+1 to @Ben Tan By having your speakers set to large/full range you are seriously kiiling your listening experience...plus you'd have more output from your speakers by just allowing the sub to do what they are supposed to be doing in the 1st place. Set the speakers to small/80Hz and your subs for LFE/120Hz (default frequency so leave as is) and sit back & enjoy. Speaking of the subs...+ numbers after calibration is a no no! Turn up the gain on your subs so that you end up with something around -5 or -6 after calibration. That noy only leaves you wiggle room to adjust, but it prevents any clipping and it doesn't draw any unneccessary power that can be used for your speakers. Hope this helps. Happy listening!

Darrell B I have them set to small now. But I don't have them crossed over at 80hz which I know is the standard. Plus at the time of the recording I don't have the same speakers as I do now. I have the crossover on the fronts set to 40 and the subs go from there because I like to turn up the subs to really hear and feel those sub 30 frequencies. The speakers I have now dig deep but there's nothing like sub bass from a sub! Thanks for the criticism!

I cant get mine to even start. I have the Yamaha R-N 803 receiver. Have also done a factory reset hoping that would fix the problem. It didn't. I get the error code E-124 and then says control knob. I have no idea how to make it work even though I followed every detail in setup. Any ideas what to try next?

In the manual setup there is parametric EQ then you put the frequency in then there is a section called Q, I don't understand that, what the hell's all that about?
@Kpaceguy4 жыл бұрын
Allows you to turn a certain range of frequencies up or down. It gets pretty technical and I wouldn't get into it unless you know what you're listening for

@@Kpaceguy yeah that looked technical! I've only got the 2 channel's but I'm not sure when changing the dB to -/+ dB also, and then there's the max volume? Cheers for your reply I really appreciate that man.
@Kpaceguy4 жыл бұрын
colin you don't want your levels to be higher than 0db. The max volume setting is where you can go in and set the limit of how high you can turn your receiver until it stops turning up. This allows you to protect your speakers from being too loud or not letting kids or someone blast the volume too loud

Oh wow, you've got a lot of misconception in your video. 1) DON'T touch the impedance switch. You put that at 4ohms and you are effectively cutting your receiver's power nearly in half. 2) Sorry but your speakers aren't "Large", end of story - more so with the boundary gain that you get from the bedroom of yours. 3) Yes, do multi-position measurement with YPAO. 4) At least use a tripod if you can't get a boom arm + stand to hold the mic. The amount of subtle resonance and vibration your bed was causing translates into that flimsy cardboard stand. 5) Your levels for the sub is already in the clipping range. Pretty much EVERY Yamaha receiver in the last 6 years (Aventage or not) clips the pre-out on the sub when the levels are set above +0db. You want a negative feedback, not a positive. In fact you want a LOW negative number. So turn up gain on your subs instead.
@SteveMe216857 жыл бұрын
hey, so during the calibration it says to turn sub volume to 50% as well as the low pass filter...my question is are we then not supposed to adjust the volume or anything else after the calibration?
@MidnightMagic5 жыл бұрын
@@SteveMe21685 i know its been a while but ill answer for future people also 50% gain ("volume") on the amp is just a starting point. If after the auto cal your sub level in the avr is too high you turn up the gain on your sub and re run the cal until you get a negative db level in the speaker levels in your avr menu. Once that is set, you never touch the sub gain again and only use the internal speaker level to adjust the sub spl level. That is only for one sub. if there were two subs you would need to do the following 1. Gain Match 2. Time Alignment 3. Auto EQ If performing a Manual EQ for your subs (single or multiple), such as a house curve, you Always set the house curve before running the AUTO EQ. (Double check your house curve after the Auto EQ) Hope this helps.
