@ji-qn2qx7 ай бұрын
I do agree. According to some people changbin and han can rap 9.7 and 9.6 syllables per sec and I looked up Eminem's he's has 7.5 Syllables per sec. They are pretty fast but it's hard to appreciate I guess when you're not familiar with the language the rap is in. Personally since I don't speak Korean I just listen to the flow and overall personality of the rap and they are really really good
@railee93717 ай бұрын
But I don't think it's right to look on the syllables tho? First, I'm not a language expert but I think syllables in English are much longer or complicated than the syllables in Korean, I'm probably clowning myself but as someone who love rapping, I rap in my language and I felt like I'm my mother, but make me rap in English and I'll feel like my tounge's malfunctioning, and that's from someone who knows English from when I was still a toddler, even tho it's just my second language... Besides Jeon Seoyeon from G-Idle, someone who participated in Unpretty Rapstar to compete with underground rappers and was acknowledged as a real rapper not just an idol rapper, can rap around 8-9 syllables. And I know Eminem is a great rapper but it's a bit funny to decide who's a real rapper or not based on whether they can rap more syllables than Eminem or not lolol. Han and Changbin can freestyle too!

@ji-qn2qx Bro rap is not about how fast you can say the words, hip hop is whole black culture, have history involved here, say a lot of random words fast as you can is not REAL RAP. I'm a huge fan of stray kids, Han and Changbin really CAN RAP but they don't actually DO in their most famous musics, 80% of an RAP is LYRICS, saying things like, telling a history, like attacking the government, the haters, the racist police, the industry in general, the other rappers (you can also talk about love or other shit in hip-hop but that's not my point). Hip-hop shaped my character and morality during my childhood and adolescence, it taught me how to live in a world that doesn't want me alive. Can you feel what I'm saying? Stray kids don't do that in their songs, ykwim?
@daniej1257 ай бұрын
@mr.mauribachmann2632 What do they talk about in the songs you listen to then? What Stray Kids songs do you even listen to? Because sure, some of their most popular songs are just about having fun, or there are some where the rap is clearly not the focus, but most of their songs that I personally listen to, the lyrics in their raps do everything you talk about. I'm not one of those people who think rap is all about speed or rhymes. You can have both and still say a lot of nothing. Changbin and Han aren't great rappers to me because of their speed, flows, style or rhyme schemes (though they are proficient in all those areas imho) but because when I pay attention to the lyrics, they use all those things to deliver real bars and tell real stories. They are clever lyricists and great storytellers, which is the true barometer of a competent rapper if you ask me. So yes, Changbin and Han are great rappers. The best ever? No. They're still learning and growing. But they already have a firm hold on all the tools of the trade, and as long as they keep learning more and more about the art form, and experimenting more, and branching out to tell new stories and tackle new techniques, they'll only continue to gain more respect and recognition.

At this point when they were reacting it was not about them hating the song, it was about them sounding like they were constantly saying all SKZ songs are the same when STAY know how many different genres SKZ have used. My guess is that the one who kind of knew SKZ had only heard title tracks. The funny thing about repeatedly saying "formula" whether it's negative or positive is that it's not so much formularic as it's the way most songs are written. Verse - pre-chorus - chorus - verse - pre-chorus - bridge - chorus, though nowadays some songs skip having a pre-chorus. Regardless it works for Pop, Rock, R&B, Metal, Country, Folk, Blues, ect... Even many popular traditional Hip Hop songs often followed that same "formula" except the choruses were performed by another artist featured or a sample was used. Seems to be the biggest issue that kept coming up was that it was Changbin starting the songs. Yes, Changbin starts a lot of the title tracks and if SKZ wasn't considered a "Boy Band" that wouldn't even be looked at as unusual. Look at other groups or bands that have lead singers and they start 99 to 100% of every song.

I think part of your confusion with their formula is that Thunderous was specifically copying the formula of God's menu until they broke the formula at the laugh with the arms as a call out to the haters. So the formula similarities were quite intentional here. They certainly have go-tos like the Bintro (Changbin intros the track) or pre chorus formulas, especially on the bigger pieces. Digging beyond that, they've experimented with tons of genres and still kept some of their own color (which are helped by parts of that formula).

Just a context on who Stray kids are. Stray kids don't put a label, they don't have a formula. they do it all. there is no specific genre they fit in. They are very diverse. So, don't expect a particular genre from them. They like to experiment in their music and so do diverse music genres because they don't limit themselves to any specifics. So there is no specific ''genre'' that ''fits '' them. They offer it all because they like it. No specific label or genre. And to say they produce their own genre, is to say they use their on style and can put 40 different genres in their music which makes them genius, and they have ideas which people have never tried before. So, yes. And not only in the music production but also in their lyricism because there is always a wordplay in their music. So in conclusion , checking out their music isn't only about how good it sounds, but also how they bring different genres and sounds that haven't been used before and arranged them so well to fit it in one song and it still sounds great and perfect, and their lyricism that has also been acknowledged by different producers and song writers. They have songs for sad times, happy times, gym times, club times, love times etc. and yes, they also have songs, just for fun which are experimental with a lot of word play. that's what makes their music great and for all. That's why they are call genius with their production and lyricism. Thank you.

In Thunderous the members make a mouth move that resembles laughing but very few know what that move means in the worlld of dance. It's called 'biting' and it's pretty much the strongest move someone could make toward other dancers. Biting is to call out another dancer for plagiarism and in urban dance battles of the 80s and 90s it's definitely enough to cause a huge fight. It's about respecting another's choreography and is a physical form of disrespect if used loosely. I've been in situations where there's been fist fights and arrests because it was used. It's a massive no-no in competition. The members of Stray Kids will know this, they are professional dancers after all _BUT_ they are using it in Thunderous to say they are impossible to copy, that they hear all the haters saying they don't make music just noise and are laughing at them for thinking the members give a fvck about this opinion. They are saying anyone can try and put disrespect on their name but inevitably it won't matter because they're loud and proud of who they are, will stick to being themselves and the love of STAY is all that matters to them. ETA: If anyone wants to understand this a little better search 'VATA Ateez Say My Name choreo plagiarism' there's a really good short out there that explains it all in under 60 seconds. I can't remember the channel name off the top of my head but it has black upper and lower borders with white writing, the font is like blackboard chalk almost. And I know this video right now is about Stray Kids, it just so happens to be that Wooyoung actually used the biting move at a concert in front of thousands, which demonstrates how this can rile people up into violence.

All of thier music is in fact completly self produced, self written, and self compsed with little to no outside help or intervention from JYP. I think the main reason you guys think thier music has a "formula" is because most of the songs you've reacted to are tittle tracks which is the main song on an album. With kpop in general a groups tittle tracks tend to be similar in style and format because they're the main way of promoting that album and serve as a way to get new peoples attention. To fully grasp how divers stay kids music is you have to listen to non tittle track songs aka " b-sides" or even unit songs which are tracks that don't have all the members on them. A good mix of songs to react to would be cover me, 3racha, muddy water, secret secret, charmer, red light, hey day, or gone away. Reacting to a whole album or any of the members solo projects would also be good. they also post dance practices for some of thier songs and videos showing behind the sences of thier studio recording process. I would also suggest either watching more lyric videos, dance proformance videos or even just looking into the meanings and story lines of each music video because non of them feel random if you pay attention. I respect all your oppinions but i feel like you guys are making a lot of assumtions when you haven't even checked out a fraction of their discogrophy. The beats are incredible; you won't appreciate them unless you're a dancer, music lover, musician, composer, or producer. The Man with the Cap seems stuck in the 90s with just one genre per song. All credits will be higher after the new album is released. They are around 90% for arrangements and composing. They have an input for choreo. That being said they are 96% for producing. 3 members are also the primary producers, sometimes they have other producers with them and rarely are they not involved with production in some way. BANG CHAN the leader and main producer has made beats whilst on a LIVE many times. MEGAVERSE I LOVE the theme of this MV. The security guard was disrespecting them by DOODLING all over them in the newspaper. This angered SKZ and caused them to break the 4 th wall and arrive in their hellevator to right the wrong. CHANS sweater is covered in DOODLES. The boys morphing into each other stamps we are one. One for all, all for one. Mess with one, you mess with us all. I also love the fact that it is the music that blasts him through the wall and the floor. SKZ replied to their haters the best way they can, their music. If you notice no matter where the guard tried to escape to..... through exit doors, he couldn't get away. That is because there is NO EXIT, once you are in, you are here to STAY. At the end the new security guard is TABLO from EPIK HIGH. The crossword said Next 'X'? Next Collab is SKZ X TABLO. Recently Epik High did a collab with Seventeens HOSHI. Interestingly Tablo"s wife's favourite IDOL group is StrayKids. His daughters favourite groups are StrayKids, Seventeen and BTS. I can see a trend 😂 OR This is the journey of a new STAY. First you notice their visuals, the newspaper had our 2 most popular. Then the music hits you, like a slap to the face. As you go further beats like this one literally floors you. After entering the rabbit hole of Stray Kids, as all of the fanbase know, there is no escape. You are here to STAY. ALL RAP. HAN.......I GOT IT. CHANGBIN ...... DOODLE. They have alluded to a collab with DJ SNAKE. They have worked with Alesso and Corsak before.

Straykids doesn't have a formula. their songs are different, because in a single song you can find 5 or 6 musical styles so SKZ is not for ordinary people, it's for odd people.

3racha makes all of their music, the sub-unit includes the three members Bang Chan, Changbin and Han. Occasionally, other members will also participate in composition and lyrics, but it's usually only Bang Chan (of the members) who works on the beat production and Versachoi (JYP producer who works closely with them). I actually love that you like Comflex (Complex-flex) so much, because it's not really a fandom favourite lol. It might be interesting to see you guys check out Tortoise and the Hare or some of their other solo/duo songs if you're interested in judging the ballads (though, T&H is not a ballad, it just lovingly messes with my brain). Ballad-like - 19, written by Han (MV) - Cover Me, written by Hyunjin and Chan - Streetlight, Changbin solo - Black Hole, Bang Chan and I.N - Secret Secret, written by Han (MV) - Scars, Japanese release (MV) Not so ballad-like - Want So Bad, Lee Know and Han, written by Han - Tortoise and the Hare - Silent Cry, dunno if this counts as a not-ballad tbh, but it's kind of aggressive haha - Miserable, Han solo It's a lot, but I had more and I held myself back. I'm an avid enjoyer of Skz music, but I'm not gonna hate on you guys for not liking a song or two (or three or five or more haha), cause we all have preferences and that's a good thing. Hopefully you guys can get around to hearing more of them and other groups, y'all have an interesting take on music.

Cyclops and many other “strange” unexplained things are Easter eggs, as an homage to past videos. They write their own songs, produce their own music. This actually is the Musial in K-pop. Would love it if you would check out Taemin, the idol of idols. His singing is beautiful and dancing is incredible.

I've skipped through this video a lot and the comments really tell me everything I need to know. And the backhanded compliments/comments are.. questionable. You're entitled to your own opinion, but if you keep at it like this then skz really isn't for you. But I would like to add, in s-class, the hip-hop part did throw me off when I first listened to it too, I said the same thing, "i don't get why it's there.." Though when I really listened to it, almost repeatedly, it does fit. It may be a surprise that is goes in-between those certain parts, but the fact that they were able to fit it in and make it work is cool. It's the perfect spot where the music fades down, like a little break in the song, and then in brings it back up again with Han's rap. They use odd techniques that may be confusing and like "why is this here" or "this doesn't make sense" but in reality it works and it doesn't have to make sense. Skz will make something different every era and album. They will not make another gods menu, the whole point of gods menu was to say "nobody can do it like us" "we keep making new things" "we keep experimenting." They are going to hit every genre if they haven't already. And mix some. Welcome to actual noise music!😊

Do the research, whether you’re a fan or not. I heard you say you’ve been doing this for three years… These kids have been working since before their debut, 2017. Think you need to find the dance practice vids & get an idea. A formula? 🙄 And quite frankly, you’re new to this, so your opinions right now really don’t matter.
@norafiana78447 ай бұрын
skz may have many fire songs, but they are not using any particular formula in making songs. they are always experimenting, and now they end up with over 200 songs with a wide range of genres and colours. they have ballad, pop, edm, rock, and whatever.

143 = I (one letter) + LOVE (four letters) + YOU (three letters) The video is showing the conflict between the rational self (the ones dressed as the police) and the irrational self (the other Stray Kids, who have been "infected" by love (the little heart monsters) ). The police try to control everything (aka control their emotions), but things quickly get out of control and in the end, the police are gone and you just have members who are singing, dancing, breaking through glass walls, etc......in other words, they've given up trying to be rational about being in love.

I am going to give you both kudos for trying more. For discovering the discography, for listening to the commenters, who of course will defend their favorites. What I enjoy about Stray Kids is the variety. They will have some songs that become yours (Megaverse, God’s Menu), and others that don’t. Some people lean toward rock or rap, some are lyrically focused and enjoy the ballads. Cover Me from the recent album for me was about the lyrics. I’m glad you’re finding the songs you love. Others will tell you the details of the production by the members themselves. It’s one of the things the fans admire about them most. I hope you keep trying more, and find more songs you love, and that’s what music is all about.

they have a formula It goes kinda like: Intro : Rap line (Changbin or han usually) they usually come in strong Chorus : Hyunjin and/or Felix they're like the face of the group, its only natural Bridge : I.N (sometimes bangchan) Last 30 seconds : Strong, loud and powerful usually after the dance-break, they go wild, the song cuts off abruptly after they sing the sing the chorus with more loud background music "formula" is amazing and it's working for them Some examples: •S-Class •Case 143 •Maniac •God's menu •Thunderous (not 100%, but close) •Christmas Evel •Back Door
@kalisituitavuki7363 ай бұрын
They make their own formula, thats the whole point of Stray Kids is that they don't follow anybody elses "formula". I think trying to fit them into a certain predicted mold is going to skew your perception of them and their music, keeping you from forming any kind of truly open minded opinion. The greatest thing about them is that they are predictably unpredictable and with each new unexpected turn they seem to flawlessly not miss a thing!❤❤❤

Fun Fact: They almost gave up on Megaverse. Bang Chan told us this week they almost threw it out. I suggest watching lyric videos to b-sides. Those songs are usually different from the title tracks or songs that get music videos. It's like they have more freedom with those songs. An hour long video of b-sides, it'll slap. Also, feel like you're give JYP a little too much control. 3Racha writes the majority of songs but maybe JYP asks for 1 -2 formula songs an album cause they are good for music videos. Dunno, I've only been a fan for a couple years. Lastly, I wouldn't call them their own genre. I think of them as genre hoppers. Or mixing genres into a pop song.

"I don't get it" because you don't "get" Stray Kids. If you don't understand their purpose in writing a certain song or their goals and aspirations then why react to them? When a song confused me on its meaning, rather than making my own assumptions, i looked up why they wrote and the meaning behind it. I've noticed that you guys do not like the songs because you literally don't take the time to understand what's being said. S- class in particular, i followed a Korean couple that went into great detail of the meaning.

Im just gonna say I know not everyone has the same taste in music, if you dont like the songs its fine, thats your preference, but the amount of misinformation in these videos... "While also trying to represent the very long time frame of this band of three years" I mean if yall are gonna react to a group at least check basic background info first, they've been a group for six years not three. Plus the things said from the first video that were wrong. "Phobia" is not from their first album, their first album is "Mixtape", " Phobia" is from GO LIVE, which is two years after their first album. "Spoilers guys they didnt write the song" 3racha (Bangchan, Changbin, and Han) write all of their song, minus like 2 or 3. Other members have also helped with composing and production of songs, and there are songs where a certain member will mostly write it and then the others will change something so it fits with the group, so obviously not all song are going to be alike or they have different vibes. "They arent real rappers" They write their own raps, telling the story they want and they are versatile with their flow and style of rap (which rappers do) they may not be the absolute best rappers and are still learning things, but they are still skilled in what they do. "The music videos are weird" Thats because they have lore to their videos, you would have to watch all of them in order to peice together the story line they made.
