??? In that game we were non bidder,and the Trump was spade.

At around the 28 minute mark jumping the bid by ten shows how to give a meld bid when the previous bidder does a close out bid of 60. The bid is 60 and the next bidder can give what is called a jump bid. I have always played for every 30 meld a player has they jump the bid by ten. So if the player had 65 meld their jump bid would be 80. One caution in the example in the video the 60 bidder had the first bid so the next bidder does not know if there partner wants a meld bid. So prior to giving a meld jump bid the player should be confident that either their partner is looking for meld or if their partner were too pass they have a strong enough hand to take the bid if everyone else passes after the jump bid. Nice video Al I really enjoyed watching both of your videos. Are you located somewhere in Florida? Bob K

When declaring aces around I don't put all my aces down, just one.

The game is a little confusing at first with all its variants, the melds and the unique card deck. But great fun once you get the hang of it. The most interesting aspect is kind of knowing at what point you are going to pass on the bidding. And sometimes you can make your contract even when it looks kind of hopeless.

At 28 mark, I mention going 10 over the 60 bid, indicating 30 or more meld..
@CrouchingBowlerHiddenTrader5 жыл бұрын
I probably would have jumped to 65 to shut out opponents when partner passed 20 meld and I had 43 meld with the run on first deal.
