I auditioned the Denon 6500 (basically same as the 6700 but only 4k) and IMO the receiver had excellent features, fancy graphics and superb user-friendliness. The multi-channel audio (movies) was pretty good but I just felt the two channel audio (music) was a little too digital sounding for my particular liking! Send it back, paid a bit extra and found a proper analogue sounding AVR 🥳 One's gonna to have to live with this decision for at least 5 years, so get it right. Conclusion; best to audition in your own home. Once the excitement wears off, that's when one can truly start to listen! Good luck. I hope you find what you're looking for.

Strange that the Yamaha limits the minimum impedance on its center and surround channels to 6 ohms and above for some reason. The Denon X6700H is over $3200 here is the US while the Yamaha A6A is around $2450. The Denon X4700H is around $2100.

Ive got a yamaha rx-a760 running 2 svs subs and klipsche surround (7.1). Also have added buttkicker seats. Looking to upgrade receivers to add ceiling speakers and go 11 channels for full emersion. Should i stick with yamaha, or go with another brand. What do you reccomend?

"Looking at the back [of the amp], it looks a bit scary" you say. I've just had a print copy of the user manual arrive from the printers for my A3060 and that looks VERY scary, so I can only guess the A6A to be more so.

An important note...our Denon AVR X3100W only displays functional information to the television screen. This is super annoying. When you only want to listen to music you also need to have the television on.

I have the rx1400 7.1 surround av receiver by Yamaha at 120 watts per channel x7 This av receiver has 7 powered channels built in It will eat the Yamaha a6a for breakfast

Every Yamaha I've ever had sounded like crap compared to Denon or Marantz. YPAO sucks too compared to Audyssey, Dirac etc. Their pre outs are less voltage than comparable brands also.Yes, they're full of features, but buy Yamaha with caution.
